Why conservatives should favor legalizing marijuana....

(CNN) -- If there is one clear emotion emerging before November's U.S. congressional elections, it is that citizens across the political spectrum are worried about government spending and a perceived lack of government accountability regarding where tax dollars are spent.

Oddly, the government's approach to the illegal drug problem -- which has cost U.S. taxpayers more than $2.5 trillion since former President Richard Nixon first declared America's "war on drugs" -- has been largely immune from this concern.

Thanks meek, for continuing to post

all these great Mox videos.

I have a friend in Oregon

who has a medical card & she just grows the pot she smokes. It's fantastic stuff & hardly costs her anything. She gives it away to her friends.

Marijuana proposition losing ground, poll shows

Californians are souring on a ballot measure to legalize adult recreational use and cultivation of marijuana, according to a new poll conducted by the Public Policy Institute of California.

The poll found that 44 percent of likely voters support Proposition 19, the marijuana ballot measure, while 49 percent are opposed. The results are a significant decline from last month, when the same survey found Prop. 19 leading 52 to 41 percent.

Marijuana illegal in Cali.?

Haha,I've lived in California for all of my 52 years. People have been growing and smoking openly everywhere I look ,and have been since the mid 60's! Why the heck anyone would waste a perfectly good 80 + bucks for a card that says that you can do what you already do baffels me... Wow Man.Heavy

Wouldn't surprise me

seeing CNN pieces like this. They sure highlighted the two giggling goobers.

I would imagine there has been a full court propaganda press, trying to demonize cannabis.

I wish I could vote on it. I have encouraged family and friends to vote, which wasn't that hard.

...lol...and still not a peep about HEMP...

...until we start saying LEGALIZE HEMP...(ALL of it, in ALL it's forms-with and without the THC), this pathetic circus of a protest will continue, with it's "medicinal marijuana" cards, people "cheating the system" (which should NOT EVEN EXIST IN THE FIRST PLACE), ad nausium...
...remove the unconstitutional laws forbiding it's growth(.)
...or is that too much to comprehend all at once?...lol
...c'mon folks, seriously...
...not limited to "derp"..."medicinal marijuana"..."derp"...

...I'm kinda thinking these two are in on the whole NWO deal anyway (the REAL one), so by them publicly announcing they are the NWO, they can pave the way to not only take the focus off the real NWO and put it on themselves, but also pave the way so there counties can be bombed to oblivion and taken over by the U.S., forming a more perfect One World Order. The scum in control benefit while the peoples of those countries will be ruined and further brought under control of the REAL NWO...

I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees...

Thanks for the post...

I don't think the cops are qualified to gauge how many people who have cards actually need them since they aren't doctors. But hey, police or the government not knowing what they're talking about has never stopped them before.

I'm curious as to what the medical marijuana cards did to the price of marijuana. Anyone know how much it goes for in California now?

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

as far as I know there was no change in price

I have no respect for the growers or sympathy for what may happen to them for signing on officially as pot users. Illegal drugs are expensive because there is high risk involved in the trade. You could spend your life in prison so it'd better be worth it, right? Well, the medical marijuana growers didn't reduce the price once their risk factor was lifted and make affordable this wonderful cure-all herb to all those who need it. No, generally speaking, they went on charging the same price. I hear it's even more expensive in the dispensaries than on the street.

The people of the US have been so morally dumbed down and disconnected with each other that even the 'Peace Love & Harmony' crowd can't pass up a chance to cash in on sick people and on laws that they feel are wrong. I was abroad for decades and I'm sickened to see how my country was turned into a nation of people who would gladly screw each other in their blind quest for... more. Luckily, we can shift it all back to a more connected, less materialistic society quite easily. No lobbying, or petitioning, no raising money, no winning elections or convincing others necessary. You just change yourself. All it takes is just for each one of us to start living better lives based on what is right and wrong, and not on what works out best for us materialistically. And you growers can start by giving me some free pot.

in colorado

the price of a pound dropped from around $4000-$5000 to $3000-$4000 in the last year. the number of disp in Denver went from around 5 or 10 in 2009 to around 700-800 in 2010.

prices might crash soon

"Legalization" aside, from what I understand, everybody and their grandma is growing the stuff now - even people who don't smoke it. Many need money and more are looking into growing pot. Even with this years mold problem, there seems to be a huge supply available. But generally, prices are still RIDICULOUSLY HIGH. It's a damn weed.

I have a friend in CA who is wasting away from MS and is now a wheelchair bound quadriplegic medical marijuana user. Though he was there in the early days fighting for the right to use medical marijuana, he is now so disabled that he can't even grow it himself anymore. And he can't afford it from the dispensaries. He's not the only one.

With Prop 19 on the horizon (the Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act), and with the media reporting it as the legalization of marijuana, Prop 19 might pass and then you can add the cost of regulating, controlling, and taxing to the bottom line.

Marijuana is easy to grow and the risk of imprisonment was eliminated for legal growers, due to the efforts of real sick people like my friend. Generally speaking, legal pot growers are raking it in big time, charging the most they can get for their "medicine". Just like the pharmaceutical industry. The pot growers have been taking advantage of bad unconstitutional laws placed on the rest of the population. I'm currently in an area with many people who grow pot. You can see them around with their "liberal" t-shirts and bumper stickers that read, "People Over Profits" or "No Blood For Oil". I wonder if they have a clue to how much blood has been spilled because of the high prices of marijuana.

But on a more positive note, I'm seeing more and more people reducing their prices or even giving away their medicine to patients who can't afford it. I hope things to get better for my friend soon.

That the price has not changed may only illusrate that the

"black market", I uhm... mean free market in mj... that existed prior to medical use, may already have been priced appropriately.

Risk? Just take one look at Eric Holder and tell me that mj growers no longer face any risk?

it's not a free market if it's illegal is it?

have a look

I don't believe there is no risk - in fact I mentioned it. But the growers believed there is no risk but didn't reduce their price.

Not sure what your "Ha!" is about but I guess it was supposed to "get" me good...

we are the Remnant

I suppose you believe health

I suppose you believe health care is a right and should be free. You probably believe all medicine should be free, and food and shelter as well.

What about the marketplace determining price? Free market? What makes you entitled to someones good or service for free? What did you do to deserve free weed? Someone had to labor over it to produce it. If you don't like the price, grow your own.

"The world is a dynamic mess of jiggling things, if you look at it right." - Richard Feynman

no I don't believe those things

but I believe the concept of free market doesn't apply to things kept illegal

the free weed part was a joke, and I did grow my own. gave it away too. I've also grown tomatoes. That took a lot more effort.

if you have more assumptions about me to maintain whatever your belief is, I may not be able to address them as I'm getting offline. But feel free, if it makes you feel right by making assumptions to vilify me.

I'll just assume you are a legal grower charging people the illegal price because you still can.
