Ron Paul Versus Truth Decay

"What is truth?" Pontius Pilate is reputed to have mused. Answer: It depends on your angle.

When we believe that we are have in our possession “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” regarding political matters, we subject the body politic to infection and “truth decay.” This is because what we regard to be true is dependent upon our personal perspective, or our cognitive vantage point, that is structured by the nature of our brain and senses and the experiences that we have recorded in memory. Nothing is as it appears.

What we think we see or know is always a function of our interpretations of our sense data. So, by remaining solidly wedded to a given personal perspective on an issue or situation and broadcasting that viewpoint to others as “the Truth,” we create a spreading infection that can cause TRUTH to decay and ultimately lead to the crumbling of our Republic.

The following is a commentary that I made today (8-18-07) on Evrviglnt’s “Political Vindication” blog. It was in response to his comment to my initial posting that was in turn a response to his entry entitled:

“Ron Paul: Hanging Out With Truther Kooks,”

In this rather lengthy response, I present the analogy of a number of people in a room who are each looking at a particular part of the room from a very nearsighted perspective.

http://politicalvindication.com/?p=544#comment-807

In my response, I use Evrviglnt’s term “Troofer,” which is an infantile rendering of “Truther,” obviously designed to suggest that anyone who would advocate for further investigation of the 9/11 disaster is either infantile or “dimwitted,” another disparaging term that he uses in his response to my comment.

I want to point out, however, that reprinting my commentary here is not meant to legitimize or call attention to the highly focused concerns of the “Truthers” as key points of discussion for the Ron Paul Revolution. For, in my opinion, while finding out what really happened on 9/11 is important, it is not our urgent priority at this point in time.

Our #1 priority is to work singlemindedly for the election of Ron Paul to the Presidency of the United States. All other issues must give way and fall in line behind this principle focus. We are not working to promote Ron Paul as a servant of the "Truth Movement.” We are working to promote Ron Paul as a servant of the “Freedom, Peace, and Limited Government Movement” that we have called the Ron Paul Revolution. So, with that caveat, here is what I wrote earlier today:

* * * * * * * *

Yes, Evrviglnt, I agree. It was “an awful lot of writing.” But, there is so much to say to try to heal the divisiveness in this country, and I thank you for your thoughtful response. Indeed, your response was civil, particularly, given your very passionate vigilance in guarding America’s freedoms. Sometimes, I feel a bit like “Peter at the Dike” trying to stem the flow of intense passion that surges through the different holes in the seawall around the Republic.

Passion is something that I value highly. Without it, we become like slugs crawling through our existence. It is what infuses us with life and vitality. Thus, I really do appreciate your capacity for passion and its ability to move you to take action in America’s defense. However, I have become mindful of the need to insure that our capacity for passion does not run away with our rational intellect, or vice versa.

Imagine, if you will, two overlapping circles. One represents the “Emotional Mind.” The other represents the "Reasonable Mind." Mathematicians call this a Venn diagram. The area of overlap where passion and thought are integrated has been referred to by some as the “Wise Mind.” Most people tend to jump back and forth between their emotional minds and their reasonable minds, rather than seeking that quiet area where the two minds intersect and are used synergistically together. They either “react” with passion without much, if any, brakes applied to the expression of their emotion, or they obsess on ideas and think things to death. The area of “Wise Mind” gives individuals the capacity for thinking with their “Whole Minds.” Using the “Whole Mind” gives one the ability to see a larger picture and not just fragments of it.

Imagine, again, that you are standing in a room with your nose up against a door that is painted with vertical, red and white stripes, as on the American flag. All you see is an alternating field of red and white stripes. That is your view of your world.

Now, imagine further that someone else is in the room with you. That person is standing with his nose against one of three walls covered with wallpaper that is a field of tiny, white stars on a dark, blue background. That person’s view of the room (an analogy for his view of his world) is quite different from yours. He sees the world as a field of stars, as in the night sky. It is the dark blue that dominates his perception.

Finally, imagine a third person who is standing with her nose against the one wall that is painted a brilliant white. If all walls were painted in this scintillating white, it might be a bit overwhelming, thus, the wallpaper on the other walls dims the brightness a bit. Her wall, in fact, turns out to be the wall in which your door is situated.

So, if the three of you carry on a conversation or discussion, you will not be able to agree regarding the nature of the world (i.e., the room in which you are all situated). You will feel nothing in common with the others and you will, no doubt, regard them as either misguided or simply as “kooks.” Their personal “truth” is not your “truth” in any way, shape, or fashion.

