Any good alternative dental books, sites, HELP? Updated

Old amalgam filling fell out, got replaced with resin. The resin one hurt, all the time, never got better, they did a root canal. The whole tooth split in half and had to be removed a few months ago. Now I think I have a tooth trying to grow in, but it is growing in sideways under a good tooth. Now, I have just told you my dental adventures with just this ONE tooth, but they have just made a mess of my mouth and I DON'T want to go back to a dentist, but I don't know of any alternatives. Anybody?

UPDATE: THANK YOU!! Such good help, you guys are awesome! I spoke with the very kind and generous who replied below, and he has given me the direction I need. I do not say this to slow the discussion, some great info is getting posted here! But I want to let you know that I got the help I needed - THANK YOU ALL!!! And, also to say, the DP rocks!

UPDATE:
Went to the dentist today. There were 2 small fragments of bone or tooth, one had already worked its way out, the other has stopped hurting. The "tooth" I though was emerging was the bony structure that once held the tooth that was removed in place. Chewing action has pushed it down and back, and now the ridge that once pointed at the roof of my mouth is pointed at my cheek, but it no longer hurts either.

My advice

As a part-time dental assistant:

Listen to the common advice, it really works!

0. Go to a GOOD dentist with modern equipment and techniques such as diode lasers for detection of small decay, and also water lasers as an alternative to the high-speed drill.
1. Brush and FLOSS regularly, especially flossing!
2. get small preventative care, it is cheaper than waiting until half of your tooth is rotten.
3. Stop drinking acid and eating so much sugar (*cough*, soda, *cough*)
4. use some fluoride.

5. Overall, just be prudent and preventitive. Beleive me, it is a lot cheaper and easier.

Special thanks again to Tony!

The reassurance that allowed me to wait until I could afford to get it checked was truly a blessing, and there is no sign of any type of infection at all, so you were spot on.
THANK YOU!!!

If you've had inflamatory pain, you know pain.

I'm glad that you didn't wait till the side of your face was swelled in pain. Thanks for your post and openness fishy, dental problems are on the rise in young folks these days, and they'd better heed the proper diet and hygiene.
So, a tooth fragment, eh?
I know what you mean ... been there, done that.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

My dentist's first responce . . .

How about one molar growing sideways under two molars in the back which where "blocking the dormant tooth beneath gum level. The loss of the one tooth is allowing the "slanting" molar to have movement.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

That is what I think it is

It seems to me to be that the extraction triggered the growth of a long dormant tooth. I have a call in to the dentist who pulled it. There may also be a chip or two working their way out, but the one thing really feels like a tooth trying to emerge, and NOT anywhere that I really want a tooth.

Sorry fishy, this is a little aside on the topic of homeopathy

as a result of a botched dentistry experience I had.

If anyone is planning on having their amalgams removed please, please go to a thorough, freethinking dentist who 'recognizes' that amalgams are a dangerous biotoxin viz a viz mercury!!!

I say this because I would still be suffering from IBS if I didn't know what happened to me.

About 6 years ago I had a filling removed when I discovered I could have it replaced with resin. So I did.

The dentist had a very laissez faire attitude about these damn fillings and never used prophylactic protection when he drilled the toxic crap out of my tooth. Long story short.

Next day I am keeling over in absolute pain and terror in my gut and I get a pretty high fever. Took me two days to get over the fever and I was left with IBS.

Didn't even make the connection until three months later, while still suffering with IBS, a friend told me twice to go to her homeopathic doctor in Stillwater. I did right away.

He spent over 2 hours asking me many minute and thorough questions. After all is said and done he concluded that I had 'mercury poisoning' by all the symptoms I was experiencing and asked me if I had gone to a dentist recently? Duh. I felt dumb but relieved. He gave me his own concoction of about 5 or 6 little bottles of his pills to take several times a day.

The IBS went away within the week but he told me to continue to take the rest of the pills for another two weeks just to make sure. To this day I am deeply grateful for homeopathy.

For those living in Twin Cities area, his name is Arvind Auluck-Wilson. He is a third generation homeopath from Bengal India and a real angel.

Dental decay is a "systemic

Dental decay is a "systemic disease". In rats, a good laboratory example of the same mechanisms that humans use for decay production, Steinman found that he could alter the diet and alter the amount of decay in a perfect parallel. He could feed the diet as food they ate, or feed the rats through a stomach tube so that food never touched their teeth. Results were the same either way. What they ingested controlled the amount of decay they generated.
What happens is that a tooth is a living structure? It needs nutrient supplied on a daily basis just like any other tissue in the body in order to maintain good, decay-free health. Using radioactive acriflavine hydrochloride, Steinman made injections into the rats and was able to trace the radioactive substance from the injection site, into the blood stream, into the pulp canal of the tooth, through the dentinal tubules (little tiny garden hoses that are 3 1/2 microns in diameter that comprise the solid substance of the dentin), through the enamel rods (tiny tubes in the enamel), clear out into the mouth in a period of approximately one hour.
This trip took place in healthy rats that maintained relative freedom from decay. When fed a decay producing diet, the fluid flow reversed. Fluids flowed from the surface of the tooth, through the enamel (bringing bacteria and debris along with it), through the dentin, and into the pulp chamber. These rats experienced lots of decay. This flow could be turned one way or the other just by altering the diet

also it is important the results this doctor had preventing gum disease with waterpick, but here, the invisible toothbrush article from the westonprice:

