Mainstream Media Tactic Has Backfired
Okay, the MSM has largely ignored Ron Paul and called him the fringe longshot that will not win. This tactic has backfired in two separate ways:
1) First, it has propelled the grassroots into greater action than I think would have happened otherwise. There might have been some complacency if Ron Paul had received more fair and frequent coverage. But since that didn't happen, the grassroots formed into this massive movement that will exist long after the 2008 election.
However, I think Ron Paul was smart back in May after that debate when he had the exchange with Giuliani. The moment he presented Giuliani with a Reading List is the moment I believe Ron Paul became a first-tier front runner. That, to me is the first defining moment of the campaign. Giuliani, the annointed nominee by the MSM was reduced to looking like an ignorant fool.
2) Since Ron Paul is considered a longshot, his place in rotation on news programs was last on show after show. Guess what? THIS IS A GOOD THING! Only two things matter most: first impressions and last impressions. People tend to forget everything in the middle. So Ron Paul is going to be the last to appear on Meet the Press. That is wonderful news. He gets to be the candidate to leave a last impression. Now the voters will remember him more clearly than the others because his appearance was more recent. Hehehe, it looks like MSM has done Ron Paul an inadvertent favor by pushing all of Ron Paul's turns in rotation to just a couple weeks before the Primaries and Caucuses. Who needs to pay for commercials and other advertising when you have that?

Where's the McCaferty Link ???
He said it best in his story today...
"We are enthuastic and many of Dr. Paul Supporters write in THANK YOU EMAILS for the coverage EVERYTIME we have discussed him on our program"... It's the old SUGAR vs. VINEGAR argument here. We have read the post before, and know we often sound very distasteful. This is no way to win friends in news rooms where we might actually have support behind the scenes. I think a "Charm Campaign" might be a better approach. Look at the Austin Meet Up Videos on YouTube. They have HUGE NUMBERS and they are very NICE!!!! Just my humble opinion.....
Media, polls and the end results.
You know, when the first Fox News debate occured I was transfixed on Ron's performance. I never thought that Ron would run. He was now in his 70's and had never attempted to run before except as a Libertarian. I was sure that after this first debate he would be crushed in the debate polls and would shortly drop out from lack of funds. Well, look what happened:
He won the first and all the debate polls. I remember when Sean Hannity started to lose control of his mental bowels and blamed it on "spammers". I was shocked. In fact, if you are old enough to remember the feeling of hearing that JFK was dead, then you can double that, and it would come close to the feeling of how I reacted to that first debate poll.
I remember when the mainstream media predicted that Ron was through with Rudy JulieAnnie took Ron to task over Iraq and 9-11. The talking heads on Fox said Ron was finished. Many thought so. Well, look what happened:
Ron went on to trounce JulieAnnie in both debate polls and fundraising. He now has more cash on hand that any other Republican candidates, according to some blogs.
I remember when George Steponallofus told Ron Paul that he would never be elected. Well, remember the almost unbelievable poll results? Remember the fundraising results? I think that every unbelievable aspect of this campaign has been made quite obviously factual by the fact that we have more supporters that anyone can staticise. We are breaking new ground. Polling tactics are obviously not keeping up with the Ron Paul tactics of grassroots activism that has time and time again proven that mainstream quantification of the factual choices people have made towards a candidate is not accurate, and way way off.
I am going to predict that Ron Paul will once again, like he did in the past, suprise us all. He will win in the primaries. He will grab the nomination and he will be victorious and will be our next President.
In the end, George Steponallofus' arrogant prediction will be just another incorrect statistic. It will happen.
"I, Ronald Ernest Paul, do solomly swear, that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States. And will, to the best of my abililty, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God."
Get ready to hear that, come January 2009.

Thanks man..
I needed that tonight. I'm just feeling like after all the work we all did for this amazing Money Bomb, and to have the Old Douche Media ignore us, it kinda felt like having sex without the orgasm..After reading your post, I fell a lot better!
Thanks...

Interesting Points
I agree with you on the timing of pushing RP to the rear, just like what the CNN debate tried to do--blowing back and with the nice 30 sec youtube video of the RP rEVOLution and RP's great response, it made him a WINNER! in that debate. Thanks for showing us the silver lining in the thunderclouds.
Point #1 would have cured my
Point #1 would have cured my bitterness over this issue if I were the bitter type.
Point #2 - I'm too jazzed he's on Meet the Press to be bothered with logic right now.

Bump for some responses.
I do have to add one
I do have to add one comment, though. Ron Paul has received some MSM attention. He has not been shut out 100% of the time.
If we are to legitimately complain about the lack of attention, or inaccurate stories, we must acknowledge those occasions he is recognized fairly and accurately.
I think gratitude is in order for those occasions. If we are going to be considered a legitimate movement, we have to be more than bitter complainers all the time. Some people, even in the MSM, have some admiration for Ron Paul. But if they constantly get slammed by irate and delusional Ron Paul supporter, they will just think, "Forget this! The supporters wanted coverage. I gave them coverage. Yet they still complain."
We don't want MSM to believe that it is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE RON PAUL SUPPORTERS!!!! THERE MUST BE A BASELINE THAT MEANS WE WILL BE HAPPY IF THIS BASELINE IS ACHIEVED!
Good point
Either way, we cannot demand of a private enterprise, regardless of what we expect a truely free press ought to be. Let's assume we won't get any attention, just like we have always known deep in our hearts and work harder....and yeah, thank them whenever they happen to take a quick glance at our movement. Even Cafferty mentioned that the Paulites are very appreciative. This is a hint to be generous with our thank yous to people who acknowledge us.
I hope they keep it up!
It'll just motivate every Ron Paul supporter to vote in the primaries, and make the others either think they don't have to vote, or split their votes between the war-mongers.

I do too..
and I almost am tempted to pray for bad weather. We all know who will vote no matter how bad it is.

In fact, OM continue to
In fact, OM continue to ignore us will bode well in the primaries since it makes them drop their guards and complacent. While I hope that we will pleasantly surprise them and ourselves in the polls.
You Are Right
....plus at some point it will become obvious to all that Old Media sways the inattentive mind at will.
I, too, believe that the lack of early attention may become a blessing. And while we may all be irate over "stick and stones" like 'fringe' etc., the people who need to get on board and learn about Dr. Paul have heard nothing. There has been some really negative things about other candidates....they will never find dirt on Dr. Paul. There isn't any.