The person who sees her world as all white gets a substantial proportion of what the world is like for you, so you don’t regard her view as quiet so foreign as the guy whose world is dark blue with only little splotches of white in it. Perhaps, you let her slide, but you vilify him as a “Troofer” who obviously hates your world because he comes out of darkness and cannot appreciate its brilliant red and white patriotic intensity.

Now, suppose that you take a very small step backward. Your visual field expands, and you now see that the red and white striped field is really a door that has a dark blue frame around it that is the same color as the background of the wallpapered wall of the “Troofer,” although you still cannot see his wall.

In other words, your perceptual view of your world has expanded and has become differentiated into different parts, i.e., the door and the door frame. You may even begin to see a hint of the white field around the door which is the wall seen by your female companion in the room. What a difference taking one step back from your ordinary way of viewing the world makes!

Evrviglnt, the world has the potential for creating a lot of different viewpoints. It all depends on the stances that we take. If we remain rigidly stuck in place, we will never be able to see that others have a little piece of the truth of this wonderfully diverse world, even those whom you say “slander my country with bloody inanities.” We are all standing in the same “World Room.”

It just so happens that the way our brains are constructed predisposes us to look at things in a particular way based on the experiences that we have in the “Room.” If we have never stepped back from the conditioning of our life experiences, then we can only see what we have been programmed by life and our genetic structure to see. It comes down to the fact that it is NOT “What you see is what you get.” It is, instead, “What you believe is what you get.” This is because our beliefs, developed out of our learning experiences, determine what we perceive (i.e., where we stand in the room). If you were to take another larger step back, i.e., suspend your beliefs for a moment, then you might see that the wall that the “Troofer” is observing, while limited like yours in not giving a full view of the Room, is none the less a part of the same Room (World) in which you dwell.

My point is that we need to respect the viewpoints of others as valuable inputs into building a more accurate representation of the nature of the “World Room” in which we all dwell and see in many varied ways. We may never be able to step back far enough from our positions to see the whole picture of the “Room.” We may not even at that point have a conception that we are all in the same room together. So, we need to use our intuitive "Wise Minds" to recognize that we need the views of others in all of their diversity to complement what we are seeing and thinking.

Seeing the white wall might be taken as symbolic of using the “Wise Mind.” White light contains all frequencies. It represents the capacity for appreciating both your red and white door with its blue frame and the blue and white wallpaper. I chose red to represent your passion and the white to represent your willingness to enter into “civil” discussion with a “nice doormat” such as me.

Accordingly, I must point out in this context, that “Troofers” are NOT all the same! There are those, admittedly, who pursue their cause with single minded devotion and passion that completely blinds them to the views of others and the fact that there are multiple views possible in the “World Room.” I, personally, now find it difficult to be patient with the relentless, almost mindless chanting of some who march around saying “9/11 was an inside job.” However, I have read the thoughtful, considered, scientifically-based opinions of a number of people, who I would not lump into the same category with the robotic chanters. These are professional people who hold responsible positions in society, but who are not satisfied, after analyzing the existing data, that the 9/11 Commission has covered all the bases. This does not mean that they believe that individuals in the government purposely orchestrated the 9/11 disaster at all. Such an idea is generally presented as only one of a number of possible scientific hypotheses that must be considered in view of the data. And, in this regard, I must also say that even if data did point unequivocally in this direction, it would not provide an indictment of the American People. It might only point to certain rogue elements who had come to power in the government "by hook or by crook," if you will pardon the pun. I am harkening back to Nixon's famous disclaimer, "I'm not crook."

It is a known fact that governments throughout the world and throughout history have attracted rogues, who often have extremely narcissistic, abusive personalities, or even those who manifest psychopathic or sociopathic character structures characterized by the lack of conscience. But, again, I must emphasize that the suggestion that there were such individuals involved in the government is only a hypothesis, not a purported fact. There are those who have advanced hypotheses for consideration that have pointed to individuals outside the government itself who may have had the criminal motive, and the lack of human conscience to orchestrate such a disaster. These have included foreign intelligence agents, such as the Mossad.

But, there are those many more numerous individuals who think the evidence points, perhaps, in the direction of incompetence and poor management of our resources and a resulting cover-up of the misdeeds. Ron Paul appears from my reading and viewing of his statements to fall in this category and so would support a new investigation.

