War is

something you shouldn't have to think about at your age. It is not a good thing. It is a bad thing that bad grow ups with too much money and power do to get more money and power most of the time. Sometimes it is when one country tries to hurt another one and they have to protect themselves. That is the only time we should ever have a war.

If you can, stop at the first sentence.

War is

War is one group of leaders trying to force their ideas upon another group.

War is best won by "taking whole", meaning the winners make the losers winners, as well.

Battle is where bloodshed happens, and it is best not to do battle if the War is unwinnable and has unclear lines drawn.

These wars that are going on today are murky, unclear rackets for the big fiat bankster war machine. Shouldn't even be called war. Should be called organized crime.

"Freedom Is A Road Seldom Traveled By The Multitude." - Frederick Douglass

An Abomination

War results from blind allegiance to anything. Anything that runs from questioning and resultant truth about why that trust is justified thrives on war. If nothing where hidden, wars would be slap fights in a Yale fraternity shower. War is ignorance of truth.

I have always thought the actions of men the best interpreters of their thoughts.

How about ....... when people

How about ....... when people use force to get what they want?

Trust in God, but tie your camel tight.

"Socialism needs two legs on which to stand; a right and a left. While appearing to be in complete opposition to one another, they both march in the same direction." - Paul Proctor

I'd follow up with a question

"Why do you want to know that, sweetie?"
"What made you think of that?"

I think I'd want to know the context of the question before I tried to answer it.

Here you go.....

War Sucks

Tell him war is when a big group of people fight eachother... then add indeviduals dont go2 war !!

A civic conflict that has not been resolved in court

War is...

Greedy, rich politicians sending the sons (and daughters) of the poor of a nation to fight their battles for them.

four year old

let him watch gi joes or something. Four year olds are great at asking questions but they are not so great at understanding stuff. Like they ask where do babies come from you simply tell them a mommies stomach and that is good for a couple of years. Maybe say that is when a nation fights a nation, but he probably doesnt grasp what a nation is yet. So i am back to gi joes. Or star wars or something. Note there is a lot to a war so watch out what the four year old takes a hold of in your explanation. They tend to find one thing they like and run with it and tell everybody.

Best answers:

I vote for Quilting and Mike Lawson's answers as best of show thus far (because they best speak to the age of the questioner!).

Phil. 4:13

The problem is?

The problem is this four year old is about ten years old in mentality. She also has the memory of an elephant and will remember to ask again two months from now.It will be pursued until a satisfactory answer is found.Welcome to my world.

War is..

The health of the state. There to increase government control and power and spread it's will (currently spreading throughout the globe)

Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto. - T. Jefferson rЭVO˩ution

"Everyone wants to live at the expense of the state. They forget that the state wants to live at the expense of everyone.” - BASTIAT

A struggle for peace. It can be an individual struggle i.e. One may not accept that he/she is a homosexual where societal norms define such a preference as an issue.

or war may be a collective struggle,One may struggle with an ailing economic, ecological, or political environment and react in accordance with community norms. i.e. A Afghani man witnesses his family murdered by an ISI air raid and is talked into joining local radical groups to keep their community safe.

A true flower can not blossom without sunlight and a true man can not live without love.

War is:

A complete and utter failure of society to properly conduct itself. It is a tool used for bad people to make money on the destruction of others lives as the people that start wars are never themselves effected by them in most cases. Later in life you can relate the U.S. government and their "failures" once realized that war is not of necessity but like all else based on greed of a few.

Always remember:
"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." ~ Samuel Adams

older who is struggling to understand this, as well.

In the 'community' it is as though there is no war going on in the middle east, no fighting--

nobody talks about it; most people would rather talk about football, etc.

And, if a person brings up the topic of war, it is quickly silenced.

Something is terribly wrong with this--

In order to stop this horror, the reality of it must be faced, somehow.

My parents' generation lauded war; they were the WWII generation; my generation (I'm collectivizing here) either protested or silently didn't like war, mostly--

and we failed--

will a generation rise up and say, "no more!"--

I used to think War was

when nations were angry and could not agree and began to fight like a brother and a sister over a toy. Now I believe it is more like a neighbor boy who gets a bother and sister to fight and the neighbor boy steals the toy.
