Help Wikileaks. Download their History Insurance File.

Update: A working link to the newly released US embassy files. http://cablegate.wikileaks.org/

A tweet from wikileaks: (http://twitter.com/wikileaks)

Now is a good time to download some "history insurance" https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5723136/WikiLeaks_insurance 5:04 PM Nov 25th via web

You can help wikileaks by downloading their insurance file. Wikileaks distributed this file as "insurance" of some kind. Noone, despite claims to the contrary, knows precisely what is inside it (aside from the makers). Note the file is unreadable unless you happen to work for the NSA or are a super mega guru hacker. The reason to download this file is in case wikileaks is taken down that this highly sensitive information is not lost to history. As long as one file remains the truth is safe.

If you are not familiar with torrents then you should download a torrent tracker application first to get to the file, www.utorrent.com for example.

The file, "insurance.aes256," is ten times the size of the seven other files combined. Appears to be encrypted with AES Crypt [www dot aescrypt dot com]. The file might include the 15,000 Afghan files withheld, or the original raw files, or perhaps much more, pre-positioned for public release ("insurance") against an attack expected to come from DoD and Justice or parties unknown. A passphrase to be distributed or published widely in case of a takedown.

Authenticity check on the file, in case you care about these things-

The file is encrypted and

The file is encrypted and cannot be opened, you have to have the key. The key is not released and wont be released until the SHTF. If you want to help wikileaks and unsure that this information is not lost to history download it and put it on a flash memory disk.

Sounds like bad news to me.

I wouldn't download that thing. Either I end up on a list I don't want to be on, or I have some sort of trojan implanted in my system.

No way buddy.

Why not just post the docs decrypted for anyone to save as they see fit?

People could use SiteSucker or HTTrack or some other mirroring software to copy the site whole or just what they want and/or don't already have.

Why leave it decrypted?

Nope, this stinks. I'd stay far away.

It hasn't been decrypted

No one has been able to unlock it as far as anyone knows at this point. If it does get unlocked, MSM will publish stuff from it as they have for this latest episode. MSM never got in trouble, otherwise they wouldn't publish any of it. Why? I don't know.

Peerblock works

blocks unwanted IPs - just updated too

right

I don't care who makes what. Download it and you're on a list you don't want to be on. You think something will hide your download of a national security threat? I would not feel safe downloading that, maybe if I was living outside of the country, maybe.

How come nobody in the press is arrested?

I would assume that every member in the media who recieved, viewed, published, distributed the wikileaks documents are in big trouble and put on watchlists, etc.

They are tightly controlled

They are tightly controlled and the ones that are not are being watched very closely. Is the msm actually covering the leaks or the process of leaking?

northstar's picture

Doesn't matter

The MSM is participating in the release of wikileaks documents and should be treated as terrorists IMO. What gets me mad is the MSM is immune to releasing these documents. I have'nt seen any of them arrested. Anyhow, millions of people probably download that big fat file and for all we know, it just might be full of every copy of Alex Jones' movies. It's probably not that, too small of a file.

Why should they be treated as terrorists for publishing

diplomatic cables?

How does that constitute an act of terror?

Okay, I haven't really gotten

Okay, I haven't really gotten a straight answer about this. I downloaded the 1.2 GB file. How would I look at what's in it? I've heard everything from you need a password to you need a decryption program. If that is that case, I don't know if I want 1.2GB of something I can't even open ever on my computer.

If wikileaks ever did release the file, wouldn't it spread around the world like wildfire anyways?

northstar's picture

Just hang onto it

When the time is right, they'll release the keys. Apparently, no one has been able to crack it open yet.

Is this why all of the file-sharing sites were busted

over the weekend? Timing seems convenient.

You're asking for trouble if you do this

And it's a set-up to-boot.

Yep. Although, I hope there

Yep. Although, I hope there are some people out there looking for trouble.

There are ways you can

There are ways you can proceed cautiously. I recommend at least an IP blocker that blocks known government websites. Perhaps Peer Guardian. Using Tor couldn't hurt either.

Although the program

Although the program technically "works" peer guardian hasn't worked in a long time.

Thanks for the guidance, Hubris

.

Bump for those who know how to do this!?

I think this may be the most important turning point in history. Please help. I'm computer ignorant but many of you are not!