To generate or pursue alternate hypothetical explanations for 9/11 does not make one a conspiracy theorist any more than does suggesting that Islamofascism is a movement bent on dominating the world. Both could be thought of in the same conspiratorial terms. It is a matter of collecting the evidence and evaluating it with the input of others who see different aspects of the "World Room."

As I see things, it is the passion of the unrelenting “Troofers” that conflicts with your patriotic passion. To you, their passion seems to grow out of darkness, out of something evil, it seems. But, this is from a perspective that arises from having your nose to the door (better than a grindstone, I think). It does not mean that “Troofers” hate America and that they are slandering your country “with bloody inanities.”

I have investigated Alex Jones. I do not agree with his way of going about things, just as I, likewise, don’t agree with your attacks on him and the “Troofers.” Just as you are passionate in your defense of America, he is also very passionate in pursuing his way of saving America; he does so, in my opinion, with no less intensity than you manifest. It is that you are both coming at the situation from very different viewpoints; you are both “ever vigilant” but in different ways. Both of you jump back and forth between your emotionally charged views and very reasonable, intellectual defenses of your positions, without spending, in my view, very much time at all in that area where wisdom inheres. He would tend to call you "a wing nut" in a no less intense way that you regard him and the other "Troofers" as "dimwitted, black hearted tools."

So, I believe that we need to look for viewpoints upon which we can agree and which unite us and not focus on what divides us. To do the latter, is to bleed off valuable, passionate energy in endless, emotional wrangling. We need to try to get beyond the position of not being able to see the forest for the trees, i.e., the room for the walls. We need to work toward dwelling in that area of whiteness that is the “Wise Mind” that encompasses all the colors of the “World Room.”

Both you and the “Troofers” are concerned about the security of America. That is something upon which you can all, I think, potentially agree, if all of you will just take a step backwards and see that your perspectives come from having your noses too close to your subjects. The “Wise Mind” position is to move back toward the center of the room, so that one views all of the walls, floor, ceiling, and the furniture of the room. The more that one steps back from his initial view, the more “wise” his view, the more he will see the component parts of the “World Room.”

Since this has grown long, I shall stop here and comment on your views regarding Ron Paul in a later posting, since I have studied him in depth, as I have the other candidates.

Thanks again for your thoughtful response.

The Main Point--A Reiteration

We have all had the experience of running headlong into someone who, even though civil, will regard the constitutional principles which we espouse as somehow "radical" or "wacky." Opposing or arguing with the person will only lead to endless wrangling that goes nowhere but to frustration quite quickly. In some cases, it may even lead to testiness and hot tempers. Needless to say, we have not made a convert. So, why waste our time on an activity that does not work.

Everyone tends to believe that their little part of the world is a microcosm for how the world really is, and, if others cannot see it their way, then they are ignorant or idiots. It is as if we were all standing with our noses against different parts of a gigantic room, the "World Room." We all are incredibly nearsighted as a result. Thus, we need to remain mindful of the fact that we each see only a part of this Room. Others see other parts. Our part is no more real or truthful than that of another person. Every viewpoint is a part of the great, big, noisy party that we call Existence.

Our "Truth" is personal, very personal. It doesn't exist "out there" for others to see. It has passed through the idiosyncratic filtering systems of our individual brains with their unique characteristics and experience. If we just remain mindful of this fact, then it is the most natural thing in the world to seek out areas of agreement with others to support what we are perceiving as the truth.

"Did you hear that buzz?" we ask a friend. "I didn't hear anything," our friend replies. So, we turn to another person and ask, "Did you hear it? Did you hear that weird buzz?" The person responds, "Yeah, I heard it. What was it?" Ahhh....we have found agreement. We have found someone and something on which we and the other person can agree.

Our task is as simple as the foregoing, i.e., always to check "our truth" against that of others without regarding them as stupid or ignorant for not thinking or believing the way that we do. We look for common ground. We find out what is important to them and where we share important concerns. Isn't that just natural? Do we normally go through life looking for uncommon ground with other folks?

I rest my case....cheers.....

To clear up something

My name true_believer is not saying anything about conspiracy of 9/11. I am a true believer in Jesus Christ. I take the stance of Ron Paul on 9/11. Any conspiracy I would recognize would be done by Satin and he never stops working on his theories. I believe Ron Paul is a blessing from God. I believe our nation is being measured right now. We have only two choices. If we listen and hear his voice he will be our God and we will be his people. if not! I dont want to think about it. It scares me. (more than terrorist or rich people who are power hungry).

