RP's VP? Two ideas.

This discussion still needs to be had if he is going to be considered a serious candidate. I make the cases for Senator Chuck Hagel and General John Abizaid at www. paulmentum.com
»

Lieutenant General Ricardo S. Sanchez
He's a dedicated American Strong on National defense .He took us into Iraq we need someone to bring us out He will appeal to minorities. He will not be a open border guy
Quote" Sanchez called the ACLU: "...a bunch of sensationalist liars, I mean lawyers, that will distort any and all information that they get to draw attention to their positions." another “ The death knell of your ethics has been enabled by your parent organizations who have chosen to align themselves with political agendas. What is clear to me is that you are perpetuating the corrosive partisan politics that is destroying our country and killing our servicemen who are at war.
"My assessment is that your profession, to some extent, has strayed from these ethical standards and allowed external agendas to manipulate what the American public sees on TV, what they read in our newspapers and what they see on the web. For some of you, just like some politicians, the truth is of little to no value if it does not fit your preconceived notions, biases and agendas.

" Sanchez has become the most senior retired general to criticize American political leadership of the war."

If this guy doesn't fit the Paul ticket I don't know who
Hagel wanted to give amnesty
Niether has big big name The other guy has a nick name the mad arab how will that look
True!
This is the agenda of the CFR. You can read on their website how they decry those candidates who are talking about fences and immigration control. Unfettered illegal immigration will speed up their NAU and world government plans...

Brilliant article that explains why we love Dr. Paul:

Whooooooooo
I have never heard that name Alaska is one of the most crooked states no offence .I have been floating this name .I feel it would be a good cross over cannidate that won't offend people that much .Lieutenant General Ricardo S. Sanford because
of his massive popularity in SC.
he also has been working to clean up alot of corruption in the government there.

I was thinking Huckabee...
I was thinking Huckabee... No?
Rockwell Yes; Hagel No
Lew Rockwell shares Ron's freedom loving views and expresses them flawlessly. Hagel for some reason keeps popping up on these VP threads, but he is totally unsuitable to be part of Ron's team. There is no clearer issue on which to evaluate a person's fundamental principles than their stand on the draft. It is flat-out slavery and Hagel wants to bring back the draft. Time topermanently kick Hagel off Ron's freedom train.

was a goldbug, and still would like to see the US go to a commodity backed currency.
Never going to happen...and can he really be trusted. Of course hypothetical questions are not relevant. Let's see who comes out and endorses Ron Paul.
im not sure its really necessary....
Everytime I see this thread people are generally making horrible suggestions, and I usually see socialists, neocons, globalists, and all are corrupt politicians being suggested.
RP needs basically to pick a person just as principled and with the same beliefs.
Lew Rockwell maybe?
Why don't we focus right now on the effort that is the sole purp
ose of this forum, and get Ron the nomination of the GOP. The VP nomination is secondary to that, and right now would only serve to divide a group that needs to be united around Ron's message. Anything less than focus on that is money that could be spent elsewhere.
No to Chuck Hagel. Sure, he
No to Chuck Hagel. Sure, he agrees with Paul on the war, but that is not enough. Hagel supports amnesty for illegal aliens and his record on opposing illegal immigration is weak. And as Jane pointed out, he's also a CFR member. Not a good match for Ron Paul.
I'd go with someone like south carolina governor Mark Sanford.
Why Sanford?
just curious...
FYI Sanford is pushing for cigarette tax hikes in SC

Again?
I think this is not even a question we should be entertaining. Chuck Hagel is CFR. Did you know this? I think Dr. Paul, if nominated, would be capable of picking his own VP and I'd go along with anyone he chooses. For us to speculate on it is a waste of time.

and therefore...
... would make a dandy Secretary of the Treasury.
With Judge Andrew as AG, & Brother Buchanan as Sec'y of State, there are still a few seats to fill.

John Ensign?
Why not Sen. John Ensign of Nevada? He gets a perfect economic freedom score and a near-perfect personal liberty score on the Liberty Caucus's diamond chart index: http://www.republicanliberty.org/libdex/li_look.asp.
The fact that he was re-elected a year ago means that he has some breathing room, plus he's from Nevada, which has been touted as a new swing state.
By the way, I've been reading www.paulmentum.com for several weeks now and think it's first rate.
He's great, but he's locked
He's great, but he's locked into the party leadership right now. He's a few seats away from the top of the senate right now, and I doubt he would opt out of that for a third party run. maybe if RP gets the nom... but he won't.
glad you like paulmentum.com
I'll say it again
Every VP thread that comes up, I make the case for Judge Andrew Napolitano, who I think is the only one with the views, integrity, and balls to match up with Ron Paul.
"Never forget that there was only one freedom on which this country was founded, and that was freedom from government."
"Never forget that there was only one freedom on which this country was founded, and that was freedom from government."
Maybe supreme court
Judges don't ussally go to the White House
Perhaps, but RP really needs
Perhaps, but RP really needs a candidate that can take him _more_ mainstream. that is something that Paulites have to get used to, even if they don't like it. Victory on the margins is better than anything. And when RP goes indie, and he will, he will need a mainstream voice to win more disgruntled voters.
Sorry, but you don't get it
The Ron Paul revolution is about liberty. Ron Paul has never sold out the principle of liberty to get "more mainstream" and he never will. And true Ron Paul supporters will not support anyone who is not a 100% liberty candidate. So I think it is YOU that needs to get used to the idea that we are not going to compromise the message to get elected. And we will not need to.
When Dr. Paul was first asked this question...
When Dr. Paul was first asked this question by Stephen Colbert, I believe, he named two names off the top of his head. Both, in my opinion, would fit the bill of a liberty candidate and widen our audience for the general election. They are John Stossel and Walter Williams.
I like Walter Williams for VP at this point. It would counter many of the arguments about Dr. Paul's more questionable supporters and provide a new appeal. Stossel would be pretty good as well. Usurprisingly, I guess, Ron Paul seems to choose pretty well.
It's clearly still too early to make this choice (perhaps not to broadcast intentions), but I have to agree that any person Ron Paul would accept as a running mate would have to agree with his basic principles.

100% Constitution voting history
As many of you know, Ron Paul has a 100% pro constitutional voting history. I know he'll choose a like minded VP. Where will he look to find one? There are only 1 or 2 others out of the entire congress and senate. All the rest score below and way below 100%. If you want to know how your reps and the rest are doing have a look here:
http://www.thenewamerican.com/files/fi-110-1.pdf
Be ready for more fuel in the fire of your right indignation towards government.
Notice Ron Paul is the only rep who scores 100% on this thoughtfully put together index. The reps in Washington state score a disturbing 10% combined!
How are your state reps doing? Have a day, week, and month ruining look.
Don't shoot me, I'm just a messenger.
God bless Ron Paul and everyone who's supporting him with effort and/or cash.

If I'm not mistaken
Tom Coburn also scored 100% and Inhofe scored 96% Both are from OK but they are both Senators, so that might be the deal.
