What if marijuana cured cancer? Guess what...

What if Cannabis Cured Cancer?

Did you know that new research shows that marijuana actually kills cancer cells... rather than creating them? It actually causes them to eat themselves in a process called "autophage".

Also, instead of killing brain cells, studies show it actually promotes the growth of new brain cells?

Did you know that the cannabinoid receptor is the most prevalent cellular receptor in our brains?

This mystery began to unravel in 1964, when tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the main psychoactive chemical in cannabis was isolated and synthesized by Raphael Mechoulam and colleagues in Israel. Subsequently, in 1988, Allyn Howlett and colleagues discovered the cannabinoid receptor in the brain. This receptor called CB1was a precise match for the unique chemicals called cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant (phytocannabinoids). This initial discovery led to scientists hypothesizing that humans are "wired" for cannabis. The CB1receptors have been found in the brain in areas that control the coordination of movement, emotions, memory, reduction of pain, reward systems, and reproduction, yet are almost absent in the brain stem (which affects our vital functions such as breathing). It appears that cannabinoid receptors, which modulate other neurotransmitter function in a retrograde “on demand” fashion are present in far higher concentrations in the brain than any other receptor. While the CB1 receptors are primarily found in the central nervous system, a second type, CB2, discovered in 1993, are found primarily in the immune system, GI tract, liver, spleen, kidney, bones, heart, and peripheral nervous system. In fact, the CB2 receptor appears to be up-regulated whenever there is tissue pathology.

Did you know that the government actually has the patent on medical marijuana... for use in fighting diseases such as cancer, Crohn's disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and more?

And yet they repeatedly say that there is "no medical use" for marijuana.

Look it up. U.S. Patent #6630507

It's like a MIRACLE DRUG because the endocannabinoid system in your body controls so much chemically... by stimulating this system, many positive effects can occur in many different organs of the body.

If you don’t believe me, check out the studies at www.pubmed.gov … just type “cannabinoids” and “cancer” in the search bar and you’ll see the results of the HUNDREDS of studies that show that the THC in marijuana actually kills cancer cells, both in human tissue cultures and in animals. But… they won’t let us do studies on humans because mj has been labeled the “devil’s weed”. HA!

But there is plenty of anecdotal evidence. (People who didn't want to wait on the government to legalize medical marijuana to help with their illness. We've been waiting over 40 years, after all.) I have been in correspondence with the head of the biology dept at a major university in Colorado, and he's knows people personally who have used super-concentrated cannabis oil to CURE their cancer. His own girlfriend got rid of her skin cancer completely applying cannabis oil topically. You can also find video diaries on the internet of people who have gotten rid of skin cancer using cannabis oil. Also video diaries of people who have had miraculous healing of 3rd degree burns. One video diary I found had an AIDS patient who was ingesting the oil and cut his T-cell count from over 800 to around 400 in just a few weeks.

Rick Simpson has cured hundreds of people over the last few years and has plenty of written and videoed testimony. Google "Run from the Cure".

Clever... I am glad you enjoy

Clever... I am glad you enjoy my login name... No they were pretty average. Now I am not talking about the ones that try it from time to time. The ones that are smoking a bong all day every day. Now even if they don't smoke for a couple days they are definitely not all there. I am sorry but some of those stereotypes are there for a reason. That said I think the drug war is a waste of money that creates violent crime and doesn't stop it. And people should be allowed to put what they want in their bodies at their own risk.

Marijuana is great.

Marijuana is great.

Hang On.

I am all for Ron Paul, and the legalization of drugs, for the simple reason that people should be able to do whatever they want to their own bodies. But that said, I don't buy the "it helps brain activity and helps create brain cells. If so, then why do ALL my stoner friends seem like they are permanently stoned and have about 2 brain cells left? Seriously they all seem permanently out of it, even when sober.

Have you been cooking them

Have you been cooking them your cheeseburgers when they are stoned? Or, maybe your stoner friends were stupid to begin with!

'stupid to begin with'

Recent culture taught the cheezburger view with idols like Cheech and Chong and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It was 'cool' to be a stupid stoner.
Ultimately, ancient healing properties of herbs ain't so crazy. Check this: "Investigators at Italy's Universita del Piemonte Orientale and Britain's University of London, School of Pharmacy reported in the Journal of Natural Products that five cannabinoids - THC, CBD, CBG, CBC, and CBN - "showed potent antibacterial activity" and "exceptional" antibacterial activity against two epidemic MRSA occurring in UK hospitals. "

Rummy & his

cohorts won't like it one bit. They are super rich & powerful from their cancer drug proceeds, vaccinations, scrip addicts, etc.

Apparent inaccuracies limit credibility.