Luke 12:4-5
(Matt 10:8-31)
"4 And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5 But I will show you whom you should fear : Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!

Just thought I would make all aware of where I stand.

No need to explain...

...true_believer, the nature your "true believing" is well documented in this thread. I do not think that smb12321 intended to focus on you. But, again, I would urge caution in quoting a lot of scripture on this site, because this, too, might seem extreme to some who do not share your belief, or at least not in the same way.

The best approach is to keep our personal religious, social, and personal beliefs for discussion with others of like mind, whether they be about 9/11, gay marriage, religion, or whatever. I think it helps to keep continually in mind the thought that we are, indeed, "an eclectic group of underdogs," as Trey007 put it. We are a mixed bag. People root for the underdog. People work their behinds off as underdogs. And, people win by starting out as underdogs. But, because we are a mixed bag, we must focus on those areas of agreement.

So, let's keep our attention fixed with laser intensity on what we all find positive in the Ron Paul Message, as you, yourself, have done on numerous occasions.

Dr Paul & the Conspiracy Wackos

As an '88 supporter, I feel I have the right to say something. It's evident from NPR & comments in the mainstream media that the conspiracy crowd is stealing the limelight and sabotaging the campaign. All the talk on Youtube & other forums about international Jewish conspiracies, the Illuminati, CFR plans for world domination, ancient cults, Bush & Nazis, aliens, etc make it appear that RP is supported by a bunch of nuts.

If someone disagrees with the findings of all the 911 investigations by professionals, fine. ("Alien Agenda" Jim Marrs does not count as a professional, sorry.) More evidence is needed than "I saw on the net" or "Alex Jones said" or "I just don't believe it." The reason the internet - and not the laboratory - is the home of conspiracy rumors is that real investigatory reports are peer reviewed for accuracy whereas wild claims need no source, evidence or testing. Everyone claims to have the "truth" yet they contradict one another - lol. The hijackers cannot simultaneously (1) never have existed, (2) be Mossad agents, (3) be under remote CIA mind control, (4) be dead AND (5) be walking around now. How secret is a grand plot if you can hear about it on Youtube?

The issues Dr Paul raises do not need all this garbage for explantion - just the gradual accumulation of power that comes with a world view that does not vaue individual liberty. Whether it's confiscatory taxes, "wars" for Peace, the "war" on drugs, "Patriot" Act, gun control, worthless currency or borders - all can be addressed without resorting to wild tales that make us seem, well, nutty. I don't mean to offend "True Believers" but the problem is not the Knights Templar or Zurich Bankers or Zionist advisors, it's a mindset that thinks the State should run our lives. If folks want to expound conspiracy theories, do so without invoking Dr P - that's all I ask.

Have a Nice Day

While I largely agree with you...

As a fellow '88 supporter (and I recall my delight at seeing a Ron Paul bumper sticker back then!) I'm mostly with you, but not on the CFR point. IMO the other candidates' CFR-support could be a campaign-issue (Dick Cheney seems to agree in that cool Pokerface video). The CFR seems to be a somewhat (but only somewhat...) secretive bunch which wants a UN-type one-world government, doesn't it? I don't think it's really a "conspiracy theory" to describe the CFR in that way, since it's their foreign policy we're opposing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_on_foreign_relations

shows that they seem to date back to the Wilson Administration. They're kinda the bipartisan, big government version of an "Anti-CATO-Institute" or "Anti-Future of Freedom Foundation" entity, but the thinktank is only part of what they do. Many people in the control freak lobby dislike and distrust CATO or other libertarian thinktanks, so as a libertarian I'm inclined to distrust the CFR. Still, I hope I can explain my distrust of CFR-candidates in terms beyond some secret conspiracy. -- That would be the Skull & Bones department! ;^)

The "good" news, for both sides, is that usually people vastly overestimate how well their political opposition is organized. Still, these guys have been around and gaining influence for quite a while. They aren't stupid at all, despite the fact that they're wrong about the Constitution.
JMR

What Does CFR Membership Really Mean?

We need to be careful, I think, when we condemn someone for belonging to the CFR, especially in the context of the campaign. It is important to keep in mind that the CFR appears to be arranged in the form of concentric circles. The outer rings are comprised of people who probably don't have a clue in most cases as to what is going on centrally at the core. They regard membership as good because focusing on foreign relations issues improves their credibility with the public and and becomes good for their resumes.

