Global food supply is dwindling rapidly, UN agency warns

ROME: In an "unforeseen and unprecedented" shift, the world food supply is dwindling rapidly and food prices are soaring to historic levels, the top food and agriculture official of the United Nations warned Monday.

The changes created "a very serious risk that fewer people will be able to get food," particularly in the developing world, said Jacques Diouf, head of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization.

The agency's food price index rose by more than 40 percent this year, compared with 9 percent the year before - a rate that was already unacceptable, he said. New figures show that the total cost of foodstuffs imported by the neediest countries rose 25 percent, to $107 million, in the last year...

Relax, its the UN

Please take everything from the United Nations with a HUGE Grain of salt. The United Nations gives other countries money to depopulate. They are on a mission to make it seem like the world is at a breaking point - between global warming, food shortages, etc. Its their mandate, to lower the population.

The Rockefellers are a large contributor to the United Nations. Its Globalism.

Its everything Ron Paul is fighting against - all this globalist disinformation. There is more than enough to go around. For crying out loud we are trying to subsidize corn farmers to fuel our cars... that food can go to people first. Cars can run on water, but heaven forbid anyone let that cat out of the bag.

The world is 70% ocean? surely we can figure out how to take the salt out to drink it.

The more you read about the UN, the more unhappy you will become. Go Ron Paul.

Regardless of what IS

Regardless of what IS achievable and what the earth IS capable of yielding in terms of food, we would all do well to heed these warnings.

Whether or not such high-level "sustainable development" agendas really exist, we must all acknowledge that many of our nation's own laws have set the wheels in motion that will INDEED cause food and energy prices to continue to rise, which will put even more strain on the middle class and the poor.

Governments, like the individuals that comprise them, do not like to admit mistakes. So the blame for the problems they (government) create is often placed on scapegoats (i.e. global warming). And so until such laws are repealed, we can only assume that the trend in government will be towards more short-sighted bureacracy and band-aid fixes which will only serve to magnify these problems.

Do NOT ignore these types of reports. In fact, you should be thankful that they are made public for your consumption. I wonder how many people take the time to read articles like these...probably less than 500 million...

One more scare tactic..

If it's not eco-terrorism, or otherwise, it's another thing. Just more scare tactics from the UN to make you comply with their wishes....don't ignore them, they are dangerous. Fight them and work to get us out.
