Christians--do you want to know WHO is behind Huck's evangelical surge, and how we can change that?

The man is Dr. Rick Scarborough of Vision America. His mission is to 'INFORM' christian pastors about where each candidate
stands according to christian issues and values.

He has thrown his support behind Huckabee and his organization is mobilizing pastors throughout Iowa to support Huck.
Please send Dr. Scarborough a very NICE, humble email expressing your concern that he has supported Huckabee and ask why he has not considered Dr. Paul.

I believe that if enough of us (especially christians) send him an email telling him we choose to support Dr. Paul because of his CONSISTENT, PRINCIPLED positions concerning the constitution, not to mention he is someone who walks his talk as a believer.....it will at the very least get him to RECONSIDER his support of Huckabee.

Obviously, this forum is not for everyone and is directed to christians in particular so that Dr. Scarborough will realize that he does not speak for ALL chrisitans out there. There are many other pastor's that support Dr. Paul including Pastor Chuck Baldwin. Please send this link to your christian friends asking them to email Dr. Scarborough with their comments. Thank you.

Here is the contact link to email Dr. Scarborough.

I wrote as well

I tried to hit different points. And the electability as well.

I am writing to you to express my disagreement with you about Mike Huckabee. While he talks an agreeable platform, based upon Arkansas, I don't believe he will continue it. (I'm not saying that he's deliberately lying now, but that circumstances will change and, well, you know.......) I also have very grave reservations about the quantity of 'ethical' investigations during and following his term. Why were so many computers destroyed? What was so incriminating on all of those harddrives? I am very uncomfortable with the entire scenario. I'm sure that the Democrats won't be shy about mentioning these questions either.

I am supporting the Christian candidate that doesn't wear his faith plastered across his brow, he simply lives it. Ron Paul quietly does what he believes is right and has for 10 terms in congress. He is very much pro-life, in a very hands-on way! He actually has a plan to get rid of Roe v Wade that will work. Every other guy has good intentions but even with a republican congress, president, and numerous judges, nothing has happened. As republicans, we're losing the majority in Washington, which means, truth be told, it ain't gonna happen now!

The other really critical issue in my opinion, is the fiscal crisis and Ron Paul is the only candidate from either party who is addressing this. We are running our economy with false weights and measures. Our policies are hurting those most needing help. Devaluing the dollar, Bernacke says will only hurt those buying foreign goods. What does Walmart sell and who shops there? Scripture speaks rather harshly about dishonest money and I believe the US is feeling the wrath by continuing on this path and no amount of good intentions in the middle east will make up for the misery that we're causing the little insignificant people in our own country.

There are numerous other good arguments but I'm sure that you can find them on the web, maybe his Statement of Faith or Christiansforronpaul.com or Chuck Baldwin's letter to pastors would be helpful.

I am a Christian, was raised in a Christian home. My Father is a Presbyterian laypastor. I am married (20 plus years to the same guy!) College-educated, Grove City College, Ligonier Valley Study Center, Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology, L'Abri-Switzerland (yes, I met Dr Schaeffer). I've Homeschooled my children. I am adamant in my support of Ron Paul. He is the only GOP candidate that I will vote for, if he isn't a choice in 2008, I'll vote democrat--at least I know what kind of crap to expect, yes even Hillary.

thank you for writing!

This was a heartfelt letter and I am hopeful that he will read it.
Wow! That is really cool that you went to L'Abri...I have great things about L'Abri.
Nice to meet you and thanks again!

Real Issues.

One thing I think people do not understand about Huck's surge is this :

He made a speech to the CFR about foreign policy - next thing you know Huck has Chuck Norris and great poll numbers. This isnt a coincidence. The different groups have Religious groups under their wing as well, both protestant and catholic.

When you couple that knowledge with the fact that Ron Paul stands in the way of the CFR agenda, then Mike Hickabee's role becomes very clear - to distract attention from Ron Paul by any means necesarry. Since Iowa especially is known for having many conservative religious voters (note I said known for, that doesnt mean they do or they dont, its just what the media says), its intended that whatever the facts may be, Hickabee will look like he has the support of "Christians" in Iowa and beyond.

Remember, the CFR, Illuminati etc dont care WHO wins, as long as it isnt Dr. Paul. If alot of you keep this in mind you wont be so bothered by Hickabee and can keep the focus on getting out the actual vote now, which is crucial. Just my take, and Ive been watching how the MSM pulls this crap every year. Is it a coincidence that Buchanan STOPPED talking about RP after he defended him? Think for yourselves. We can't control who the puppetmaster intimidates, we can control what WE do.

