I'm glad she stood up for herself--
I'm sorry to see this happening--
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
Collateral Damage
She should just consider herself collateral damage in the war on terror. After all, she probably voted for either McCain or Obama and welcomed the additional safety brought to her by the police state.
It's inevitable that such random incidents invoving patriotic citizens like her will continue, but since they serve the interests of national security, victims such as she ought to be proud of their sacrifices for their nation.
Perhaps the congress could create a civilian version of the military's Purple Heart "Award" to recognize such innocent casualties so they feel more like team players in the war. This way being raped by your own government for a worthy cause may not feel quite so bad.
I am sickened.
What country is this?
One of the FIRST acts of this new Congress should be...
to pass Dr. Paul's legislation regarding TSA. I think TSA should be shut down by the government before the people do it first.
i was thinking
if the airlines have a choice of wether to use TSA or not, doesn't that mean that Airlines are responsible for violations made by their security firm of choice? I wonder if people should be filing lawsuits against the Airlines for what the TSA have been doing. Afterall, it is the security they chose to use, as it is my understanding they can opt out.
So, the airlines ARE responsible. Seems to me that if the Airline companies themselves where hit with tons of lawsuits then they might reconsider their choice and method of screeners and screening.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

its a shame that this is
its a shame that this is happening in america of all places. i mean this isn't a police state is it? because putting a rape victim through this smacks of a complete lack of respect for the citizens of this once great nation.
here's an idea.. since air travel is run by independent companies, why not make it there responsibility to safeguard us on there means of transport without infringing on our persons or rights? how about installing a zero tolerance policy for airlines that have terror or safety standards events, banning them from operating until they are proven to have taken proper steps to do so?
why am i paying taxes to save an independent company money on safety precautions, when i dont even fly?

Make every day Spectacular!!
It's funny how these stories always end...
...with the people who blindly submit to whatever the state wants them to submit to.
"It's unfortunate that that happened and she didn't get to fly home, but it makes me feel a little safer."
"I understand her side of it, and their side as well, but it is for our protection so I have no problems with it."
FOOLS.
You're more likely to die from a peanut allergy than be killed by a terrorist... but this is the kind of crap they want us to go through in order for us to "be safe".
Those cops who dragged her away?? You're 8 times more likely to be killed by one of them than you are to be killed by a terrorist.
You're more than 1000 times more likely to die driving to the airport than you are to die in a terrorist attack.

This shit has to STOP. The sheep have to be awoken or we're sunk.
That is what I don't understand.
How can you feel "safer" after giving up your Constitutionally guaranteed civil liberties. "If I let these people molest me, then I won't be killed by bad people."
They were schooled by the
They were schooled by the government. The constitution is unimportant to them. They are sheep.

Will the American people keep submitting to this?
I hope this is a wake up call those who have doubted that our nation is becoming nothing more than a glorified prison.
This angers me so much to see police and government abuses and in the meanwhile I see the majority of our fellow citizens still living in denial or blissful ignorance. The majority of American people, in a state of cognitive dissonance, happily chant USA! USA! USA! while their freedoms are stripped away.

criminal trespass class-C misdemeanor
She knew the metal detector would be activated. Therefore, she had better have been prepared to follow through with her protest.

She was charged with a criminal trespass class-C misdemeanor and told she was banned from the airport for up to 1-year.

I know I feel safer knowing that the TSA
is blasting people with radiation, touching their "junk", then assaulting and battering them if they decline.
Don't you feel safer?

Isn't
the ACLU looking for these type of cases? If so, I hope she contacts them...

I live in Austin, that's my airport. I suppose it was only a matter of time. I won't be flying until February-ish, what are the odds that this whole process gets tossed out by then?
Yeah, thought so. Civil disobedience it is.

This is just disgusting. What has happened to this country? What happened to all the great men and women? I have only one thing to say in regard to these Nazi Gestapo pigs.... OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!
Don't You Believe in Due Process?
I feel sorry for them. You'd have to be desperate for work to take this job, although I suppose some of them feel they are protecting the public.
Following the rules is a requirement for the job.
They aren't allowed to use their own judgement, because that would be profiling, and has its own set of problems.
Your anger would be better directed toward members of Congress and Homeland Security officials, not these poor slobs.
You can reach voters in California, here: http://consequeries.com/California-voter-guide.php
Problem is..They took a job where thugs kill people...
..So they SHOULD have thought that before even taking this job, is the whole point here.
Why did they take this job if they were innocent people?

All those TSA administrators who enforced this absolute travesty are who must face prosecution.

How can these Airports continue to lie on TV about the wonderful job they are doing?

Last line:
"The TSA says less than three percent of travelers get a pat-down."

From the article:
From the article: "Other travelers KVUE talked to say they empathize with Hirschkind, but the law is the law."
If the law says that cops can beat your brains out without cause - then I guess the law is the law.
Another clueless pleb had this to say: "It's unfortunate that that happened and she didn't get to fly home, but it makes me feel a little safer," said Emily Protine."
Well, Emily, I'm so glad you feel safer now. What did it cost you to gain that warm fuzzy feeling? Did you ever pause for a second to consider that? What did it cost that manacled woman they just dragged down the hall?
And this creature: "I understand her side of it, and their side as well, but it is for our protection so I have no problems with it," said Gwen Washington, who lives in Killeen."
Gwen, you will never know how much the government appreciates your servile cooperation.
Well, I wish they'd have asked at least one person that feels the way I do. I might have said something to the effect: When the government can take away your privacy, your dignity and your freedom to travel in your own country, the ability to summarily take away your life is not far away.
oh, and fu*k you, have a nice day.

Great post.
A good jury trial should be requested!
I believe there is enough disgust for the TSA's tactics to make this a great win.