"AIDS patient who was ingesting the oil and cut his T-cell count from over 800 to around 400 in just a few weeks"

The standard T-cell count used to monitor the immune status of someone with HIV/AIDS GOES UP when their condition gets better.

Cutting it in half in just a few weeks would be considered a disaster.

Thanks for your timely post

Thanks for your timely post as I was just researching this topic. You sound very informed and I have a few questions.

For skin cancer you mentioned people applying the oil topically. If one were to try this, would they smell like marijuana, get high/intoxicated, be able to pass a urine/drug test at employment?

You discussed the cannaboid receptors and that they have various functions/reactions. I am curious if different types of cannibis trigger different types of cannaboid receptors so that medicinal users can tailor the reaction to treat their symptoms and medical issues? My 5 year old son is autistic and I have been looking into this recently. He is rapidly losing weight as he is not interested in eating anything but 2 unhealthy foods. He is looking like a skeleton lately. He has frequent anxiety and gets wired up about things and stuck in a frantic state-lashing out, screaming and destructive. It seems mj could calm him and help with appetite, but would it make him stoned and further confused? It seems that if some receptors could be selected and others not selected, in certain plant strains, then it may be possible to get some of the benefits while not opting for the intoxication and head trip. Any advice on this is appreciated.

If he's to the point of

If he's to the point of skeletal, ask your family doctor about a possible prescription for Marinol (Dronabinol).

"Dronabinol is used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy in people who have already taken other medications to treat this type of nausea and vomiting without good results. Dronabinol is also used to treat loss of appetite and weight loss in people who have acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Dronabinol is in a class of medications called cannabinoids. It works by affecting the area of the brain that controls nausea, vomiting, and appetite."

When my friend had Type A.L.L. Leukemia, he got to the point he was too nauseous to eat and he became skeletal as well. The Marinol cured the nausea and made him hungry and got him to healthier weight levels.

Thanks. Can you ask your

Thanks. Can you ask your friend if the marinol had any intoxication at the dosage taken? I don't really want my son stoned or lethargic, but it would be great if he could like food and focus on tasks without anxiety or confusion.

In Montana, an Economic Boon Faces Repeal Effort

Montana Republicans seem determined to pull the plug on the state's medical marijuana industry.

Not new

many here have been preaching this since the day we started posting and I am sure most of them knew long long before DP existed. Personally I have been preaching its benefits for over 10 years.

But never get tired of seeing new people opening their eyes.

Now your messing with big money

Do you know how much money the Cancer industry brings in ? Seriously ? You can clothe, feed, provide energy, and heal the planet with this plant. Now you know why the Fabian socialist monopolist elite scum keeps up the propaganda making the sheeple scared about crap like being a Gateway drug. What a joke. Hemp plant was called the billion dollar plant back in the 1930s. In today's money that is a trillion dollar plant (maybe even quadrillion ?).

The Unlimited Productive Capacity....

created by the legalization of hemp and marijuana would not only save the US from catastrophic collapse, but would usher in a new age of prosperity!

Not a peep about HEMP...

Why is the protest being limited to only legalizing "Medicinal" Marajuana?

It's like the government made all colors of the rainbow illegal and a group comes out calling for the legalization of the color blue, instead of THE RAINBOW...lol

umm...what about all the other colors of the Rainbow?

Until we start to call for legailization of HEMP in ALL it's forms this is nothing but a joke...that is not even funny.

Ron Paul even says: "What about HEMP"?

Are we really that ignorant?

Judging by all the attempts to legalize ONLY "Medicinal" Marajuana I would have to say YES.

the language would have to be all encompassing, one means the other in a movement like this.

I agree with you, the industrial uses should not be ignored for the recreational ones, but I don't think they are being ignored.

in all fairness..

the 1st & 2nd link are identical and were posted 6 minutes apart-maybe an accidental double post -?-on jan 5th this year.

the 3rd & 4th links are different types of info on mj subject posted on dec 29th of 2010.

the 5th link from a different member with information similar to the 4th link, was posted about 2 and 1/2 years earlier - on may 11th of 2008.

maybe just chalk it up to an 'endless september' thing...?
the current post (03.06.11) points to u.s. patent(s) of mj: what i find most interesting about todays post, is that it led me to a history of mj patents, AND the first application for patent seems to be august 16th of 1940!
an added benefit (to me) is a bookmark for all future u.s. patent searches.

I agree & said the 5th one listed wasn't his.

Imagine if every time a wikipedian wanted to update an article, he instead made a new one, and called it the same thing. It'd get pretty cluttered, wouldn't it?

I don't really care in the end, but put those there to link previous similar conversations.

Can we legalize HEMP in ALL it's forms and not just "Medicinal" Marajuana?
