Rand is the man!
Submitted by BillyBoy on Thu, 02/17/2011 - 20:40He has proven, so far, that he is carrying the mantle. "Electability" is a word we hate around here, but he has it. He is a brilliant speaker who is articulate and thinks well on his feet. He appeals to the Paulites and and deep into the conservative, non-libertarian crowd (although maybe they haven't caught on to the fact that he is libertarian). He is a better speaker and politician than his statesman father (Ron tends to say what's on his mind, Rand holds back a bit and acts when the timing is right). He is younger, good looking, and has that presidential look (that we all hate - until maybe now).
I love Ron and will support the heck out of him on this run, but Rand has more upside.

it would appear so.
Are you serious?

Rands abilities are due to having a good mentor.
IMHO that speaks volumes for Ron and I think he knows it. I'm not a father but I can recognize the pride that beams from Ron whenever the news talks to him about his son. I wish I had a dad like Ron; I sense it was about sharing his views and then stepping back and letting his son express it in his own way.
I also wonder.
Father and son. Is it possible they understand how to move in the "domestic enemies" territory? As in, instead of them being "duplicates", Rand seems to "side" with the "average" American's views to "continually" keep getting his foot in the door? The apple does not fall far from the tree...
Rand is playing the neo's.
Ron is savvy. He has been teaching us to keep consistent pressure on in some form. Consistent is the key. He leads by example. His timing of events, books...
I believe Ron will run in 2012 and Rand in 2016. The consistent pressure strategy is Ron's legacy in these later years.
I'd rather Rand ran in 2028...
...after President Johnson retires.
Wow! It just occurred to me: I am now able to think the name "President Johnson" with hope and affection, rather than scorn and contempt. It's been a long long time...
"Hey hey LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?"
& another thing... Try saying "I'd rather Rand ran" three times real fast.

In Rand's case specifically, it's far more a matter of timing
than it is a matter of oratory skill.
In his prime
Go back and watch the debate between Ron and the Fed Governor. When the good doc was in his prime, he was really sharp.
Show some respect.
I showed disrespect?
Ever see Ron on Morton Downey Jr? Rand doesn't have stuff like that in his past. They would have a hard time painting Rand in a bad way.
I love Ron. I show him mucho respect.
yes
There is no need for this comparison thread. Both are fulfilling their respective purposes as the good Lord sees fit.
btw... I love Rand too!
Clint there is no greater thing for a father.
Compliments such as these given to RAND is the greatest compliment you could possibly give to RON and CAROL.
RAND as a high school student stood in for Ron and debated Phil Graham for the US Senate seat in Texas and by all accounts beat his @ss.
Ron and Carol should have known then and must be living in total bliss watching the success of all five of their children.
I only hope my kids can achieve as much.
.
BillyBoy, I told Rand this in person in 2009 in Rosenberg, Texas
RAND is a much better speaker than his DAD... And that is saying a lot because Ron is probably the best communicator that I have known given the complexity he is able to convey to his audiences.
Clearly RON did a great job raising RAND up in his own image and helped him exceedingly to overcome and surpass even what he himself has been able to accomplish.
In 30 years I suspect that The Paulonian era will have surpassed even the Jacksonian era in American history thanks to Ron and Carol Paul and their children and children's children.
Audit the Fed, End the Fed, KILL THE CENTRAL BANK!
.
Yup
Good take.
Not really for 2012.
He speaks well enough, but a 2012 Presidential announcement is quite a bit too much to signal that he never really cared about at least serving Kentucky's interests at least for a short time.
Let him kill Cap and Trade AT LEAST first.
didn't stop Hillary Clinton OR Obama
somehow people have very short attention spans when "one of their own" is up in the national spotlight. All of the sudden they start rooting for the home team player to make the big league (if you know what I mean).
Just extract H. Clinton's foundation funding from her timeline.
She was marked to run for Prez, hell, she freaking brokered the deal for Obama to go ahead and take Presidency, while she assumed one of the most powerful cabinet positions on this planet. Comparing pure timelines has NOTHING to do with realities.
And Rand owes at least some real work put in for Kentucky before he rolls on and gets a lot more power. Cap and Trade is a good goal for him to vanquish first.
You feel me on this, or not at all?
oh I FEEL you. But POLITICS is just as you described
with that Hillary Clinton scenario.
(Although I think she really REALLY wanted to be the first female President.)
Hillary Clinton was not even an example of "politics"
like you and I know of it. She was part of much more powerful power elite fast-track. She got to bypass reality, so to speak, and it's naive to compare her to what a normal person should be doing and should expect to do in a given timeframe.
Backfill Kentucky with new tea party candidate
The more popular Ron and Rand become, the more candidates like them will make office.
Okay, but are you from Kentucky?
Do you have an idea of how important that completely defeating this bill is to the state? IT's literally a matter of economic life, or a future of living in shacks for Kentucky. He needs to at very least do one full damn term and do everything he can to defeat that future. A Senator seat comes with an implied commitment to do everything you can to serve the interest of your state electorate. This is communities, townships, everyone there.
I'm not, but I contributed from his campaign
and I benefit from his votes. Your argument doesn't have legs.
sorry...
hate to jump in but all my dad's side lives in KY. It is very important that Rand stops Cap and Trade for KY.
'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul
K dude, the population of Kentucky disagrees with your legs.
Think whatever you want, if Rand bails on his Senator seat that quick it is going to weaken his standing for the Presidency anyway.
He's not a part of the power elite, that means he doesn't get to pretend that he didn't bail out on Kentucky in no time and get away with it. God I can't believe it's so hard for you people to understand this.
Does Illinois feel bailed on?
It's politics chief. Having a President of the ilk of the Pauls is more important.
In most races...
...impatience is not rewarded with victory, but rather disqualification for starting before the right time. Ron is poised to kick some Bernanke @$$, and Rand is already putting his fellow Senators in their place. They are where they're supposed to be at the moment. The time will come for them to attain all the other goals we have in mind for them.
So don't run Ron?
Are you wanting Ron not to run so he can tackle his subcommittee?
I'm simply saying to
I'm simply saying to appreciate the great work they are doing and have yet to do, and not to get ahead of yourself. I only mentioned Ron's position as subcommittee chairman to highlight the fact that both he and Rand are in very strategic positions right now and we have no idea what they are planning. The opposition doesn't either, which is making this quite exciting.
Two Words
Civil Rights. If Rand went for it, prepare to hear those words 100 million times.
Ron needs to run again. He's being shown more and more on TV now, and his message has gotten out to a lot of people. A lot of people woke up to run last time around during the primaries. Just have to keep working and working at it.

I'll say it again Rand run as TeaParty And Ron run as GOP
then when Ron gets kicked to the curb after the debates by the GOP Rand runs for President as Independent with Ron as VP.
!!!!WIN WIN WIN!!!!
I Kinda Agree
I don't think Rand should run at all unless Ron doesn't. OR if Ron runs and doesn't win the Republican primary, then Rand should immediately throw his hat in the ring as an independent.