In my opinion, it is probably better not to talk about the CFR in the context of political promotion of Ron Paul, since it will be likely to trigger the "wacko," conspiracy theorist label.

Are You Supporting The Ron Paul Peace And Freedom Movement?

The Ron Paul Revolution is ready to absorb anyone who supports spreading the message of Peace and Freedom. But, it will resist being absorbed or co-opted by special interests, just as Ron Paul has demonstrated in his public behavior, no matter how worthy they may be deemed by some to be.

I did not intend my post, "Ron Paul Versus Truth Decay" to serve as a platform for the Truth Movement. I, as well as many other dedicated participants, have asked, for the sake of the campaign, that people restrict their comments here to the goal of electing Ron Paul to the Presidency of this Republic for which we must stand, indivisible, pursuing a common purpose in the interest of liberty and justice for all. Perhaps, I strayed from that path myself in my post; however, I thought that I had included sufficient reminders of our common purpose in the article. If I have inadvertently opened a can of worms, I can only sincerely apologize.

Let's get to work...first step....read Trey007's excellent "how to" article. It is a MUST READ. He speaks from a wealth of experience in persuasion and promotion. Take heed of his words...

http://www.dailypaul.com/node/1461

But, before you do this, read my more lengthy comment in response to Thomas below. It is entitled:

We are "an eclectic group of underdogs"...

I agree

I can see that Trey007's is very good persuasion and promotion. I would argue that we are very fortunate in that we already posses the persuasion his name is Ron Paul (and his message of freedom through the constitution). It seems to me we need the promotion part. I'm a democrate in a republican forum and all I had to do was see one video of the man. I never heard of Ron Paul until I heard his name on a prophacy internet show. They said Ron Paul was against the Real ID. That one stance caught my attention. The same day I heard of a man that was also opposed to the Real ID. His name is Alex Jones (and I must say i dont agree with every thing he says but I feel he loves his country). I took in what Alex had to say and the name Ron Paul come up agian. At this point I stopped and typed Ron Paul in the search engine. That is how I found my president. I buy new ink for my printer every weekend and print flyers. me and my daughter go to all the walmarts and put about 200 flyers a weekend on cars. I also hand them out to people when I get gas or go to the store. I simple ask if they have ever heard of Ron Paul. Most say no who is he. I say hes running for president. I ask them, "would you like a flyer it will tell you more about him". They never turn it down. They feel embarassed they didnt know who was running for for president. Most people read it as they walk off. I love the feeling of giving someone a little knowledge they cant get from the mainstream media. I feel like it is our job to promote Ron Paul.I think he does a fine job of persuasion.
Vote yes for Dr. Know.

You go True Believer

We appreciate the effort. We're having our first meetup in Naples, FL tomorrow. I try to tell at least 3 people a day personally. We should have September as our "double the effort month."

Side note: I saw where we were missing the 30yr. old plus groups, so especially need to focus there.

Bob W., Naples, FL

Bob W., Naples, FL

I am grateful...

...for all the people like you, true_believer. You are illustrative of the power of Dr. Paul's message of individual freedom. Thanks for all that you do. Being a former Democrat, you are in a great position to speak to others who are not happy with their choices, like so many have been for so many years. It is nice to have a choice other than Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dum.

I think that Trey007's emphasis on finding out points of agreement is very important.

http://www.dailypaul.com/node/1461

I like his idea

of finding two common talking points. I also like the idea of having cards made up for people who are shy to study talking points. I dont really have the shy thing ill talk to anybody at any time. Im sure that is obvious my name is all over this place. hehe I know the guys I work with make fun of me cause I can talk about anything to anybody. Oh yeah they all know the name Ron Paul. I work in construction and my four wheel drive GMC is a bill board.
keep up the good work guys vote yes to Dr. know

Once Again For Thoese That Haven't Seen This Site

These people are extremely credible, and yes Ron Paul is on the main page like it or not.

