Founding Publisher of "Skeptic" magazine Michael Shermer, turns out to be a Fraud and a Liar

Here is the latest You Tube installment depicting the unfolding saga implicating Michael Shermer, Claremont Graduate University and University of Lethbridge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJftglWFUBM Michael Shermer delivered a lecture at the University of Lethbridge on September 23, 2010 entitled “Why People Believe Weird Things,” in which he attempted to discredit those who are skeptical about 9/11 by conflating such investigators with Holocaust Deniers and UFO spotters. Stunned and perplexed by this substandard approach to 9/11 Studies Professor Hall and I resolved to critically investigate Shermer, suspecting that he could not possibly be someone who has had to meet the rigorous standards of peer-review as is the case with authentic scholars.

Well, duh

I once saw Michael Shermer on television say mercury in vaccines can't be related to childhood autism, because thimerosal was removed from vaccines in 1992 and there's been no decrease in the incidence of autism since. The part he left out is it was removed from dog vaccines, and is still legal to use in human vaccines to this day!

Good to see I always thought Michael was a shady character.

Also does anyone have an update on David Ray Griffin's health status?

Jefferson you just fiqured that out ?

His alias is Shermer the SHILL !! LOL !!!!

Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow

Hey Jefferson,

I'm glad you found this and posted it too.

I posted a topic about this a week or two ago, but unfortunately I posted it in the "off topic" section before I realized that the "off topic" section is the place where nobody looks.

http://www.dailypaul.com/node/146550

Certainly is telling about this character, and what he is.
Not that anybody is really surprised about it.
I certainly wasn't.

BTW

I'd be happy to delete this thread and bump yours. I don't care who gets credit for what, as long as the info gets out there. I'm sure you don't care either, but I thought I would offer just in case.

I really wish you had broadband. There is a whole world of films, and documentaries out there, that have really broadened my perspective. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything new. Do you ever feel like you miss out, because of the dial up situation?

I don't care about my thread.

This thread is in the right forum, and at least it will get some views.

Yeah, I miss alot with the dial-up limitations.
But, I do get alot of the message vicariously thru other people discussing the videos, so I can keep up pretty well.

If I was just a newbie, I'd need to watch all those videos, but I knew most of what's going on for years before I ever got on the internet.
This new stuff is just details, and I can plug these details into the big picture without much trouble.

I can tell

from the insight you bring to the table, that you are pretty much on target. Your analysis is generally spot on, as far as I am concerned. I've never questioned that.

It's just that there are a few films that have come out recently, I would like to share sometimes, that bring the picture into an even clearer focus.

Things have seemed to have gotten so convoluted lately. There is definitely a concerted effort to try and deceive folks.
We most certainly live in interesting times.

Yes, the recent methods of deception being used

are the "overload of conflicting information from many sources".
This leaves the people with a quandary of not knowing what to believe. And so they are paralyzed, like a deer in the headlights.

The only way out is being well-grounded, and knowing where their goals are, you you can pick their intentions and actions out of a haystack of information. I do this by years of study, and recognizing their key words and phrases, and ways of speaking, and knowing that there is a road that they will have to take between here and where they are going. If you know the road, you can pick out the markers that they plant along the way.
This is why I don't envy the newbies, because they are gonna have a rough time doing this with very little experience at it.

And it really doesn't help to have these planted agents of obfuscation in here confusing people either. It really irks me to have to put up with them.
But it just comes with the territory.

"overload of conflicting information from many sources"

My brother and I were just having the same conversation last night.

Not only has this information overload caused a society that literally doesn't interact with each other, it also seems to have created an environment where we no longer recognize true statesmen, or heroes.

I have to be honest. I have been fighting this "deer in the headlights" syndrome lately.

I have done my part to support candidates locally, and abroad with what limited resources I have. I have also done my best to brace for impact as well.

I'd like to think we can donate our way out of this thing, but that is just wishful, foolish thinking. I have donated when I could, but in hindsight, I would have rather invested my money in something else, after seeing some disappointing results.

I have recognized my limitations, and do my best to plant seeds when I can, but bracing for impact seems to be the most logical choice at this point.

"And it really doesn't help to have these planted agents of obfuscation in here confusing people either. It really irks me to have to put up with them."

I can understand your frustration, but I think you give them too much credit. Given time, they eventually show their agenda, and pretty much lose any credibility they ever had. One in particular comes to mind who thinks he is cute and clever, but slipped up a few weeks ago, and wrote that part of his "role" was "muffling the bigots and truthers" I thanked him for revealing what he did, and amazingly got no response.
He cut his ____ on the fence last time when he tried to shame Quilting because of some questions she raised. He will do it again. It is only a matter of time.

I just laugh at their feeble attempts to try and squelch discussion, or control content through shame and manipulation. I hope that others see through it as well.
I basically treat them like they are a senile person sitting in the corner babbling the same ole same ole. I am getting better at my personal ignore function.

One positive development, is that there are no longer any moderators that fall for their behind the scenes deception, and lobby to let them come back.

I'm glad the brakes got slammed on that silliness.

