CPAC is giving the Defender of the Constitution Award to - Donald Rumsfeld?

At 4:00 pm Thursday February 10, 2011, CPAC is honoring Donald Rumsfeld for his lifetime of defending the Constitution? Evidently CPAC does not care about the part of the Constitution that says only the Congress can take us to war.

Rush Limbaugh was honored with this award 2 years ago, even though he's never held a position where he had to take an oath to defend the Constitution. So this is equivalent to Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize after sending in more troops to Afghanistan.

Obviously, the neocons are in control of CPAC. We must have a spectacular presence there this year and push our idealistic government actions for liberty, prosperity and peace. We need to win this war on ideas of what true conservatism is. I hope you can make it to CPAC, I wish I could go.

FYI, I'm not openly saying you should attend and heckle him. Hecklers never get their ideas across since it's done in a disrespectful manner. Instead, if you do go to his presentation, talk to others around you and invite them to some of C4L's events.

We know what to do for this award.

I hope you all love Floridians. Because Floridians love you. :) Come see us at CPAC. We will be there in flocks. Come and talk to us in person before Rand that day. Fo Sho. :)

DONT attend

save your money and get the Tea Party or the Ron Paul movement to hold an event around that same time and leave CPAC. Watch it cave in on itself. Atending is helping the GOP neocons co-opt the T Party and ron Paul.

and he did a great job managing the money over at the Pentagon...he only lost or misplaced 2.3 trillion dollars. Good job Rummy....and he "knew" for sure that those WMD's were sprinkled all over Baghdad too. What a smart fellow.

I hope that all the C4L

people who are there will make a large puking sound when this award is bestowed. Democrats & liberals out there need to know that not all republicans & conservatives are
*(&I*(&^! MORONS!!!!!!!!!

He never defended the Constitution .

He defended what is know to the Elite as American Interests, what ever they are.
Someone has their priorities mixed up.

they dont have their priorities mixed up

they're taking orders and the people on this forum havent figured that out yet.

Has anyone actually asked CPAC

if they can name even one single thing that Rumsfeld EVER did to "defend the Constitution", which would justify such an award?

What in the world could their criteria possibly have been?
I'll tell you what it is. Somebody pulled the strings to get some Neocon like Rumsfeld "honored" for something he never did, so that there might be some chance that the Neocons could try to regain some foothold in power. Make it seem like somebody thinks they are "conservatives". Try to make them "look good", as if such a thing could be possible.

I would love to see what kind of "list" the introduction for Rumsfeld has on it, which could possibly be construed as "defending the Constitution".
There is nothing that could be on that list. It's clearly a politicized and contrived "award" that is NOT based on what they claim the award is supposed to be for.

So sick of them making a mockery of this Constitution award when it is GLARINGLY obvious it should go to DR. PAUL every year. That they're handing it to this Murderer is a slap in American's faces as well as making a joke of defending the Constitution. The Paul Party should hold their own.

Patriots attending should hand out the pic of Rumsfeld shaking the Neo-Con dummy Saddam Hussein's hand.

U.S Defence Secretary used quotes from Bible to brief Bush on 'mission from God' war

Comments: Is U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld personally profiting from fears that a worldwide bird flu pandemic may occur?
Yes. Rumsfeld once served as chairman of Gilead Sciences, Inc., the company that holds the patent on the antiviral drug Tamiflu, currently regarded as the world's best hope for the prevention and treatment of avian influenza. He still owns Gilead stock valued at between $5 million and $25 million.

"Rasputin" Rumsfeld used Bible to bolster Bush's war belief

One of my reasons for reading the DP is that I often find things like this that I missed when it made news and then got dropped. Thanks Lacandy, for posting this.

In one link you posted, I found this telling quote:

"Former U.S. Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld used 'biblical images' to deliver reports on the war in Iraq to President Bush.

"With the former president known for his devout evangelical beliefs, bible passages were printed on the top secret briefs detailing the progress of the war in 2003, it has emerged."...

"Rumsfeld was not known for having strong religious beliefs and has been described as acting as a modern-day Rasputin by 'manipulating Bush's evangelical beliefs'."

Neither of these characters seem to have any practical appreciation for the Just War theory. It would seem more likely that if Rumsfeld stuck a bookmark with a Bible verse on it into an underlined copy of The Prince by Machiavelli, he could count on Bush to make them fit together in his war agenda, and feel good about it at the same time.

Well, I found this verse that would seem to fit them both:

Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts. - Jer 2:19

Bible beliefs??

Don't BOTH these killers attend that "something Grove" place in the woods every year that does some kind of pagan worship?

Scripture stew is what they do

Where the article states that Rumsfeld "has been described as acting as a modern-day Rasputin by 'manipulating Bush's evangelical beliefs'", it also states the Rumsfeld was also "not known for having strong religious beliefs".

The history of Russian Czars includes the assent of Rasputin from obscurity to to the point where he was more powerful than the Czars themselves by seducing them through appealing to their religious ideals.

"When Rasputin expressed an interest in going to the front to bless the troops early in the war, the Commander-in-Chief, Grand Duke Nicholas, promised to hang him if he dared to show up there. Rasputin then claimed that he had a revelation that the Russian armies would not be successful until the Tsar personally took command. With this, the ill-prepared Tsar Nicholas proceeded to take personal command of the Russian army, with dire consequences for himself as well as for Russia.