http://patriotsquestion911.com/

We are talking about 110+ Senior Military, Intelligence Service, Law Enforcement, and Government Officials, 180+ Engineers and Architects, 150+ Professors,50+ Pilots and Aviation Professionals
.What gives people? 2/3 of America does not believe the Govt Official version of what happened on 9/11.Who do you think Ron is running against?Georges daddy called it The New World Order and this is well documented. When he talks about sound money who is he going against? The Federal Reserve and yes folks it's one of the grandest conspiracies ever.Yes men did conspire to take control of our money and they did it very shrewdly. It was their second attempt. Read The Creature From Jeckyle Island for all the details.
In my opinion if Ron Paul makes it to the White House after repealing all the unconstitutional executive orders and laws the first order of business should be a full as neutral as humanely possible reinvestigation of 911 and if anyone in our Govt is found to be complicit (active or passive) they should pay the price prescribed by our laws. For all you people that have issues with the 911 truthers, tough cookies, we are going to have to deal with this issue sooner or later because it is not going to go away, and for all of those that do not believe people in our Govt could have let it happen or actually take part in doing it, grow up Govts murder and commit genocide against their own people since we've had them and ours is not any different.

We are "an eclectic group of underdogs"...

...with primary emphasis on "underdogs." This means that first and foremost, we have our sights collectively set on a goal that is at the top of a huge mountain, and although we are motivated mountaineers of all types, we face an incredibly difficult, uphill struggle, because we are facing adversaries all along our trek who are trying with their utmost ability to push us back down the slope or even off a precipice.

We are individuals drawn from all walks of life and from all political and philosophical persuasions. We each have beliefs, which others may not share, but we are advancing up the mountain and succeeding because we are all subordinating our most treasured beliefs and concerns to the primary task of electing Dr. Ron Paul to the Presidency of the United States of America. And, we must redouble our efforts to do this and to encourage our peers to do the same, especially when they become passionately expressive of what they think is the single most important issue to be addressed.

In regard to the need for a re-investigation of 9/11, there are many who would agree, as evidenced by Thomas' link to the "patriots question" web site and by a lot of other publications which individuals can search out for themselves. BUT...in my considered opinion, that is NOT a concern which is appropriately pursued on this website, which is at one of the focal points of the Ron Paul campaign. Furthermore, I do not think that Ron Paul was placed on the "patriots question" site with his approval, and I would advise that everyone not connect him with this site, regardless of how you may feel about the issue or the reliability of the site.

Because we are an eclectic group, we have room for a lot of people with radically differing viewpoints. All are welcome into our huge and expanding tent....IF...they agree to focus on the primary purpose for which we have come together and to put their pet issues, for the time being, on a back burner, hot, but removed from the Ron Paul campaign. That primary purpose again is to spread the "Freedom and Peace Message" as presented by Dr. Paul.

It is essential to recognize, and to understand, that we must do first things first. We must first gain the Republican nomination for Ron Paul; then, we must gain the Presidency; and only then will we have a person in power who will resist, as he has always resisted, the attempt of the moneyed elite and special interests to buy his cooperation. Only then will we have a person in the Presidency who will be rational and open enough to take steps toward setting things right, whether it be in supporting a new investigation of 9/11 or whatever.

In order to do this, a Herculean task which we gladly undertake, it is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL, in my opinion, that we do everything in our power not to feed the irrational conceptions that are being promoted that Ron Paul is "wacky"and is backed primarily by "kooks." This notion is the "kiss of death" for a political campaign.

We have to be diverse and open enough to incorporate a lot of different people, including all those who do not actively follow political campaigns, like we do, and who do not have access to, or have not been motivated to obtain, the unbiased information that we have. These are the people on whom the election will turn, and they are not sufficiently informed about the 9/11 issue to make a rational assessment; so all they are left with are their emotional reactions that are fed by the mass media that characterizes any suggestion of re-investigation of 9/11 as being the work of conspiracy theorists who hate America and want to see it fall, which, of course, could not be further from the truth in the great majority of cases.

But, the point remains that the Ron Paul Revolution must avoid like the plague being perceived by the ordinary citizen as supporting such purported "radical groups." Truth groups may support us. But, we must make a point, and Ron Paul has done this, of not advancing their concerns. He is open-minded, but not a supporter of 9/11 Truth in general. They support him. That's okay. There is room for all. As I read his remarks, he is supportive of a new investigation, but with no preconceived theory as to what underlay the disaster.

Dr. Paul has categorically stated that he does not believe that the government orchestrated the disaster, and this is what the ordinary American wants to hear, because people are afraid and depend on the government to protect them. The typical person cannot even begin to entertain the idea that governmental officials could have been involved in a "conspiracy" that would result in the murder of thousands of people. To them, this is absolutely ridiculous. We have to quell this fear or we lose potential supporters. This may not square with your beliefs, but the bottom line, folks, is that we will only be able to make inroads in whatever way concerns us, individually, when we have a friendly, humane, open-minded soul in the White House, who knows from 20 years of legislative experience to be wary of what the government says or promises.