Bracing for impact

is a good idea.

We're gonna hit the wall.
I'm all for sounding positive, but it's too late to turn out of the way. We're gonna hit.

As you know, this is a "world crisis" for a reason. This is the movement into the next global phase, and there must be great pain to ensure compliance. The jaws of the trap have to look like the "only way out". And that's how it will be presented, and the world will go for it.

At that point, we're going to really see what's coming.

And what is coming?
It's kind of "funny".
The Bible is true.
We will have a financially-controlled society of full domination.
Revelation:
"16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

This is why the thrust over the last 100+ years has been entirely toward finances, to the exclusion of virtually all else. And it is the method of control that will be used. And it will be TOTAL control.

It is as clear as daylight.
Of course I know that people scoff at this, and think it's loony, and most people will go into the system because of this, and the Bible even predicts that. It will be nearly impossible to not participate in this system. And that is by design.

You posted that you notice my "insight". Well, it's not "my insight". I read the Bible, and I have faith. I'm not a stupid person, and I have a high IQ, and I do tons of research, and the Bible is the keystone.

Now, you posted a thread a short time ago about some Satanic "numerology" in the Chilean mine disaster.
Not all numerology is related to Satan.

Here's something that is not specifically in the Bible, but is directly related to the Bible and the prophesies.
Those who have ears will hear.

According to the genealogical record since Adam, there were 4000 years until Christ. And 2000 years since.
That makes 6000 years since Adam. Regardless of anyone's thoughts on "creation" it is not a concern. The genealogical record is there for that time frame since Adam.
In the Bible, it states that "a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day". Most people don't give that a second thought. It's just words.
However, let's look at that in God's terms, okay?
He "labored for 6 days, and on the 7th day, he rested".
The Commandments say to keep the Sabbath day for it is holy. The 7th day is the Lord's day.
So, if the 7th day is the "Lord's day", and we've just passed the end of 6000 years since Adam, and "a day is like 1000 years", then we are just entering the 7th day, under those terms. The Holy Day.
This is a key marker. We are entering the time of the "Lord's day", the 7th day.
This is the only time in history, or in the future, that this could occur according to Biblical terms.
Right now.

Interesting? It gets better.

Christ was born 2000 years ago.
Given the same terms of "a thousand years is like a day", there have been 2 days passed since then. We are entering the 3rd day.
In the crucifixion, he was crucified, dead, and buried, and on the 3rd day HE ROSE AGAIN.
We are entering the beginning of the 3rd day since that time.
This is the only time in history that could occur, according to Biblical terms.
Right now.

So...
Here we have a very interesting conjunction, where we have reached a time in history which we are beginning the "thousand years is a day" equivalent of "the Lord's day", and also beginning the "thousand years is a day" equivalent of the resurrection day of Christ.

BOTH AT THE SAME TIME.
Right now.
There is no other time in history, or any time to come, that this conjunction could take place.
And we see the Satanic world order consolidating into exactly what was prophesied thousands of years ago, at precisely this time today.

If that doesn't put chills down your spine, then I don't know what else to say.
It's happening, and it's happening right NOW.

If you have any respect for me and my point of view at all, I plead with you to consider these facts. This is REAL.

The only way to receive this information is by having deep faith in God, and reading the Bible, and the understanding will be revealed to you. It will not be revealed to non-believers. They will scoff. It's intended to be that way.

This is where ALL my insight and understanding come from.
It might sound corny or crazy, but there is no way around it. The more you study and learn in both secular and Biblical ways, it only becomes more clear.
And that is why there is no way around what's coming. It's going to come as planned. No man is going to stop it.
This is way bigger than all of us.

Thanks

for sharing that. I didn't mean do drop out of the conversation like that yesterday, but I had to go do some stuff. I should have dropped a line letting you know. Sorry.

I have found that the older I get, the less I dismiss things at face value.

I grew up priding myself in saying things like "Two things I never discuss are religion and politics." I now realize that I had been conditioned to say that by older people that influenced me. It makes me wonder how that mindset got started.

Now I find, it is MOSTLY what I talk about. I try and avoid the discussions here, as they always seem to turn into a brawl.

I grew up in the Orthodox Christian Church. Church was a big part of my childhood. There has been so much perversion of religion though, that it is hard to trust most of it.

I can think of events that happened in my life that seemed like nothing other than divine intervention, and there were also times when I felt I was forsaken. It is hard to explain without getting into a lot of detail.

I admit that I do not have rock solid faith. I tend to waiver back and forth from agnostic, to believer. It is no one elses fault but my own.

I look at things like the Scofield bible, and how it had been changed to fit a particular agenda, and I look at how religion has played a role in many different conflicts throughout history, and I tend to shy away.

This conversation has gone a bit off of the path, but in the end it is about exposing the deceivers that are so influential in society today. Whether it be Michael Shermer, Pat Robertson, or whoever. It is important to have discernment.

I am definitely at a spiritual crossroads in my life, and your input is valuable to me. I know the things you shared are probably not easy to do in a public forum like this. I sincerely appreciate what you have invested in this conversation, and it won't be taken lightly.