While Tsar Nicholas II was away at the front, Rasputin's influence over Tsaritsa Alexandra increased immensely. He soon became her confidant and personal adviser, and also convinced her to fill some governmental offices with his own handpicked candidates. To further the advance of his power, Rasputin cohabited with upper-class women in exchange for granting political favours. Because of World War I and the ossifying effects of feudalism and a meddling government bureaucracy, Russia's economy was declining at a very rapid rate. Many at the time laid the blame with Alexandra and with Rasputin, because of his influence over her."

The use of holy scripture to justify such gross misapplications will one day earn an eternal consequence from the Holy One who gave them to lead us in righteousness.

This "drama" is wasting lots of peoples time

I'm being asked to comment every friggin where... Below is from elsewhere on the same subject... Food for Thought

The way I see it, CPAC is a long-running event where different clans of conservatives gather. As in any "big tent", there are bound to be groups/people who strongly disagree with other groups/people on any number of "policies". But at CPAC, like many olden gatherings of the Clans, people/groups do a good job of either avoiding their bitter enemies altogether, or engage them in organized discussions.

Putting aside the atrocity of Rumsfeld receiving this award. I am wondering why the planners would have put this ceremony immediately after Rand's speech? Does someone want us to make a scene? We already have a bad reputation as "troublemakers and infiltrators"; while some of that is a good thing for recruiting, CPAC is not a place for recruiting.

Again, will an organized "protest" play into the hands of some unseen player (like Brietbart...) Think about it...

This will be my third CPAC. Every time there are these "plans" to walk out on someone, or worse. Each time Ron Paul is forced to have to ask us to behave respectfully. I will have no part such a thing. Since he has had to say something in the past about these type "plans", I see no reason that, should such plans be carried forward, he wont be forced to ask us to behave, again. And, to me, that will be both embarrassing and counterproductive.

That said, I'll be watching Rands speech from wherever I end up, and will leave when he finishes, so I don't throw up...

Michael Maresco, I totally

Michael Maresco, I totally agree with you. CPAC has been gracious enough to allow ALL conservatives despite disagreements (such as GOProud) to be there.

I believe RP/C4L people will not create a scene and will allow this private organization (American Conservative Union) to credit where they believe credit should be given, despite obvious disagreements.

I brought this up on Daily Paul because I believe we should all be aware that neocons are still out there and in charge of these organizations. I believe we are influencing these groups quicker than we think with election victories like we just had in the fall. Soon, people who have actually defeneded the Constitution will truly be honored with such awards. But until then, we need to apply pressure to conservatives about the Constitution, and what it means to actually defend it. We know our philosophy is more consistent with the Constitution. Eventually, they will NOT be able to ignore us.

I'm certain Ron Paul followers will make moral decisions with how to deal with opposition within the party we are a part of, Republican.

WOW!: Mr. SoD Can't-find $2.3T Rumsfeld.

How was award given?

A couple trillion here, a couple trillion there,...

...pretty soon you're talking about some REAL money! -

That's Rumsfeld's likely punchline at some Washington-insiders cocktail party, courting deals for the same IMC that Ike warned us about.

CPAC has given us a gift here... Let's open it up!

The defense of the Constitution ought to become a prime topic of discussion ahead of the CPAC event, simply because of who they nominated to receive an award by that title.

By announcing Rumsfeld ahead of the event, CPAC staffers have set the neo-Con vs Liberty perspectives of such defense at deliberate odds, creating a huge opportunity to raise the topic in many different settings and media.

It's time to rise and shine here, folks. Brush-fires of Liberty are impossible to quench with leaky neo-Con arguments!

Strategy to respond during award presentation

I am attending CPAC again this year. Contacted HQ for advice as to how RP would like his supporters to conduct themselves, am waiting for a return phone call.

Based on an experience from last year there was a similar situation. The word was put out not to be disrespectful. We must remember to act just like we were he, as that is what he would like us to do.

My suggestions:

1) We should take up as many seats as possible. The dinosaurs and RINOs occupy the "diamond" area right up front- so they will be wildly applauding. I suggest no applause. Turning and facing backwards is very disrepectful.

2) Order a 4 x 6 inch logo sticker, unpeel the backing a little and secure it to a chop stick or skewer and make your own little C4L flag to wave. HQ will have a limited number of these at CPAC. Hold up this flag in silence from a seated position.

3) Bring small American flags to wave when liberty candidates are on stage and wave them en masse.

Throwing shoes would be good

but libel to land you in Gitmo and water boarded.

"We can see with our eyes, hear with our ears and feel with our touch, but we understand with our hearts."

Turning our backs on him is a good idea, but it could easily be cropped out of video & the neocons would be able to be heard cheering on video, so I think doing something involving sound would be good. Someone posted on Facebook today that people were going to be chanting, "Ron Paul Ron Paul." Another idea is to laugh, like the Chinese laughed when Geithner spoke there. Or, boos would work.

The guy is a mass murderer.

Not only to people in the middle east but to our own troops.

The use of DU? The approval of aspertame?
The line has to be drawn somewhere. Boo him out of the building and shout him down for the murderer he is. Trash like him deserves zero respect.

Comparable to.......

giving the current leader of North Korea (his name escapes me at the moment) a Global Defender of Human Rights Lifetime Achievement Award. A completely absurd and utterly ridiculous premise. The Neo-Cons must be removed from power over the GOP at all cost.

They gave Obama the Peace Prize

nono, it's for their new comedy segment

they're trying to be funny...get it? Play along: someone should bring a speaker to play a rimshot after they announce his name, followed by a long, loud laugh track, and a man in a tux pulling him offstage with a crook cane.