So, to sum up, there is room for us all in the Ron Paul Revolution, but we must focus on the whole enchilada, not the jalapeno peppers that burn mouths when consumed in isolation. The 9/11 Truth issue is definitely a jalapeno pepper for a large segment of the public. You can force it into their mouths, but be quite assured that most will spit it out, unless they are like my father who used to eat the hottest jalapenos raw! And, they will end up not trusting you in the future; you can count on that.

Now, let's get to work so that we will all have someone in the White House who will listen with an open and rational mind to each of our concerns regarding liberty, freedom, and peaceful coexistence.

First step...read Trey007's article, "A winning RP Team."

http://www.dailypaul.com/node/1461

Too long, but correct

Yes indeed, let's all really focus on the job at hand which is the GOP nomination because all else means littile without it. If we have any other agenda worth spending time, it is the the way votes are counted....equally as important as rounding up voters for RP.

Happy Birthday Dr. P! We all want to give you a belated birthday present in the way of a GOP nomination on your way to the Whitehouse.

Some like it hot...some like it long...

...and some like it NOT!

You can please some of the people some of the time...(smile)

Thanks, Bob, for your vote of confidence.

You found the common ground, even though you had to wade through the Okefenokee Swamp to find it, huh?

Three Cheers for Ron Paul's Birthday! It is already August 20th on the mainland.

Hip, hip, hooray...hip, hip, hooray...hip, hip, hooray!!!

There are various opinions.

There is only one Truth! I would advise stepping backwards and listening to the One Pontius Pilate was talking to.

And, with all due respect...

...your statement that "There is only one Truth," is itself one of the "various opinions." When I step back, I do not see "one Truth." I see people with their own perceived/conceived versions of the TRUTH, whatever that ultimately may be. I see people who each have some limited portion of the truth--even when "the Truth" is given to them ready made by "The Good Book" or the "The Koran" or even Chairman Mao's Little Red Book.

And again, with all due respect, true_believer, your comment is illustrative of precisely the point that I was making about those who believe that they have “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,” so help them God.

Another analogy that I use is that the Universe is like a diamond, a Cosmic Diamond, that has an incredibly large number of facets or faces, at least one for every person on the planet. What we each see is one particular facet. But, we all, whether Christian, Muslim, Doctor, Lawyer, of Indian Chief, are looking at the same Diamond. If that represents your "one Truth," then we are in agreement.

I do not wish, however, to make this into a religious discussion because that is not the purpose of this site. We are here to elect Dr. Ron Paul to the Presidency of the United States of America. Most of us writing on this site feel that this is the critical issue that takes priority over EVERYTHING else for the moment. Accordingly, I and others have asked that people subordinate their pet issues and concerns to our common goal here.

I do, however, sincerely appreciate your reading my commentary and responding to it. Mahalo, as we say in Hawaii.

I am sorry

Likkerish I am sorry if I offended you that was not my intention I assure you. The first sentence of your post is what attracted me to comments. I believe that the scripture this comes from has a very important lesson in it. I just felt the need to point out what it means as a whole. To only write part of it does the scripture an injustice. If you notice I did not say I had the truth I simply pointed to the one that claimed he did.

31Therefore the Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death,"
32 that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled which He spoke, signifying by what death He would die.
33 Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?"
34 Jesus answered him, "Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?"
35 Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?"
36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here."
37 Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?"
Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."
38 Pilate said to Him, "What is truth ?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them,"I find no fault in Him at all.
John 18:38

In your example of the diamond; saying that all belief look into the same diamond. I just do not see that in this story. I see one man claim to have the diamond while the other claims not to even know what a diamond is. This is a choice that I believe we all have to make. Which one of these men do we believe. All men have choice. That’s called freedom. And I believe that’s where we agree with this campaign keeping government out of individuals debates on issues such as this. If left on our own to figure these things out we then have liberty to voice our opinions. With this system our ideas will either merge, Our we can believe different things. This again is freedom. We also have rights. Using your example with colors. Mine being blue and your being red. My rights end when they get to yours and vise versa. There is no merge (purple) of my rights and your rights they are individual rights. This works just as well with beliefs there are no purple beliefs if I come to a red belief and I believe it. I am red. Making beliefs purple has a name its relativism.
rel•a•tiv•ism

Pronunciation: (rel'u-tu-viz"um), [key]
—n. Philos.
any theory holding that criteria of judgment are relative, varying with individuals and their environments.
the•o•ry

Pronunciation: (thē'u-rē, thēr'ē), [key]
—n.,
—pl. -ries.
1. a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena: Einstein's theory of relativity.
2. a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.
3. Math.a body of principles, theorems, or the like, belonging to one subject: number theory.
4. the branch of a science or art that deals with its principles or methods, as distinguished from its practice: music theory.
5. a particular conception or view of something to be done or of the method of doing it; a system of rules or principles.
6. contemplation or speculation.
7. guess or conjecture.