One such study13 reported a resolution of materia alba, calculus and stain when 500 mg of ascorbic acid was daily administered for 90 days to 35 mentally retarded boys.
(buy keep in mind ascorbic acid is not vit C,it is just one part of it, so you would like to read about it also)

this link bellow from B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Virginia in 2002, and a Ph.D. in neurobiology from the University of Washington in 2009
explain more in detail how to reverse dental decay with diet researching what weston price and other dentist saw before.
http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2009/03/reversing-toot...

he explains that are different types of K2, and the most used in the body is the mk4, but the most found in supp are the mk7, so be sure you read all well before wasting money.
if you have already mercury filling you may want to replace them with something healthier and you can find recommendation for that in the page of the doctor from south africa.
in resume, all metal oxidized and are harmfull for your body, so you dont want metal in your mouth, look for metal free fillings like diamondlite, diamondcrown.
steel have nickel causing cancer.
2 or more different metal in the mouth cause a galvanic current.
if you have extracted tooth before check for cavitations if they were not extracted following the hugging protocols for cavitations.http://livingnetwork.co.za/dentalnetwork/cavitations/cavitation-extraction-protocol/
root canal treatment are very disturbing for your health also.
if you need partial denture or dentures is better the metal free ones, like flexite, but ask for clear, because pink colored have mercury or cadmiun.

Beyond any doubt, health in perfect parallel with diet.

Like clockwork, I can eat cooked meals and never get past three of them wherein I become "overridden, unbalanced and in a state of discomfort". So, I am at least a 50% rawfooder because simply, it's better in the long run, and let fasting and "uncooked foods" become my "re-boot to health".

To just get ya by regarding

To just get ya by regarding the pain ... yes, whole cloves but clove oil or clove extract really works! I bought some at GNC for about $5.00. If you can't find clove oil try Brandy! Hold a mouth full till ya can't any longer and then spit it out or if you're home relaxing just swallow it!

Warm salt water helps, too.

This is just temporary pain help but it'll get ya through till you can get to a dentist. A recent dental nightmare where the dentist did nothing to help me with the pain I was having but to tell me to see an oral surgeon.

Oh, it was a broken off piece from a dental instrument left in my jaw at the bottom of the root that was broken through during the root canal and/or a piece of amalgam filling that was left from whenever stuck in my gum and one or both was causing the horrific electrical like debilitating pains that shot through the lower jaw to the top ... ugh, well, I surely hope you find a good dentist.

I just saw your post and I am

I just saw your post and I am a dentist in NY. Without seeing the case, I can't say exactly what needs to be done. However, I am a Ron Paul supporter and anything I can do to help you in getting an opinion or second opinion I am willing to help with. I have no profit motive in helping you. Thank you!

Here are some books:

It's All In Your Head - by Dr. Hal A. Huggins
"Learn about the many symptoms, allergies, and other conditions caused by mercury fillings, and how to avoid other sources of mercury in the environment, as well as how to correctly remove the offending fillings. A must for anyone suffering from unexplained neurological, allergic and immunological problems.

Dentist Huggins has led the fight to alert the public and health professionals to the dangers of using mercury in the amalgams used to fill teeth. Here he describes his battle with the American Dental Association and the results of his research studies. After explaining mercury toxicity, he describes such conditions as neurological and immunological diseases that can result from this toxicity. His discussion also includes the diagnosis of mercury toxicity and the pros and cons of having mercury amalgam fillings removed."

Root Canal Cover-Up - by George E. Meinig D.D.S., F.A.C.D.
"Bacteria Trapped inside the structure of teeth migrate throughout the body. They may infect any organ, gland or tissue and can damage the heart, kidneys, joints, eyes, brain and endanger pregnant women. Learn how these infections were discovered by a 25 year Root Canal Research Program which was carried out my the American Dental Association, and was subsequently covered-up."

Assuming you don't have any allergies to bee products, you may want to do some research about bee propolis and oral health.

My Dad

is a Dentist. Yo need to go in and get this handled. A large percentage of people in the past died from Dental Problems. Your mouth effects everything in your body. A bad tooth can sbsess and get infected, then goes to your brain and you die. Man up and get it fixed!

"Man up?' Really?

First, I am a woman. Second, what makes you think I am afraid of the dentist? I went to them faithfully, they first put mercury in my mouth, then put a resin that caused me excruciating pain, and then did a surgical procedure that cost me a grand and bought me 2 more years before the tooth cracked and had to be pulled. I will go back to them if I must, but I would go a blacksmith first, if I could find one. Is that "man" enough for you?

Did not mean to offend you

But you are going to the wrong people. My Dad teaches up at OHSU in Oregon....You can always go there and it is about 1/2 the price to get things done. Again...I was just concerned due to the fact that your mouth is not anything to mess with. Growing up in a Dental household I have witnessed myself how bad a decaying mouth can affect your life. Again...take no offense....just trying to help.

