2008 Super Boycott - Can We Make Them Cry?
Submitted by NationalCleanEl... on Tue, 12/18/2007 - 23:12Hi friends and neighbors,
I just put up a new site dedicated to getting the Good Doctor, Freedon, Liberty and the Constitution a fair shake.
http://www.2008SuperBoycott.com
I'd like to extend an invitation to all of the good people at Daily Paul to critique the site and give us the input to make the site and the 2008 Super Boycott an overwhelming sucess.
We have a lot of power with what we purchase. The only thing that Old Media and their Advertisers is the Almighty Dollar. Let's tell them how we're going to spend our money and what we think of their attempts to supress our Freedom.
We can vote with our feet :)
Thanks,

I love it!!!
Great concept. Would be totally willing to check up with it before doing anything!

one more thing
the silver/grey text is very hard to see, I sugest either replacing it with another color of moving to a black backgroung with the black test flipped to white.

thoughts
This is a good idea, it needs to be backed by three things if not already.
#1 A growing list of products to avoid
#2 A growing list in a forum perhaps of alternative products
#3 A list one can add their name to which can grow and garner more support, a pledge system. "I pledge to stand with my brothers as long as they stand with me"

Boycott the Media
Seems to me the simplest thing to do would be to boycott the media. And probably best not to even send them a letter.
If you don't watch, they lose their influence over what and where you buy. If they didn't have that influence they wouldn't be able to sell air time so high for people to advertise products. Seems like you'd want to shake off that influence simply because its working is so subtle.
In not watching you also destroy their ability to make you think about the issues they present instead of the other things you could be thinking of at those times when you've been watching.
You can also save money by canceling your cable and unplugging the TV when you're not watching it so it doesn't draw power while waiting to get a signal from the remote.
Read your news, preferably online. Get news intended for literate people instead of news meant for illiterate people. Make a decision about whose take on the stories you trust.
Not to take the air out of your blimp but...
"Media buys" are often done by the ad agencies who represent the sponsors and their products. They often do blanket buys of airtime which they feel best positions the sponsor's message towards the demographics they desire. Many products appear on programs on Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc. simultaneously. In this event - one media outlets program might be rated as Gold with all the sponsors tagged as such and another program could be tagged Stop and the same sponsors would be tagged for contact!
Seems as though it could get complicated to sort it all out! Besides, the MSM is beginning to move a bit...I say give them more time to see where this leads!

Maybe...
I grant you the point that tracking could get complicated but...
The fact that "Media Buys" are done by the ad agencies shouldn't really affect this boycott. Maybe they'll have to look at the blocks of time they purchase more carefully. :)
You did bring up a good point about the outlet vs. sspecific show. I don't want to do a blanket indictment of any network or newspaper chain so maybe we can look at the specific major news show.
As for giving the media more time....I don't think so. Yes they are starting to move a bit however they'll never take us seriously until we send them a message that they can understand, written in lost ad revenue from their clients the businesses who advertise in these outlets.
I say we can make ourselves heard loud and clear. If they have to scramble make good for giving the Good Doctor the short end of the stick that's their problem, not ours. We control what we spend our money on and if we can identify those outlets and businesses that don't believe in freedom, Liberty, and the Constitution then they should be exposed for what they are.
I got an email from one person last night that said Exxon-Mobile should head the stop list.
Thanks for your comments. I appreciate them. If you have any other ideas or comments on how the site could work to our collective advantage I'd love to hear them. Post the from the site via email if you would.

Maybe one way to sort this out...
You would be better served to single out one or two major sponsors of all of these programs as "examples" since they are the one's who pay the bills. This way, you would be sending all the other sponsors and the program directors a real message that there is influence here and the others should beware! You could pick a sponsor who advertises on all the programs, preferably a company heavily supported or invested in by the NEOCONs.
It would need to be a consumer type product(s) or service(s) however.
Regardless, it will take more than a few hundred disgruntled folks to make any difference - hope you get thousands though! GL

Too late, good intentions, bad idea
We're finally getting media attention.
Why boycott them now?

I agree by the time they
I agree by the time they realize their rating have gone down in 2 months, the election will be over.
Never too late...Good Idea
It is a good idea and it's not too late. We need to hold their feet to the fire. All media and all businesses that advertise with them.
This thing isn't over by a long shot....
We've not yet begun to fight....
We can't rest on our laurels....
I'm not out of platitudes....
We don't have the option of quitting now. They really need to know how we feel if the Good Docto is going to get anything close to a Fair Shake. They don't give a rat's a** about us we need to tell them in the only way that they can understand. Vote with our feet.
I'm sure that I wasn't the only one who wrote Glenn Beck an email telling him I'd watch his show for a week straight just to get the names of his advertisers so I could call them and tell them that if the continued to support him I would boycott their products.
These people don't undertand anything but money. Threaten to cut it off and they'll do backflips with half gainers to please us. They may not like it but frankly, I don't give a damn. Their arrogance is offensive to me especially when we support them.
It's time to find out who's going to play fair and who won't.

I liked your site. I notice
I liked your site. I notice the picture of the rally in D.C.
I actually coined the pharse "Dear Government, Why Won't You Answer" for Bob Schultz at We The People in 2001. I used the microsoft "String Bean" clip art (the one scratching his head) as a flyer.
They've used that Dear Government (with and without the "Why Won't You Answer") in a bunch of different things through the years including a full truck ad (both pages folded open) in the Washington Times.
When they shot us down in our quest to have our grievances redressed as required by the Constitution We did "No Answers, No Taxes".
I'm currently a plaintiff in the National Clean Elections Lawsuit.
Encourage everyone to call their governor and ask them why they don't want clean, fair elections. We're not even asking for damages. Just a fair horse race.

NOT SURE
I'm not sure about getting responses..I send email to tons of commercial and media sites and get very few responses except for preprogramed thank you for your comment type responses
Maybe...Maybe Not
If I were an advertiser and I had somone with a website dedicated to not buying my product if I didn't with an affirmative response I might get a little worries.
I'll bet Glen Beck had a few call from his advertisers.
These guys live and die by the dollar and they'll accommodate to keep from upsetting the applecart.

I wonder if Glen Beck's advertisers had anything to do with him giving the Good Doctor an hour of Prime netwok time?

Been Thinking About the Same Thing
SInce a thread I started yesterday, I've been thinking about a National Cancel Cable Day. Dovetails nicely with your thoughts. Our money is our power against these manipulative media goons.

If you have any comments about the site and how it shoud function, etc. I'd love to hear them. I'd like for this to be a real grassroots effort.

Nice site.
This is a practical tool to share our opinions with the media. I suspect it will get some use.