Good idea, but...

You make it sound as if there's no political motivation behind his supporting Huckabee. People who donate to churches and church organizations have a way of pushing their agenda, "wrapped in an American flag and carrying the cross."

I believe that Christians in Iowa, and everywhere, are beginning to see that certain candidates, no matter how loudly they proclaim their faith, just aren't adhering to the true message of Christianity.

True

Finding Dr. Paul has been a complete education for me in many, many areas.

I wrote the email. Hope it does some good, but doubt it.

However, I will say, I was wondering, wondering where the monetary support was if Huckabee had all that support. I didn't believe he really had the support. But, this makes sense. Christians don't "give support" they expect to receive it. They might give their vote, but not their money.

I offered to light a steeple on my church, but they said the monthly electricity would have to be donated too. (One, maybe two spotlights) Another church wanted the land my home was on when I sold my home. They approached me about it, but they did not want to pay market. They really wanted me to donate it.

They sent email

...to thousands of people on church mailing lists. Ron could use those same lists couldn't he? Huck's little bit of money is NOT going to last though...he won't be able to compete. He's not made ONE phone call, shown ONE TV ad, sent ONE mailer, or hosted ONE table in NH... not ONE! Believe me I was everywhere and I know he has NO campaign infrastructure.

We need to get those church email lists too.

How about everyone send an email to Dr. Scarborough and ask him for his email lists of christian pastors/churches so that the PASTORS and congregations can CHOOSE for themselves who better represents christian principles/values????

Tucker right now! 12/20/07

Tucker Carlons, is as we speak, shilling for Ron Paul. He is asking Tancredo why Tancredo would support Romney and NOT Ron Paul? He says, your immigration position fits best with his, so why not? Tancredo is speaking well of Ron but said he doesn't agree with him on the 'war'.

Tancredo is endorsing Mitt, but Tucker is trying to find out if Tancredo realizes that a lot of these other candidates are flip-floppers ESPECIALLY on immigration. Tancredo mentions Huckabee BY NAME as not having had the best record on this issue.

But then he goes on to say that it's a 'who can win' situation because if not he'd be for Duncan Hunter.

Right now they are on commercial but when they come back, Tucker will talk about Ron's Christmas ad, says it's the BEST ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I emailed him

I know that some of these evangelicals will listen.. if they are politically involved they are swayable!!!!

You are right!

Thank you for emailing him. I believe his headquarters is getting blasted with emails in favor of Ron Paul and he will have to take a second look.

Keep the emails coming people.....thanks.

FYI, I sent an email

Please do the same...

My email to Dr. Scarborough

Dr. Scarborough,

I just found your website and want to congratulate you for your work in defending Americans against the assaults on our values. As a Christian who sees my first priority as taking care of my family and community, I am afraid that I, like many others, have been apathetic for too long in the political arena. It is very obvious that when good men do nothing, evil will prevail. I am no longer apathetic.

I see that you have a lot of information about Mike Huckabee on your website. He strikes me as a good man, sincere and well-spoken, but I do have some concerns about him that I would like to point out to you.

First of all, his willingness to continue the foreign policy of the current administration is very disturbing. The horrors that are happening to Christians in Iraq as detailed on your website are a direct result of our over-reaching foreign policy are a clear indication of why we should have never started this war. I know that Saddam Hussein was an evil dictator and I am not necessarily sad that he is gone, but I don't see any evidence that we are any safer for it, nor that the Iraqi people (especially the Christians) are better off for it. The Christian just war theory does not authorize aggression of this kind, and neither does the constitution.

Mike Huckabee also outlines many goals for the Federal Government to take a more active role in our every day lives, from education to health care. I think he means well, but I understand that this undermines the authority of the Family and the community (especially churches) to solve these problems. Social ills are not well addressed by a bloated, inhumane state. Our churches have always done a better job at making us better people than the government ever will, despite the best intentions of those involved.

I am choosing to support another Christian for the presidency, Dr. Ron Paul. While Dr. Paul may not be as vocal in touting his Christianity as others in the race, he lives by it and it is apparent in his voting record over his ten terms in congress. He has always voted to keep more power away form the federal government and to empower individuals, families and churches. He lives by these principles in his personal life, rejecting Medicare and Medicaid in his private medical practice, and instead working for free or reduced rates for those that could not pay. As an OB/GYN, he has never considered performing an abortion, and claims that he has never once seen a medical need or justification for such a procedure, even after delivering over 4000 babies!

