news of the ubiquitous policestate machinery that is fast enveloping us daily, the only thing that comes to my mind is, 'what will convince the citizenry to fully harness their 2nd Amendment rights, and have the Republic move to ban and eliminate all 'law enforcement' capacity altogether, aside from genuine detectives, CSI(preferably independent private labs, though will perhaps always be a corporatist model, as any lab that deals with homicide, rape, etc. evidence, their core customers will always be some kind of a police combine), crime scene security, and genuine HRT(not SWAT)??'

whenever I hear news like this:

$2tn debt crisis threatens to bring down 100 US cities

Overdrawn American cities could face financial collapse in 2011, defaulting on hundreds of billions of dollars of borrowings and derailing the US economic recovery. Nor are European cities safe – Florence, Barcelona, Madrid, Venice: all are in trouble

More than 100 American cities could go bust next year as the debt crisis that has taken down banks and countries threatens next to spark a municipal meltdown, a leading analyst has warned.

Meredith Whitney, the US research analyst who correctly predicted the global credit crunch, described local and state debt as the biggest problem facing the US economy, and one that could derail its recovery.

"Next to housing this is the single most important issue in the US and certainly the biggest threat to the US economy," Whitney told the CBS 60 Minutes programme on Sunday night...

my initial response is one of joy; I tell myself 'finally, perhaps, the populace will be 'forced' to face and truly figure out for once, what exactly should the role of gvt ought to be?'

but, of course, I do not look forward to the prospect of civil unrest that's sure to follow, or a majority of the sheeple populace ill-informed, uninformed, and deliberately misinformed on the nature and the origin of the financial crises that put them on path, up in arms asking for, demanding, and protesting against 'austerity,' when they should be doing the opposite, and focus their contempt against Wall st. and any CONgressmen/women and their corporatist overlords that have brought us to this juncture in history.

not, ask the same scums that have failed us repeatedly for more things, or to grant them more powers to enslave and rule over us!

as always, unless the citizenry convinces itself to harness a more realistic, enlightened philosophy about the role of govt, this the prospect of 100 cities going bankrupt, forcing vast cuts across all 'services' being provided at taxpayers expense, is not likely to have the outcome that I, nor what many here may want to see: a non-statist, more Constitutional, truly limited governmental construct.

but, now more than ever, is the best time to mull the close down, and outright abandonment of all policethug departments, all across America, and consider the more sane, liberty/freedom-oriented alternative, IMO.

We have Militias for a reason....

...Because Police Forces are NOT in the Constitution.

Nor were many of the 6000+ cops who have been shot and/or killed in the violent years since 2008.

fireant's picture

Public Private Partnership = Fascism

Repubs, "conservatives", and most T-baggers think PPP is a great thing. They don't have a clue. They are bribed by what appears to be economic expediency, and in so doing, they facilitate a non-republic form of government.

Undo what Wilson did

Well they can cut down cop patrols and hours, then.

As long as they are paid or rewarded, that's snitching.

Free includes debt-free!

Who completes the course will receive a red cape and a large W they can velcro onto their chests.

Statist thugs needing a new schtick....

I guess that means we'll have to break it down.
