Urgent message from the Ohio Campaign
UPDATE:
I received the following message from the Ohio campaign. Some people have had difficulties understanding what it means, but I suggest you just check out ohio4ronpaul.com and get the details there.
Every state is different, but the way I understand it in Ohio, the candidate must have at-large delegates sign for him, and the at-large delegates (and all other delegates) must get other Republican voters from all over the state to sign for them. Hope this helps clarify.
This is critical, guys. Everyone from Ohio needs to work on this!!!

Don't worry guys...
...Think Positive. We can do this (and I'm in district 6 too, panicking just a little...)! We never thought anything else would happen (fundraising) but it did -- times millions.
Alternative Petitions - Crisis Mode
I'm from Athens Ohio and part of the meetup for district 6 and 18. We are on it. Ohio4RonPaul.com has still not posted the alternative delegate petition. We can not even get a single signature yet!
We are really freaking out down here! We have 2 districts to cover and no forms yet to be signed. Worse is we only have 3 people in our meetup that are Independent of republican affiliation.
We will be out in full force once all the form are uploaded to the webiste. We have been harassing the ohio4ronpaul.com people since last night and I wake up this morning and still no alternative petitions for district 6 and 18.
Geez wish us luck everyone
We simply do not have them yet
We are trying to get them up ASAP

We had our meetup here in Northwest Ohio, Thursday evening. Ohio has only ONE paid staff member, Doug Joseph. So you can only imagine what he is going through. Maryanne Petranek is the Cleveland meetup organizer, and the Ohio Ballot Access Coordinator. Please...if Maryanne says do it, then do it!

Allow me to clarify
This is Rick, creator of that bloody website and a volunteer losing sleep: Call me for ANY questions: 614-325-4655 or email us at Petition@ohio4ronpaul.com
This is not a waste of time as some of you have indicated. The "page 13 paragraph" is referring specifically to the RNC after the Delegates have qualified and won Ohio.
The signatures "already on the petitions" are the delegates and candidates that are representing Dr. Paul. Those pages are not to be altered in any way. The instructions are on the website and in that terrible video I just posted.
Bottom line: We need these signatures to ensure Ron Paul is a presidential candidate for Ohio both at the primaries and at the RNC. We have a week's time. Period.
Rick
Thank you,I have had people screaming at me all night as I defended this.Good luck from Westerville!
FEC
Are there any figures out there on the amount spent in Iowa or any other early states? According to FEC regs for eligibility for matching funds, there is a spending threshold in each state. If exceded that may cause a problem. As of right now the limit in Iowa is $1,486,433 New Hampshire is $817,800.A New York Times article stated $1.1 mil was spent on radio ads in NH. My question now would be,is he sill eligible if these amounts were already exceded? Could this be a problem.

Applying for the funds is not the issue. If he qualifies for funds he would be able to get on the ballot without the petitions that are due in 6 days.HQ sent out e-mails for a mad scramble to get signatures. What I now wonder is his eligibility for those funds gone due to spending above the threshold in IA &NH
I think DanK is right
"I think they're separate things
On December 21st, 2007 DanK says:
I think the delegate petitions and being on the ballot are separate things. He could be on the ballot and win the state, but I think he can only send as many delegates to the national convention as were signed up through this process. I think. I may be completely wrong too, but that seems the most logical thing based on what I have read..."
I'm pretty sure what DanK said here is correct (at least from what I have gathered about this whole process).
If you look at the Ohio4ronpaul.com website
You will see that the forms listed there are the forms required/provided by the Ohio Secretary of State.
i'm getting signatures anyway
I'll a little confused too. But I'm getting signatures anyway because people more intune than I have requested that I do.
You mean to tell me
You mean to tell me the campaign has $18 million and can't get the signatures done for the ballot petition! Cut me a break! If this post is correct the ineptitude of Ron Paul's campaign staff is beyond enormous! Pathetic!

Not true.
This is my last post. Don't waste your time until this is confirmed by NATIONAL HQ. Much rather have you canvassing for votes.
God bless and God speed.

Better safe than sorry.
I'd rather spend the time it would take the get the signatures (it shouldn't take that long with those numbers) and know we're all set than go canvassing instead and find out we got screwed over by a technicality and can't get the votes for the nomination...
The ballot coordinators are swamped trying to get things out!
I'm from Toledo, OH. The coordinators are swamped trying to get the petitions out. I'm not sure why this wasn't done earlier, but that doesn't really matter right now does it? Our Meetup is meeting Saturday morning to organize and get signatures. It is my understanding that there are 4 petitions that need to be signed in order to get the delegates needed to be on the ballot. One petition for the 3 delegates per congressional district. One petition for the alternate delegates per congressional district. Both of these need 50 to 150 signatures. Then there is one petition for the at large delegates and one petition for the at large alternate delegates. Both of these petitions need 1000 to 3000 signatures. The petitions are due to the state by Jan 4th. In order for the coordinators to sort / turn in the petitions the petition circulators need to mail in their petitions no later Dec 27th. Information is being updated as it becomes available on the Ohio4ronpaul.com If you're in ohio PLEASE read all the material on the web site before contacting them to ask questions that are already answered on the web pages. They are swamped with email, phone calls and mailing out petitions.
According to the Sec. of State sight
The delegates are hand picked by the campaign and need no petition signitures. Please use my link in prior post. It is all there. Why was this not explained earlier? Why did you specifically state this is for ballot access when you posted? What is going on here? This is rediculous.

I have just read it and someone has made an enormous mistake
I sincerely hope that you contact National RP HQ so that they can replace the people in charge of the campaign in OH. This whole thing is rediculous. OHIO will have RP on the ballot and the delegates will represent RP if he wins the district. I am very sorry for ruffling feathers, but you are wasting people's time and it needs to be clarified.