Cool!

I don't do "religion" either.
I just do my own personal faith and study, discuss with serious friends, and seek the truth.

Certainly, "religion" has been bastardized all over the place, and it's definitely being used as a Satanic tool, and it's swerving alot of people.
That's a given.
I'm a big critic of organized religions and denominations.

But, just because alot of bastardization has been done along the way in the religious structures, doesn't mean that there's nothing of value in the basic document of the Bible.
That's where the difference comes.

The discernment of deception only comes if you know the truth.
It clearly states in the Bible that in the last days, "even the very ELECT would be deceived, if it were possible". That's how tough it's going to be.

Also,

don't be discouraged if you read the Bible and there are many things that don't seem to be important, or seem contradictory, or irrelevant to today.
This is normal. Nobody gets it all at one time.
This sounds freakish, but the word is revealed to you as you go along, by spiritual means. The words will start to jump off the page to you, with different passages, and at different times, and you begin to "get" the pieces of the puzzle. This is how it works. It can't really be described, it has to be experienced.
And that's why a skeptic that goes into it with a bad attitude, often just gets "words" and not the real meanings.

Sometimes you have to go into other historical records, or into extra-Biblical books like the Book of Enoch, and the other non-canonized references to help fill in the blanks, or to get additional info.
Every thing that is called "contradictory" or whatever, by the skeptics all has meaning that is non-contradictory when you finally get the meaning.

Even the "boring" stuff like the genealogies, sometimes called "the begats" which everybody wants to skip over, has meaning after you start getting the pieces together. It's actually an extremely important part of the book. Nothing is extraneous. It's all there for a reason.

So, don't expect to get it all at once. If you are in there for the right reasons, you'll get the clues, and it will fill-in even more for you over time. It comes alive for you. If you are in there as a skeptic, it is "flat" and lifeless.

It's a very interesting thing.

Jefferson and Big T...

thank you both for this frank, honest look at faith.
BigT, I fully agree that the organized religion and denomiations (especially as 501C3's) are a HUGE part of the problem. The non-biblical view of man's order of the worship, as opposed to God ordered, is whole topic all by it self. (if either of you have the opportunity to read either Megashift or The Open Church, by James Rutz, please do, I think his ideas would resonate with you, as they do with me).

The 501c3's are trying to replace relationship with God with religion, to the detriment of all their members.

"Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern." ~~C.S. Lewis
Love won! Deliverance from Tyranny is on the way! Col. 2:13-15

I agree

that the 501C3 churches are a dividing line.
Alot of real Christians are coming out of those churches, and forming groups among themselves.

It's a perfect "scythe" for dividing wheat from chaff, and it seems that is what it is being used for.
Everything has its purpose.

Deep,

Deep Man Deep.

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

We Will Each Reap What We Sow

… And I thank you each and all for this excellent exchange on faith and skepticism. This is why the pesky distracters are no longer quite daunting as even mere background noise while we carry on our real work.

While we are on the subject of what’s real, I’d like to share a little barely ancient text from the DP archives. I think it’s germane to many issues in this discussion and I bring it up here to underscore not just the content … but the form that your posts exemplify. What a fine maturity your dialogue demonstrates… Añejo . Each of you are, without a doubt, part of the core of this community. As a regular reader of this forum, I thank you for sharing your thoughts. --

The Solitary Reaper

Behold her, single in the field,
Yon solitary Highland Lass!
Reaping and singing by herself;
Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound.

No Nightingale did ever chaunt
More welcome notes to weary bands
Of travellers in some shady haunt,
Among Arabian sands:
A voice so thrilling ne'er was heard
In spring-time from the Cuckoo-bird,
Breaking the silence of the seas
Among the farthest Hebrides.

Will no one tell me what she sings?--
Perhaps the plaintive numbers flow
For old, unhappy, far-off things,
And battles long ago:
Or is it some more humble lay,
Familiar matter of to-day?
Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain,
That has been, and may be again?

Whate'er the theme, the Maiden sang
As if her song could have no ending;
I saw her singing at her work,
And o'er the sickle bending;--
I listened, motionless and still;
And, as I mounted up the hill,
The music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more.

-- William Wordsworth

Thanks

I didn't realize you'd posted it. I haven't been on as much lately.
I feel it is especially important to scrutinize those that put themselves at the forefront as "skeptics" or "debunkers". Same thing with "snopes" and some of these other sources that claim to be the, "be all end all" source of truth on crucial matters.

I would love to see this guy exposed and run out of town by his own cult, who mindlessly followed his every word.

I know you don't have broadband, and don't know if you've seen videos of "Shermer the worm" give presentations, but it is interesting to listen to his audience chuckle in the background when he spews his stuff. It is almost like they are chuckling to comfort themselves, and that they take pleasure in being "skeptical" of other skeptics. If that makes any sense.

As you probably know, the word "skeptic" comes from the Greek root meaning of "One who thinks". I would hardly qualify these clowns as "thinkers".

I'd sure like to know where the funding of "skeptic" magazine, and website comes from. This guy need to be exposed, big time.
