The Sleeping Giant is Awakening...

A very close family member of an older generation, a life-long democrat, just told me she likes Rand Paul... she has noticed him on the news. She said he is bringing to Washington what he said he would bring.

She was also impressed by reports of RP supporters walking out on Rumsfield at CPAC. (She thought it was Ron Paul himself who walked out on Cheney - I had to straighten that out for her, and also explain that is just not the Pauls' style.)

It might sound small, but it's actually huge... I think it says a lot about 2012... It also says a lot about Rand's appeal - even across the aisle - the great (artificial) divide.

I have also heard stories/rumors over the years about public figures and people from the press who have undergone the relentless pressure from their Ron Paul-supporting college age or young adult kids to WAKE UP. Obviously, you and I can tell when somebody's started reading Ron Paul...

Anybody else have any personal stories like this? Have we begun to awaken the Sleeping Giant?

When People know about the Bankruptcy scam of 1933

Is when the sleeping Giant really wakes up. "If people really knew the true nature of the monetary system there would be revolution by morning", Henry Ford. HJR-192 !!!!! Ever hear of this bill passed June 3,1933 ? www.youtube.com Plug "Bankruptcy scam of 1933, part 2" into search engine and take a listen. The big lie is coming out.

No, no you haven't.

Do the people you've 'waken up' realize it's wrong to force otherwise peaceful people to act in certain ways? Do the people you've 'woken up' realize it's wrong to steal from people? After all, Taxation IS THEFT!

You haven't 'woken up' anything or anyone. All you've done is gotten statists to change who they have decided to believe in. Kinda like converting a Catholic who was a believer in Pope John Paul II to a Catholic who believes in John Paul III.

How about waking up to the reality that it's always wrong to steal from people and it's always wrong to initiate force against peaaceful people? Want to try that?

For folks to come to those conclusions takes time, none.

Most people believe the sound bites provided by TV personalities, and until they do some research on the internet or by reading good books on natural law (such as THE LAW written by Federic Bastiat) they don't really understand.
It is a learning process, and we all go through it, (if you can admit it, even you)
The trick is to open a little crack in their minds to whet their appetite for personal liberty. An honest person will take it from there.
Ron Paul teaches like this. Some of the things he says sound pretty outrageous compared to the "soundbites" that are "truth" to so many, but it opens a little crack in a closed mind.

can't leap a mountain in a single bound; agreed

Appropriately phrased, a few good questions will stick with anyone, and individually coming to a conclusion is far more permanent than being told "What Is Right And Wrong".

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it." | Up for a game?

I've informed people

on a lot of concepts they had no idea about. How much we spend a year in interest alone is a huge hit, but it is quite difficult to influence people who are totally brainwashed by social security and the public services and the terrorist propaganda.

I've converted my brothers

I've converted my 2 brothers :)

But we will not be voting for him... we're french :')

That's just awesome!

Freedom is popular... all over the world. I'm very curious what the process was getting interested and learning about Ron Paul for you?

I wonder how far and wide Ron Paul's influence is all around the world .... and how people get turned on to him at a distance.

No, you are correct. It is not small. It is HUGE!

My grandmother (who is 80) in 2008 liked Ron Paul but thought he wasn't 'presidential' enough. (seriously folks) But now, makes it a point to let me know EVERY time she sees him interviewed and how he makes so much SENSE. But of course, she continues with the sentiment that she WISHES he were more 'presidential.'

The nation, especially the 'greatest generation' is RIPE for Ron Paul, but maybe not his style.

They may be warming up to him, but they are RIPE for anyone with the same message and a better delivery.

(hint, hint)

Keep it up DP.

Just when we might think we are down, we are DEFINITELY NOT OUT.

Thanks Lao!

With the advent of this new post rating system, I would LOVE to see this post make #1!

Ron Paul

Not left, not right, a true American. I want to meet him before I die.

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

Me too.

I like that slogan... nice for bumper stickers.

Ron Paul -

The only one left who is right

I like it. :-)

"I like that slogan"

Another good bumper sticker slogan is:

"It's not about right vs left. It is about the STATE vs YOU"

I've converted 3 friends, one

I've converted 3 friends, one family member and possibly many strangers.

I know that my brother converted 3 friends of his as well.

I think the movement easily quadrupled in size since 2008...

That's a lot! And I hope you're right about it quadrupling.

In my circle of family & friends it's a VERY slow process. Like watching a flower bloom in slow motion... But I do notice these little signs that show the flower is slowly turning toward the sun - and letting in more and more of the light (truth).

Ron Paul-A New Hope!

Using this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG2PUZoukfA I woke up my children and my older grandchildren and they in turn woke up many of their friends!
My oldest son and his wife had never taken an interest in politics, but they became part of the sign-waving contingent in NW Washington state.
My #2 son and his friend had sign making sessions and blanketed our county with our signs!
OUr family get-togethers revolved around Ron Paul appearances in Boise, Idaho, Seattle, Washington, AND the Rally for the Republic in Minnesota!
My 90+ yr old parents told me they voted for Ron Paul!

This was one of my personal favorites.

Good for you for converting generations! My mom may be coming around...we have talked to her about this, and she seems more open-minded ( siblings disagree with me)

In Spite of My Sarcastic Style...

I have had tremendous success in the "conversion" process. I can count a total of 24... with numerous others teetering on the brink. Most were Neo-con family members, a couple of progressive friends and even a socialist.
I guess the message is still persuasive even with my brash delivery, thank God.

7 conversions total. 4 family

7 conversions total. 4 family members and 3 friends.

Chalk me up for....

About a dozen or so family, friends & coworkers. I'm relentless and I am pretty persuasive and I'm just getting started. Also I'm vice-chairman of my counties republican branch so I'm working the inside and the outside.

Bravo

Bravoseis! You're KAATN (Kicking a** and taking names). Love hearing about it.

Rand Paul thinks these wars

Rand Paul thinks these wars are justified, and he thinks the war on terror is a real thing that needs to be won.

He's either really dumb, or a sellout. Nothing like his father.

That is YOUR

simplified version of what he said.

*I* have awakened only one family member--

no friends, ever.

:(

*sobbing*

AND my family member was awakened in part, even after years of my talking about liberty--

because of a friend of his/her spouse, who was very liberty-oriented.

So, I don't take credit, but it IS wonderful to have a family member to talk to.

Spouse and I have been in the same political pocket from the beginning--and I know we are very lucky to have each other--

but I wouldn't call it luck. Honestly, we didn't ever disucss politics when we were dating, so I'm not sure how it happened--

:)

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

1988 (great year)...

I don't count this story as a true "awakening" either. More like a small chink of light making it through a steel fortified wall. I'm sure you've got plenty of these to show for all your efforts too!

yes . . .

Don't be discouraged. Seeds

Don't be discouraged. Seeds you have planted need various times to mature.
