Jim DeMint, Chris Christie Skipping CPAC 2011

One invitation has been followed by a lot of rejection for the Conservative Political Action Conference.

After event organizers decided to allow GOProud, a gay Republican group, to be a "participating organization" for a second straight year, social conservative organizations like the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America decided they wouldn't be coming out. Ditto for the Heritage Foundation and the American Family Association. Now, two more leading conservatives have announced they're going to skip March's festivities.

"With leading conservatives organizations not participating this year, Senator [Jim] DeMint will not be attending. He hopes to attend a unified CPAC next year," a spokesman for the South Carolina Republican told CNN.

It's a shame you had to change the headline...

In an attempt to make a false assertion. Not even the "rag" left wing website, you are using for your post, was willing to sink as low.
"With leading conservatives organizations not participating this year, Senator [Jim] DeMint will not be attending. He hopes to attend a unified CPAC next year," a spokesman for the South Carolina Republican told CNN."

A Unified CPAC would infer ALL PARTIES INCLUDED!! That would include GOProud, who was there last year along w/ Senator Demint.

If you find it necessary to re-write or mis-quote the Huffington Post to make a false point, it speaks volumes about you. I'll let the readers decide for themselves.

Geez captcorona

Give Bobby a break-so he inferred incorrectly. He posts a lot and will screw up some times.

Bobby does more for this site than 95% of the people here.

And he fixed the headline for you.

We all have the same goal--no need to attack one another

Thanks Stu

You are right--I scan pieces that I post and some times miss things when I make the headlines.

I have an admission: unlike a few people here, I am a fallable human being.

Thanks Bobby and Stu!

credibility, is important and misleading head lines that flame other people compromises that. Thank's for the correction in the Head Line.

You're welcome

I agree--I read the headline that I first wrote and was disappointed in DeMint. Then I read the whole article and realized that it was not what I thought.

I changed the title for you

Thanks for "letting" the readers decide for themselves--shows you love freedom.

Thanks for your contribution.

I am a Christian Pastor

And I would not try to deny Go Proud. I could care less about gay marriage. The religious right is quickly losing its power.

Now on a personal choice I have opinions . . . but that does not extend to a persons right to live how they want.

I wish the government would get out of marraige

but as long as government is in marraige I dont want there to be gay "marraige" because they are just going to start suing churches for not marrying them. If you get the government out I dont care. Yes I am a glass is half empty type of person.

not as deluded

as you are, dude.

not to mention that all I am saying is that these groups feel compelled to not attend because of beliefs.

And you labeling everyone who is not an atheist flame a neocon?

Who is the collectivist?

We are on a Ron Paul site because we trust the message, why are you on a Ron Paul site?

Don't you know that he is deluded Christian who believes in family values?

Your rhetoric has one outcome: political loss.

I'm assuming this is to me?

(There should be a 'reply' tab at the end of each post. If not on your screen, something is amiss)

I suppose I will continue line by line, otherwise I would need to somehow try to summarize what you are saying, and I don't think I would be able to do that.

"not to mention that all I am saying is that these groups feel compelled to not attend because of beliefs." ---- I agreed with that, twice. And I say huzaah!

"And you labeling everyone who is not an atheist flame a neocon?" ---- I never did any such thing. That is a lie. Why do you need to lie about me? Not to mention it is a strawman. I did state that the groups not attending (Concerned Women of America & Family Research Council) are Neoconservative front groups, which they are.

"Who is the collectivist?" ---- Definitely not me. What have I said that indicates that? There is a difference between believing in the right of adults to form free associations and 'collectively' rejecting a group of people for political goals.

"We are on a Ron Paul site because we trust the message, why are you on a Ron Paul site?" ---- I won't bother giving you my "Ron Paul Resume", it is long, but it seems in this discussion I have been the one trumpeting the Freedom Message, not playing politics, morality and liberty be damned.

"Don't you know that he is deluded Christian who believes in family values?" ---- I do know that. I also know every member of my family and my spouse are "deluded" Christians, but I still love them. I believe in family values as well. I come from a large extended family group on both my parent's sides with only a couple divorces, and those were based on violence and annulled. What's your point? Only a collectivist would say that I have to agree with absolutely every thought Ron Paul has in order to be part of his philosophical fraternity.

