Pro-Israel doesn't mean you have to finance their nation
I'm a Christian conservative and very pro-Israel. I also happen to be very pro-Ron Paul for the last 10 years or so. I don't see a conflict with those 2 positions.
Ron Paul has stated on numerous occasions, and quite correctly I believe, that Israel would be better off having the freedom themselves to act unilaterally against her enemies without having to get "America's blessing" beforehand. The reason Israel must now get our blessing is because the neo-cons have an agenda for the Middle East and Israel must not disrupt that agenda unless they want to jeopardize the aid we send them.
Israel is plenty powerful to take care of herself. The USA simply hampers her power.
Back to Ron Paul... this is a complicated issue, the Middle East, but I think the proper course of action for us is to disengage. Not because "we're losing" or "we lost." But, like Dr. Paul says in this interview, we have been following the wrong course of action and we ought to recognize that and make the necessary adjustments.
I Disagree
Ron Paul has said on numerous occasions that he wants to treat all nations equally. You don’t believe that Dr. No would veto a spending bill for Israel? From what I have seen Ron Paul can be counted on to not spend money where it is not required. If you are talking moral support then maybe you have something, but if I don’t have to pay for it, I couldn’t care less.
My gun control is a steady hand.
Ron Paul is Pro-Israel
I've never listened to Gallagher before, but I thought this was a fair interview . . .
One thing I find interesting is that Ron Paul's foreign policy is ultimately pro-Israel. Too bad more people don't realize that. But if the U.S. wasn't propping up certain regimes over there then Israel wouldn't need to maintain such a huge military. And if the U.S. hadn't meddled in Iran and created Blowback then Israel would be safer today as well. I think in the long run a Ron Paul presidency would really benefit Israel.