While many politicians claim to be pro-life, what have they done to end the killing? They claim they will appoint better judges, and hope that those judges will make the right decision. But Dr. Paul has proposed a better way. He understands that the Federal Government does not have the constitutional authority to protect nor ban abortion, and with a simple majority vote and signature by the president, this issue could be returned to the states where our voices have more power and we can impact legislation in our own communities. I wonder if so many "pro-life" politicians ignore this constitutional solution so that they can continue to rally those of us in the rank and file to aid them in other causes. If this issue were to be resolved, we would probably be forced to examine these politicians a little more closely, and they might not like what we find.

I urge you to please take a closer look at Dr. Paul. Many people call him a "kook", and say he is "out there." It sounds like the same unfounded attacks I hear on Christians that stick to their principles. "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven"

I thank you for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Chesley Elkins

Well said, thank goodness for such strength of words.

Wonderful, elegant, very well said. I enjoyed the biblical quote you used. I love the metaphors used in the sacred texts of the world, including the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, as well as other religious texts.

I don't claim to be a Christian (wasn't raised as one, but I certainly respect those who were), nor do I expect anyone else to be (but certainly encourage others by living my own life as I believe Jesus would have), but I am well aware of these spiritually lifting words from the New Testament no matter what ones belief system:

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father Who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16 RSV)

As we've been saying lately here on the Daily Paul, the box has been opened, or in this case there are MANY MANY lamp holders. We're holding our light above all of the darkness for all to see.

"Besides this you know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed; the night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light." (Romans 13:11-12 RSV)

We're waking up, more and more of us everyday. Folks of every faith and belief are behind this movement. A great line from a song, "God is too big for just one religion." - Michael Franti (I believe this to be true).

"For once you were darkness, but now you are light in The Lord; walk as children of light, for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true, and try to learn what is pleasing to The Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light." (Ephesians 5:8-14 RSV)

If this isn't a spiritual movement as well as a political one, I don't know what is.

Religion and government have little to do with this. Instead, it is our relationship with each other and with the Creation in its entirety, from whatever source it is derived or not derived from, whatever may be your belief. "An atheist, agnostic and a Jew walked into a Ron Paul rally, met a Christian and Muslim and a Buddhist, discussed matters of Spirit and broke bread together. A Hindu joins in to the conversation, and many others follow. Before we knew it, we realized what had brought us together this day -- something great than one man, greater than one country, greater than one world. Where did our passion come from? Where did our love for freedom and liberty come from? Imagine where this will take us if we just follow the spirit in our heart, they all said." Spirit of freedom comes from someplace deep, deep, deep. "Look neither here nor there; for behold, the Kingdom of God is within you." Even if you call that motivating force a random chance of circumstance, or don't believe in anything, it's within you, not out "there". Passion, compassion, spirit, spirituality. It's all the same thing it would seem.

I'm SO glad Dr. Paul is humble and doesn't force his religious beliefs on me. I'm not alone here.

Send Chuck Baldwin's letter

All of the churches in Iowa need to receive Chuck Baldwin's letter "An Appeal to Pastors." I sent it to some of the churches in my area. It someone would do that, I believe it would make a big difference.

The Forgotten

.
When Mike Huckabee calls for a return to Jesus and a Chrstian nation, he is forgetting the millions of Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, and people of other faiths. Not smart.

I would call attention to that. People of other faiths have been marginalized enough without this Christian nation stuff.
.

What Mike Huckadeceiver and Christians like him . . .

fail to recognize is that the only Christian nation in history was the Roman Empire after 380 AD when the emperor Theodosius declared Christianity to be its official religion and forced everyone in the empire to become a Christian. This is what Huckadeceiver would ultimately like to accomplish, but he would never admit it. In contrast, while America was founded on Christian (or biblical principles), Christianity was not forced on anyone. If it had been, Jesus Christ and Christianity would be repeatedly mentioned in the Constitution. But, as we all know, neither one is (thank God).

Though a considerable number of our founding fathers were Christian, they were smart enough to know that it is futile to force Christianity down someone's throat. 1000+ years of Roman Catholic tyranny is proof of this! Unfortunately, there are many Christians today in America who are quite ignorant of history, especially church history. And, as the saying goes, "those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it." Fortunately, Ron Paul is an exception!

Actually the US is modeled

Actually the US is modeled after the Masonic lodge, of which all the founding fathers were members. And the Lodge accepts more than just Christians.

Am I dreaming?