"Your rhetoric has one outcome: political loss." ----Perhaps....But, at least I won't be sacrificing my philosophy or the Freedom Message for a cheap political gain. I would never vote for a Neocon either, even if they promised to audit the FED in exchange. Sometimes a high moral standard is worth keeping, even in the face of a political loss.

alright man

you beat me in an argument.

My ten year old just beat me in chess.

I'm just going to take my fallacious non sequitirial ramblings, wad them up, and point by point, cram 'em in my strawman.

Something I can be proud of, huh?

Can I get a Ron Paul?

Ha ha ha ha - Be proud!!!

Your sense of humor is rockin'! And that's... priceless!

I Accept

your surrender. On to CPAC!

Watch them make last minute decisions

to attend.

Let's Talk Marriage

I am not sure what GOProud's stance is on gay marriage but it would be a good opportunity for us to educate them (and from what I've seen, ourselves) as to the governments role in marriage, which should be NONE.
Gay marriage is one of the biggest strawmen around.
A true Christian does not need a government certificate of validation for a christian marriage. I have always said if gay folks want to say they are married, so what?
Ask yourself what is more valid, a government piece of paper calling two people married, or a Christian marriage in the eyes of the Lord?
Basic fact is this. Anytime the government gives one group of people certain rights and priviliges, you can bet others will want the same rights and priviliges. Do away with those, and the gay marriage issue will disappear.
All the debate is whether the government should allow gay marriage, when the real question is who the hell is the government to have any say in it at all?
Many gay folks have never had this idea put to them and you can see the lightbulb go on when it is. Ask them if they like being used as pawns by politicians. Do you really think they want to be united in a ceremony of something that does not recognize or condone their lifestyle? It's about the benefits!
I am so sick of 'conservatives' and tea party types who scream for limited government and adhering to the constitution, as long as nanny 'protects' government marriage and doesn't touch their social security or medicare.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

(applauds)

Excellent

Yes, that's the Libertarian position: don't leave determination of a spiritual union in the tender hands of voters, their elected representatives, and government employees.

You'd think these statist morality groups would take advantage of the oportunity to meet with others and try and convince them of the error of their ways.

Pouting and refusing to talk to someone is a bit childish. Or maybe they're just scared.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I see this as a move to further push the left away from the righ

and make Obama and the dems seem more accepting of people, further dividing us into two groups, because the right hates you gay people, geez. That is all I see out of this, they want very definitive lines dividing us.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

A Convenient Excuse

You can bet those "conservative" politicians would be there if they thought it would do them some good. They got burned last year and don't want to be embarrassed again being beaten by Ron Paul.

DeMint won't sit beside gays.

WWJD?

The Constitution Protects Individual Rights Including Queers,

Gays Or Fairies..It Doesn't Make Exceptions..

Christie Said On The Radio A Few Days Ago That He Is Not Interested In Running For President. His Wish Is To Serve The People Of New Jersey As Their Governor.

Chrisitie knows that people are watching

He is out of the state far too often, usually campaigning. Did you ever see the ads for this? http://whereschristie.com/

New Jerseyans are ticked that we had to hire a lieutenant governor, and they were both out of state during the last big snow storm. I don't have an issue with him taking a vacation with his family...but if the lieutenant governor doesn't have to be here when he's gone, we don't need her.

OK... reading below.. CAN WE

OK... reading below.. CAN WE JUST GET PAST THE GAY PART. Some of you don't understand.. All this is, is a way to discredit a big Ron Paul straw poll win.
We do not need to get into a gay/right/wrong discussion here. Again the reason is to take wind from the sails of the Ron Paul camp. that is all this is.

Good thinking. They may also

Good thinking. They may also bring up that he voted to let sodomites in the military. That might not make alot of conservatives happy.

Yep.

It will be used to discredit the results.

Wouldn't expect anything less...

from the media industrial complex.

Watch out for Chris Christie

this guy is gonnna be the GOP favorite for 2012. I don't care what anyone says; how much he denies it himself. He's in the spotlight and he's gonna be controlled opposition to Obama.

He's being well groomed for the past year and throughout this year and next year. The PTB's real intention to bringing in Chris Christie into the arena is to counter the Ron Paul Revolution. Mark my words!