Thanks. People with tooth issues can be cranky... lol!

I am really not trying to avoid dentists so much as I am trying to get off the merry go round that brought me here.

I understand that!

I didn't have as severe problems with a tooth as you are having, but have had similarily frustrating merry-go-round rides from the conventional medicine practitioners. I wish you the best, hope our friend is able to find a holistic dentist near you.

Fishy...did you try an endodontist?

They have a machine that will show them what is going on under the gum line. I had to find a new dentist, there are many bad ones out there. My new dentist (that I'm very happy with) sent me to the endodontist when I had a problem. I prefer natural treatments too, but I know after a bad experiece that you can get very sick from tooth ailments.

I'm a Blacksmith?

But hot iron does not hit back!Sorry I can't help I fear I may be the one in pain when done!LOL!

If I disappear from a discussion please forgive me. My 24-7 business requires me to split mid-sentence to serve them. I am not ducking out, I will be back later to catch up.

lol!

Do you at least do leaches, then?

Aw, Leeching !

I am sure my ancestors did that,We have real doctors to do that now.It is currently used to bring blood into damaged extremities that have bad circulation. We blacksmiths had it figured out years ago.

Yes, I got an infection from a wisdom tooth that was pulled

and got very sick. The doctor told me it causes infections in the blood and that I was lucky that I went to her when I did. The dentist that I went to didn't even notice the infection.

I've never tried any of these, but there are several tooth entries. Maybe they'll help you out until you get to the dentist.

Your pain may be coming from a tooth fragement after root canal

I got introduced to my current holistic dentist while attending a "rawfood" pot luck gathering one afternoon. Educated at USC Dental School, he graduated in the top of his class, and was always the highest scoring, and in the catagory "dexdertiy, use of hands, he was number one in his class all the years of his attendance.
As time went on, he questioned the "need" for some applications, and though at risk of disdain and license complications, he backed away from traditional modern dentistry, and became an excellent holistic dentist and does not use x-rays or drugs. He specializes in preventative maintenance, and has proof that 90% of his children patients did not ever get a cavity. He is so successful that the only way you get an appointment is through word of mouth. I admire him very much, a true front line courage to question the status quo. And his rates are lower than traditional dentist, and he gives to all his patients free bags of oranges, grapefruit and avocados from his organic orchards.
I grew up with an over-bite which prematurely wore down my teeth. And recently, one needed attention. I just had a root canal completed last week and you must believe me, it was entirely painless, like a pin prick. He told me that even one of the instructors at USC told him that root canals do not require numbing.

He stated that a tooth allows gases to exit thru the microscope porousness of the tooth. Therefore, he uses filling material that "breathes".

As to your "new" tooth coming in theory . . . well, I didn't think adults can grow new teeth; natural tooth "repairing" occurs, but not a whole new tooth. I am suspecting what happened to me many years ago in Tijuana, Mexico.
After a molar finally decayed away (I removed it myself over three days with ice packs) but pieces remained that I did not see. One of these pieces was near the gum line, and like in your case, felt as if it was on one side and digging. (just a sliver of tooth). For this, I went to a "county" dentist and he "fished" around for particle, and even had to put a few stitches in the gum line as he had to cut into it.
It worked! Pain gone.

To reduce inflamation, do the thing to get the power . . . fasting and rawfoods. In your case, soft raw foods, because tooth movements cause pain. I find cannabis to work the best, and Tylenol a distant second because it dulls the healing mechanisms, where Cannabis just "dulls" the pain by allowing the bodies own "numbing" devices to activate. With the combination of a raw food low inflametory diet, there is almost a "climatic pressure", "sensual" so to speak, that the pain was disguised as felt good, "good kind of pain."

I am not speaking for my holistic dentist, but having this same discussion with him recently, he advocated that an advanced problem will need surgery, and even he uses novacane in this application in serioius cases.
He was able to "save" my tooth in question by performing a root canal instead of pulling it.

I suggest this: go to a county "tooth pulling" clinic that you feel is safe, and in most parts of the country, these "life-saving" surgeries can be provided for free, or here in California, a $200 fee for walk-ins, no questions asked.
Here's another angle; while I don't want a tooth implant, they offer programs for free in order to train interns. Go there for an "qualification check up, you know like if you have enough gum and bone mass to perform implants, and they will find your problem, let you know what it is, and extract it in preparation for the implant proceedure . . . but you were just there to see if you "qualify" for the "free" implant program.
(I feel implants are last resort, bridges, partials safer)

In passing, tooth pain is the worst and that is caused by inflamation. But sooner or later, you will have to address the cause.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

There is not just one spot

There are two points, like what should be 2 of the 4 "root" ends in one spot, then a bump that has developed ridges over a period of a couple weeks emerging under the next tooth back.
The thing I know about things I never heard of medically just means that they are rare, not impossible. Did you know that you can have surgery on one eye, and have it get infected, and the infection can spread to the eye that was never cut on? Do you think your eye surgeon tells you about this incredibly rare possibility? No, he covers it with a blanket "blindness or death are possible" that everyone assumes is just CYA language. Not so much...