There cannot be a world government without one world religion (black). So there must be a breaking down of the entire red and blue first. Mix all the colors together and you get (black). There will be no other option. Obey (black) our die! That’s not freedom! You might not be a brother (blue) in my church, but you are my neighbor (white) and I would die for you to have the right to your beliefs (red). My only advice is for us all to keep searching for the diamond.

I sincerely hope I do not offend anyone with my opinions. I love all my countrymen.
And vote yes for Dr. know

Becoming the "truly faithful"...and the soul of the Revolution

True_believer...no offense taken, I assure you. Again, I appreciate your thoughtful response to my analogy of the "Cosmic Diamond". I would encourage you to reconsider the analogy of the "World Room." This is especially important, I think, because it calls attention to the the fact that we are often very limited, even at times blinded, by the fact that our noses are up against a wall and we are looking at things from a near-sighted perspective.

The reported words of Christ saying essentially that he was seeing the one Diamond may again be a part of the truth. He certainly may have stepped back far enough to see "the whole enchilada." But, you do not have his perception. You do not have his mind and brain and experience, whatever that may have been. You only have your perception based on your particular kind of brain and your unique experience. This has led you to "believe" that the "truth" that has been vouchsafed to you from others and the biblical record (as inadequate as it may or may not have been) is the "one Truth." That is a huge leap in my mind, and it comes from your inner subjective experience and not from fallible human words, then it is a leap of what I would call "faith" and that is very different from "belief" and believing.

Faith comes from the intuitive experience of the "Wise Mind." On the other hand, belief comes from the rational or reasoning mind. We believe what we have been prepared to believe. If you had been born Hindu, for example, or Muslim, it would have been very difficult for you to get past this belief and to embrace Christianity as your "truth."

But, again, I respect your belief. I would just reiterate that belief is fallible because the human mind is fallible and all or our records are the products of human minds and their fallibility. We need to recognize, I think, that each or us whether Christian, agnostic, Buddhist, Taoist, Muslim, or even atheist may have a piece of the "TRUTH," i.e., the whole Diamond. We need all of the pieces to put the puzzle together.

It would be silly, I think, to rely on one piece to give us the whole picture, unless, of course, we think of our one piece as being part of a holographic Diamond and that this one piece has all of the information in it about the Diamond. The only problem is that the smaller is that piece, the more we lose clarity and sharpness of focus. The information is all there, but it may be very fuzzy, and also we will have to move our piece around across our mind's eye in order to see the whole Diamond.

So, again, we need all of the pieces. Personally, I believe that we do each have a holographic piece that potentially can allow us to see the whole picture. However, often we don't realize that, because neither our "Reasonable Mind" nor our "Emotional Mind" leads to holographic perception and thinking. It is our "Wise Mind" that has the capacity for seeing and conceiving holographically the whole Diamond. But, we must remember that we are fragments and we still need others, particular since our ordinary minds tend very strongly to keep our noses to the wall or the grindstone.

So, I would suggest that we all consider becoming not "true believers" but the "truly faithful" with convictions that derive from being able to step away from the wall of our perception, thought, and belief and to perceive the wholeness of all of Existence with the wisdom of our holographic minds and to, thus, realize that we are all valuable participants in that whole.

I'll leave you with one further analogy. Take an ordinary piece of 8.5 x 11 typing printer paper and stick it to your face. Then, imagine that you had to go through life this way...or that you have been going through life this way. What would it be like? And, what would happen if you were to move the paper away a few inches, or a few feet, or perhaps just dropped it altogether?

Cheers....

Finding Fragments of "Truth" That We Share

Be sure to read Trey's article, "A Winning RP Team" after reading this one. He talks about the importance of looking for the areas of agreement with others in recruiting them to the RP Team.

In other words, step back from your primary focus and look at the "truth" which others perceive and speak to them in their terms, not yours.
