Officials: CIA promised $5M in legal fees for psychologists who waterboarded detainees

The CIA agreed to cover at least $5 million in legal fees for two contractors who were the architects of the agency's interrogation program and personally conducted dozens of waterboarding sessions on terror detainees, former U.S. officials said.

The secret agreement means taxpayers are paying to defend the men in a federal investigation over an interrogation tactic the U.S. now says is torture. The deal is even more generous than the protections the agency typically provides its own officers, giving the two men access to more money to finance their defense.

It has long been known that psychologists Jim Mitchell and Bruce Jessen created the CIA's interrogation program. But former U.S. intelligence officials said Mitchell and Jessen also repeatedly subjected terror suspects inside CIA-run secret prisons to waterboarding, a simulated drowning tactic.

Whatever remaining trust I had in the medical profession

just went out the window.

ETHICS MY AZZ.

This from one who would have been fertilizer years ago if I'd listened to them.

South is the new way up! Major trend for 2014: Latin America. Start checking out South American investment, it's part of our future now.

CIA waterboarding legal fees.

I love the random article button...

Potential Annualized National Debt Allowance - a look at 40 years of PANDA diplomacy next Pandaline

How about we just hang them now and save the money.

It is a crime. What's to prove in court that needs fees?

Free includes debt-free!

Yeah, i know..I think someone

Yeah, i know..I think someone has to make a criminal complaint.

geesh, only if we all could wear the cloak of DickHead Cheney

robe, whenever we're feeling 'righteous.'

but alas, that little pesky thing called conscience, it's such a biatch sometimes...

it really is much too hard being one of the 'good guys,' sometimes. just sometimes.)

Let us find a group of

Let us find a group of lawyers who really care about our Constitution and begin indicting all these criminals who are against our Constitution!

Dr.Vieira,

Judge Nap, 2ndAmd Atty.Stephen Halbrooke come to mind. though, not sure what their fee structure is; I imagine pretty high.

wonder if Glenn Greenwald on the 'Left,' a fan of Bill of Rights, apparently all except 2nd and lukewarm on 10th Amnd, could be another. But since he's not practicing anymore, not sure if he kept his Bar Shy, *cough* I mean 'license' fees up to date.

Jonathan Turley, I believe is still practicing.

Then there are the likes of Rutherford Inst, Goldwater Inst., and most recently Atty. Joe Becker, the former RP 2008 Campaign General Counsel (http://dailypaul.com/node/152133) and his new project seems absolutely promising.

I'm not sure if the RulingClass' plan is to simply overwhelm us with so much criminality that the People will be distracted and perplexed as to which one to tackle first.

I for one commend the Doc's doggedness, and practical approach in focusing on the One thing that affects everyone eventually, the mechanism of the NWO's enslavement: fiat monetary system.

I think as 2011 commences, we need a far more specific focus on dooming the Fed.Reserve than ever before; obviously not to say all other issues are less or not as equally of import. but, the FED.Res. issue is something that we really see still growing signs of public momentum on as well.
Plus, it doesn't hurt to have them become the symbol of Wall St. manipulation of Gvt, aka, the "Monster to slay" in terms of psychological paradigm.

besides, if hyperinflation comes, they won't have a choice but to deal with it anyway.

in an ideal world, after a thorough due process, we should only reserve the death penalty to public officials whom violate their oath, or even commit a "conspiracy to violate," but never against the citizenry; the State has proven time and time again that they could care less about murdering or condemning to death completely innocent citizens. worse, arrogant enough to deny new DNA tests to prove the wrongly imprisoned citizen's innocence, as it'd be 'too much of a bother,' as well as to destroy the myth of the Statists' non-existent 'infallibility.'

A Statist construct that has such little respect for life, does not deserve any powers to take away, other than that of their own. the unfortunate reality is no one 'fears' anything unless their physical life, or their ability to make a living is threatened; since most lawmakers regularly merely get a slap on the wrist for their crimes, the latter option is practically moot.

and, since the Statist lackeys have displayed all too much glee in condemning innocent citizenry to private prison hellholes for pre-crime of "conspiracy to commit," it's high time they face similar penalties for even merely attempting to curtail any portion of Constitution and the Bill of Rights. no?

Imagine if the Coinage Act of 1792's original penalty remained intact, for all violations by Public Servants. now, that would be something, no?

I can think of no bigger treasonous behavior than those like Lieberman or Peter King calling to murder Assange, a non-American citizen for merely exercising a Constitutional Right of 1st Amendment; what those two zionist monkeys are calling for will ensnare any Americans in the future for merely embarrassing DC assh*les by publishing exposes, thus it's irrelevant whether Assange is a citizen, or not. not to mention, oBUSHma's American Citizen Assassination program, torture, renditions, and on, and on, and on...

I understand that strictly Constitutionally speaking, "Treason" is defined as "high crimes and misdemeanors," as in, it's a political crime. but, if the actions of DC mooks in the last 100yrs don't qualify as that, I don't know what would.

To that end, I almost wish, that portion of the Constitution were worded to specify violation of Oath, and conspiracy to violate the Constitution as "Treason." That alone would clean house in DC, in an instant, no?

lol.

alas... a wishful thinking.)

Great explanation...

Keep your eye on the ball and the pyramid topples.

The "All-Seeing Eye" Pyramid which runs the Zionist/Neocon/Imperial conspiracy relies on one central tenant to survive & enslave......fiat.

Death by a thousand cuts is how they roll, death by fiat. When there is no more Federal Reserve, the New World Order is so incredibly weakened.....they can now be dealt with.

should be shocking...

but what is anymore, these days, eh?

Seriously sad, and correct.

I watched the thread title roll by a time or two before I could muster enough "give a damn about MORE CIA crimes" to click.

Once you realize something like the Franklin scandal was never stopped, but just allowed to carry on, yeah - nothing much shocks you any more.

This is the article that got my posting privileges revoked:

I hear ya,

"I watched the thread title roll by a time or two before I could muster enough "give a damn about MORE CIA crimes" to click" - so true.

I have my own personal quota, and limit to just how many seemingly incessant, never ending pandemic parade of daily Rodney King-type copthuggery videos I can tolerate, without having the primal nature sorta overtake me, on a daily basis.

all those videos and news would seem rather vicarious, however, for those of us whom are well awake, we cannot tolerate it precisely because deep down, the simple truth of the matter is that if it can happen to that fellow citizen in the video, it can happen to any of us. And thus, poses an existential threat to every one of us.

fishy, all that to me, just tells me that you, and the rest of us are here are still the sane ones, in an insane world.

I'd say cheers to that!
