RedState: the youth coming up today have their own hero, and his name is Ron Paul.

Every decade of conservatives has its hero. In fact, I think Ronald Reagan became the hero of the conservatives who came up in the 1970s and 1980s. He won the Cold War, he cut and then simplified taxes, he fought the unions, and he was an outspoken champion of the pro-life cause. He energized a movement, a party, and a country. It’s why many of us flew in for CPAC to an airport named for him.

In the 1990s, for those of us who were too young to appreciate President Reagan, we had Speaker Gingrich. “Newt is the man!” is what one CPAC blogger said to me, when I admitted I still enjoyed seeing him here as much as I did. I am a fan, not just an activist, when it comes to Gingrich. He broke a 40 year old hold the Democrats had on the House, he introduced Americans to the 10th amendment, he smashed up the old, destructive welfare system, and he cut spending to the point that the national debt went down.

Looking around at CPAC now though, seeing the students here and watching the excitement, it’s clear to me that the youth coming up today have their own hero, and his name is Ron Paul.

Neil Stevens Is An Idiot !

If a tsunami wave was coming at him, in the form of political activists, he wouldn't see it and he'd drown !
RIP Mr. Stevens !

Where's the betadine scrub?

I think I need to wash off the germs from that site full of country club douche bags.

Obviously, the only people that support RP are stupid college kids. What a joke!

We'd get farther with Progressives. Maybe Nader was right?

I made the mistake of

I made the mistake of clicking the link. Commentary started out fairly positive, but revealed its idiocy toward the end. Review of the comments below cleared up any impression I may have had that there was any hope for any member of that site. Don't bother they are all a bunch of ignoramuses drinking the neocon Koolaid.

It's getting harder and

It's getting harder and harder for the establishment media to ignore Ron Paul.

The more diverse we present ourselves, the more credible Ron Pau

The more diverse we present ourselves, the more credible Ron Paul (and his message) becomes.

The LAST thing the powers that be is for a cross-section of US citizens screaming for lesser government: young, middle-age, old, vets, professors, business people, white, black, asian, hispanic, etc.

When we finally present such a cross section, we will win.

Until then, they can easily dismiss us as white racists.

We're also anti-semitic

because we actively want to cut foreign aide to Israel.

The media will continue to label us fringe no matter what cross section we get. We've disproven the racist reputation with diversity before, your own assumption that we need more diversity is proof that those efforts failed.

Check out this video and the comments:

The answer isn't concentrated attempt at diversity, but to just get so big we can no longer be ignored or marginalized.

Yes and the GOP

had better realize that the youth and the thinking, common sense person is only going to support Ron Paul. So get him in as your guy or be prepared to lose big time again in 2012.
Wake up GOP - the youth are needed. In every revolution the youth are involved (and they need to be involved) I still would love to see RP split from the GOP to run third party for the common sense crowd, non interventionists.

RP 2012

lol absolutely pathetic ...

lol absolutely pathetic ... they ban members off the site if they disagree with you ... bottom line is .. all that site is .. is a neo nazi love fest .. they know absolutely zero about history ... zero about conservatism ... because they decided somewhere along the line .. that REAL CONSERVATIVES like BARRY GOLDWATER weren't electable ... so they moved on to the George Romneys and the George Bushes and the Richard Nixons ...

Conservatives gave up on conservatism ... losers ... they use the word as a catch phrase label pretending they are any different than the democrats ...

ELECTABLE ... hah! disgraceful excuse for sacrificing america on the altar of socialism

All paper money eventually returns to its real intrinsic value, zero. - Voltaire

I be banned.

I have been active on the internets since it consisted of "mailing lists" and "newsgroups" on USENET and DARPANET, and there were about 50,000 of us online. I have been banned from exactly one discussion group: redstate.com. I lasted only a day. You know my style. I only talk about ideas, never other members, not even indirectly. I try never to use the word "you." I wish I had saved the posts. Even knowing redstate's reputation, I was amazed that they got me banned.

"Fully half the quotations found on the internet are either mis-attributed, or outright fabrications." - Abraham Lincoln

the reasoning is to keep the "echo chamber" going, so that members hear only the Party Line, and never see dissent, so they can reassure themselves that they are a "majority".
Socialist types like neocons always love to be "on a bandwagon" with a mob.

Wow. I guess if old fogeys like this guy

with their inaccurate information and confusion want to lay down their swords and concede defeat - that's a win - no matter how condescendingly they surrender.

Not for nothing, but college students today know a great deal about debt -thanks to the policies of this man's heroes.

good to see redstate posting something half-positive.

Thanks Bobby.

Synopsis of the article

Ron Paul is wrong.

Kids are idiots and worship Paul despite his lunacy.

Kids are the future, we have to deal.

Ron Paul is still wrong.

Neocons and Liberals are both alike in this regard

Just because their elders trapped their generation in the momentum of explosive government growth, and marred them with false edicts of moral authority, does not give them the right to perpetuate the cycle and throw the hard choices they shirked on our generation.

It is the primary delusion that neocons excel at, feeding the media the lie that all the youth is hopelessly liberal and in love with big government. And in turn, the liberals like MoveOn.org have bought into this, as if it were all arranged that this generation would be fooled into the same way of thinking again.

I'm tired of it. I'm tired of seeing my friends my age brainwashed by liberals because these idiots at RedState and MoveOn wish to hold onto the paradigms of yesterday. In this regard, they are no better than the oligarchs of industry that they so despise for falling behind the curve and the media they declare to be biased against them. The days of kicking the can are over.

The article says this too, and positive it is not

"To the young people wearing Campaign for Liberty stickers, Ron Paul isn’t the porker who hasn’t accomplished anything in his long DC career but to spin conspiracy theories about the Federal Reserve. He is the idea of small government, respect for the Constitution, and a stable economy. It doesn’t matter that his monetary ideas would be a disaster for every American with a mortgage – not just all Americans who got in over their heads, but all Americans with debt – because that doesn’t matter yet to college kids. The details don’t matter; it’s the spirit that counts."

10-15 million more voters need to believe in non-interventionism (liberty) at home and abroad to change America. Minds changed on Syria. Minds changing on privacy. "Printing money" is part of the dialogue. Win minds through focus, strategy.

Somebody actually wrote that? Wow...

Where's that Billy Madison clip when you need it...?

I'm sorry, I must have read this wrong

This seems to be an article from RedState.com about Ron Paul that is positive.?.?.?

It must be backwards day or something.

You think that was positive?

I think you had better go and re-read that. He basically slams everything Ron Paul stands for and calls him a porker. Doesn't sound positive to me.

Thanks Brent

I just read the post and the bolded text and thought something positive was being said. I'm glad it isn't backwards day.

Thanks again. I read the whole thing now.

This was so interesting

The whole tone is one of resignation that Ron Paul will be the new hero of the Republican Party.... and "they"... the old farts, will just have to start dealing with that.

We've come a LONG way baby!!
