Look who's behind the Full Body Scanners

I stumbled on this. The quickness withwhich the scanners were adopted and implemented always seemed strange to me...especially since it usually takes months for the federal government to spec equipment, then put it out for bid.

Not when it's Obama's buddy:

It is a Bush, Chertoff deal way before Obama was even presdident.
But that is not nearly as fun or scary as saying Obama...now adays..

Chertoff’s advocacy for the technology dates back to his time in the Bush administration. In 2005, Homeland Security ordered the government’s first batch of the scanners — five from California-based Rapiscan Systems.

Today, 40 body scanners are in use at 19 U.S. airports. The number is expected to skyrocket at least in part because of the Christmas Day incident. The Transportation Security Administration this week said it will order 300 more machines.

In the summer, TSA purchased 150 machines from Rapiscan with $25 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. Rapiscan was the only company that qualified for the contract because it had developed technology that performs the screening using a less-graphic body imaging system, which is also less controversial. (Since then, another company, L-3 Communications, has qualified for future contracts, but no new contracts have been awarded.)

"Rapiscan Systems"

As in 'systemic rape'. At least they are honest.

I think they are setting Obama up as a patsy for alot of things.

Rapiscan?? It's called RAPE-i-scan???

Unbelievable! Swallow THAT America, we put RAPE-iscans on you!

I once read that the Crotch-Bomber was allowed onto the plane...

... I think it was a New York Times article stating that the FBI allowed him onto the aircraft knowing he was involved with some shady people. They said they were following him and did nothing to stop him from boarding because "they were trying to get to his ring leaders".

And I also remember attorney Kurt Haskell and his wife claiming that the bomber had a handler and the airline gate and was trying to board without proper papers. Later to find the handler filming the Crotch-Bomber and the attempted attack.

I'm trying to find the article from the NYT.

Yes, and I read that the

Yes, and I read that the Amsterdam airport he flew out of, Schipol, had the Rape scanners installed. So if he were properly processed, it should have detected his undies right? If not, how are these machines any protection and why should they be deployed everywhere?

The whole thing was a set-up.

The "undie bomber" is the son of Nigeria's Central Bank.
The "well dressed man" got him on the plane with no passport. Nobody gets on a plane with no passport, unless somebody WANTS him on that plane for a reason.

It stunk to high heaven of a "work" from the beginning.

Who is to gain?

I vividly recall Michael Chernoff's appearance on CNN with Larry King live right after the Christmas Day underwear bomber "incident". Larry King, when introducing Chernoff made the "disclosure statement" that Michael Chernoff was a major investor and executive in the company producing and selling the airport body scanners. How convenient! There was a report just a few days ago that the X-ray machines operating in the airports would not even detect the explosives supposedly carried by the Christmas Day bomber.

"Nothing is as it appears; everything is smoke and mirrors"

I think Chertoff is the one you want

WASHINGTON - Since the attempted bombing of a US airliner on Christmas Day, former Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff has given dozens of media interviews touting the need for the federal government to buy more full-body scanners for airports.

What he has made little mention of is that the Chertoff Group, his security consulting agency, includes a client that manufactures the machines. Chertoff disclosed the relationship on a CNN program Wednesday, in response to a question.

An airport passengers’ rights group on Thursday criticized Chertoff’s use of his former government credentials to advocate for a product that benefits his clients.

It's all on the up & up?

you insinuate that pr0nscanner CEO is NOT an O-buddy?

Rapiscan is one of the two companies that makes the nudie-scanners at airports for the TSA. Rapiscan CEO Deepak Chopra (who has the same name as the more famous Deepak Chopra, M.D.) recently was tapped by Obama to accompany the administration on Obama’s trip to India.
