Obama Announces New Electric Car Rebate--$7500...courtesy you and me.

"The electric-car industry would get a boost through improved incentives for car buyers and help for cities in providing vehicle-charging infrastructure - if Congress agrees to Obama administration proposals touted yesterday.

The buyer incentive would change to a $7,500 rebate at the point of sale under the proposal, replacing a tax credit of the same amount, Department of Energy officials told reporters yesterday.

The instant rebate would mean less paperwork and quicker savings for customers at a time when the number of electric-car options is about to increase dramatically.

The program would be cheaper

The program would be cheaper if they just bought the cars and handed them out. A person will get $7,500 and to administrate the program it will cost $50k per application.

And I'm probably being conservative.
