Update...>>.What does your name mean?? Tell me.

UPDATE: Wow....a lot of cool names. Thanks for posting. It is really interesting the stories behind each persons name. When I see somebodies screen name, I have my own view of what it means....and it looks like I am 100% wrong. Thanks again for sharing.

A long time ago..here on the DP a thread like this was posted...and it gave clarity to why you chose your name.
"Takeaction" I chose that name because 3 years and 17 weeks ago I was in the middle of doing everything I could to spread the Ron Paul name. I was handing out flyers, burning DVD's and donating to everything from the Granny Warriors to the Blimp as well as sign waving and attending all of my local meet up groups. I even got in trouble one night on a cruise ship . A friend and I were a little intoxicated and we had 1000 Ron Paul Description Cards and we went to every room and put them inside their rooms mailbox. Floor after floor...it took hours but we had a blast. The next day during lunch the captain came on the loud speaker and said..."Please be advised we will not tolerate political propaganda in the state room mail boxes. Whoever put all of the Ron Paul fliers out last night, please stop." Well, you would think they could rewind the cameras...but oh well....we got our point across.

This is why I chose "TakeAction" What does your name stand for and why did you choose it?

I grabbed these along the side...what do they mean, and why that name?

northstar's picture

Mine was just something simple for me

I actually have another DP name called star, but in the very early days of joining, something got all fubered with it and I could not recover it. So with that, I made northstar since I'm from up north in Minnesota.

Nice thread...

Mine is pretty obvious, Thomas Jefferson - 1776. Just wanted to say that I love the thread. There are some witty names out there. :)

Again...see

I did not know TJ was "Thomas Jefferson". Thanks

Answer: Huckabee and the

Answer: Huckabee and the 'floating cross' Christmas e-card. There were a couple of dedicated trolls sitting on that youtube video defending his lies denying the cross, etc. Needed a name that would draw attention to truth posted and attract attention to a fun first video project. Seemed a good enough name to use otherwise so it stuck.

Kind of obvious, but not

Bought my first BMW Motorcycle years ago. Then became a salesman, sales manager and then general manager in the local BMW motorcycle shop.

Left the business for a few years of offshore work. ROV's/ electronics technician and pilot. Now have taken the opportunity with a good friend and purchased the same BMW shop from years ago. Guess I am a businessman motorcyclist now. Still ride 50,000 miles per year just as I always have.

spouse and I . . .

one of us is one of only two people with that name in the U.S.--

the other of us is the only person who has that name in the world--

any more questions? LOL!

As I said when I started on here, I/we have someone vulnerable to protect, and so I don't stick my neck out any more than I absolutely have to. Even with that, I am sure that probably the PTB have a file or two on us. We have done things that have called attention to ourselves that the PTB don't like--
being on here has made us feel less alone; we are definitely not mainstream--and we both felt it was time to 'lay low'--

If I (the 1988vote half who is writing this) were alone, I'd step in front of the first tank I saw coming--gladly.

1988vote says a lot; spouse and I both voted for Ron Paul that year.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I used to have a screen name here at DP.

Remember all that stuff that went down when C4L had received money from "other donors" that went to make "special ads" for some candidate in Colorado?

Well, reading through all of that, I respected Michael Nystrom even more than I had before all that stuff happened. His pointing out that it is easy to sit behind an anonymous screen name and comment without people knowing who you are really go to me.

It was then that I knew that I would take on the darkness WITHOUT anonymity. I changed my screen name to my name. Let the Powers That Be, be damned.

In a way, it's really a good thing to not have the anonymity. It really makes you think twice before commenting.

Anyway, thanks again Michael Nystrom for this site and your in-sight. :-)

Hear, Hear!

I agree with you completely. My phone number has been listed in the phone book forever. I'm not hiding from anybody in that sense.

I believe it is important to assume that what one says in public (like here) will someday be attributed to one, so if I'm not prepared to defend it in person, I don't say it.

That said, because I have a unique name (only one in the world, as far as I know), I chose not to use it to interact here. Sometimes when you meet someone new or interview for a job, you don't want them to know everything out of context.

One of my city council members already googled me to brand me a libertarian "instigator." I'm rather pround of that, but, I realized that if I didn't use a nom de plume, it would put a chill on my speech, even though I still try to write only what I would be willing to defend in person.

All that said, Manystrom knows my real name (if he looks for it) and I used my real name on the FEC reports of donations to Ron Paul.

Anonymity provides a freedom, but no freedom is without responsibility, and I take them both seriously.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

delvin

every time i hear the verb "delve", it is viewed negatively... i.e. "we don't want to delve into that just yet." (i mostly heard this in my polisci/ econ/ history classes in college). if you really want to learn somethin, you have to really get down to business and do some delvin.

i dont include the g in correct present participle form because i don't use the g when i speak and am not trying to be someone i'm not, i also would care less if "I" is capitalized every time - as if the reader won't understand who or what i'm saying if i don't capitalize the first words of sentences and proper nouns. i don't like to follow the pointless rules of "proper" english - i'm not a proper person. i've done a helluva lotta serious delvin on the DP, thanks for everything, everybody.

It is my design name

a shortened stage name version of my real name. Pronounced G Marteen.

I figure we will

get rolled over like Czechoslovakia.

Chose mine for a number of reasons.

ksa = Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

First reason I chose it is not many people would know what ksa stood for and when I first started posting I wasn't ready for many to know :)

Second reason, I am a dual citizen, American first, Saudi second due to my living there for more than half my life after marrying my husband. I love both my countries. I'm like a coin with 2 sides, doesn't matter which side is showing, it's still just one coin.

Third reason I chose my name is that the PEOPLE of Saudi Arabia are fierce lovers of individual liberty and privacy. They don't like anyone telling them what to do or how to do it. It may not seem that way from the outside, but it is.

Swedish, means "new stream." At the beginning, I used manystrom, - my first two initials & my last name. That is really what my life is about: many streams.

Samuel Howell had served

Samuel Howell had served during the Revolutionary War in the Light Horse of the City of Philadelphia (Philadelphia City Troop). He had been an iron merchant at the time of his death, and a seaman some time earlier. He was the commander of a company in the McPherson cavalry, later called The City Troop and was first corporal in the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine and Germantown. He also served during the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794 as a sergeant.

He was a contributor to the Pennsylvania hospital in 1772, a member of the Gloucester fox-hunting club in 1773 and of the "State in Schuylkill" in 1784.

Appointed by President Washington as Commissioner U.S. Bank March 19th, 1791.

He was, also, my 6th great grandfather.

legalizeliberty

I took this name because I loved it ever since I heard a patriot shout it out in NH during one of the protests there several years ago {I think it was marijuana legalization rally}.

The "Korea Guzzlers"

International Softball Team...Played for them in a few tournaments in Asia (Korea, Philippines, Thailand) during the '96 season. Very good team, reigning champs at a couple tournaments. Great group of guys! After either winning or being beat out of a tournament, we proceeded to guzzle some brew. That was a fun year!!
