For many baby-boomers whose formative years coincided with the Swinging Sixties, a mild Monday in early December 1980 will always be remembered as the day the music died.
In New York, the enigmatic, charismatic - and frankly often loony - ex-Beatle John Lennon staggered into the entrance hall of the Dakota, the exclusive parkside mansion block that had been his home for nearly eight years.
The cassettes of a new song the 40-year-old had just recorded, called Walking On Thin Ice, clattered to the floor as he collapsed - blood flowing from four gunshot wounds.

07/20/01 Congressman Joe Scarborough office worker found dead in office the morning after.
10/16/01 Congressman Joe Scargorough resigns to spend more time with family kids.
10/25/02 Paul Wellstone dies with family in strange airplane crash when he was ahead in polls to win senate seat under Bush Administration. Possible two previous attempts on his life.
12/19/08 Michael Connell died in airplane crash before he was to testify about his involvement in rigging Bush's 2000 and 2004 elections.

The attempted assasination of George Wallace. The Gov. of Alabama who split the Democratic party to run for president in 1972 as an independent. He wasnt killed but lived in a wheelchair the rest of his life . He was very popular back then and might have even won.

I always thought it interesting that Lennon's music
and peace message crossed so many bridges. His story of personal sorrow touched many. If they killed him, and right now I'll take no position, it was because given the plans they had for the world, he was a dangerous uniter. Lennnon was the only man who would be listened to by hippies and Hell's Angel bikers alike. Lennon hurt no one, as was loved by all. That means he had to go.

article doesn't mention
chapman staying in a hotel nights before repeatedly screaming out the window "CATCHER IN THE RYE, JOHN LENNON MUST DIE." or "PHONY MUST DIE," or something similar.
a police report was written about it, after somebody within earshot called the cops to the hotel.
