WikiLeaks defends Iraq files as exposing 'truth'
Submitted by meekandmild on Sat, 10/23/2010 - 13:31LONDON (AFP) – WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on Saturday defended the unauthorised release of 400,000 classified US military documents on the war in Iraq, saying they revealed the "truth" about the conflict.
The mass of documents from 2004 to 2009 offer a grim snapshot of the conflict, especially of the abuse of Iraqi civilians by Iraqi security forces.

I thought he was wanted.

I can agree with Julian Assange
He told the interviewer that if she kept on asking about his personal affairs (probably a set up by the USA) he would walk, she persisted, he walked.
LL this should have its own thread.

what a collossal crock-o-shit
"On Iran's role in the conflict, the files show Tehran waging a shadow war with US troops in Iraq and Tehran allegedly using militias to kill and kidnap American soldiers."
"The documents describe Iran arming and training Iraqi hit squads to carry out attacks on coalition troops and Iraqi government officials, with the elite Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps suspected of playing a crucial role, The New York Times newspaper and The Guardian reported. "
Iranian training "hit squads" waging "shadow war" ??
Assange calls it "truth" ?
you heard it.
Well... we do have the CIA
Well... we do have the CIA doing the same thing against Iran.
I think its plausible that Iran is doing it, but I wouldn't use it as a reason to go to war with Iran. They haven't done anything overtly to threaten the country with harm.
seriously?
Iran "training" a "hit squad" to kill? what the heck would Iran be hoping to accomplish with that ridiculous tactic?
Do you imagine THIS is Iran's method of tipping the scales in their favor? BY TRAINING A HIT SQUAD??
Reminds me of a James Cameron movie, Strange Days (1995), and Max has to come up with a conspiracy theory to convince his friend Lenny not to go to the police with evidence. He makes up some exuberant story about how there are secret LAPD "Death Squads" running around.
Script:
MAX
I thought that riff about the Death
Squad was pretty good. I hadda keep
you from bringing the cops into it.
LENNY
So there never was a death squad?
MAX
Naawww.
LENNY
Just those two loose-cannon cops
running around covering their butts.
