"Meet The Press" this week - make or break
Submitted by Mbruckman on Thu, 12/20/2007 - 16:54
I assume Dr. Paul knows this interview could be the most important of his political career (no pressure!).
I hope he's getting well-prepared - do a good job, paid staff!! - Russert will hone in on the parts of Mr. Paul's philosophy that appears as "fringe" from the outside (wholesale gutting of potentially popular federal programs, race-based questions designed to create division, the view of US foreign policy as "imperialistic" from the rest of the world causing us more harm than good).
Make sure you have him prepared with logical answers and a positive vision - and these views will become more mainstream.
Good luck Dr. Paul!

I'm really not worried one
I'm really not worried one bit about the Meet the Press interview. Ron Paul will do just fine.
The only piece of advice I could give RP, is to keep things simple. He has the tendency to speak too scholarly (which I enjoy) but I'm afraid that most people would have a hard time understanding his stances, especially on those of the economy.
It took me hours upon hours of reading and watching videos online to understand exactly everything Ron Paul speaks about. Now I "get it", and love it.
It's amazing because I used to be a Democrat but after learning online about all of Ron Paul's stances, my idea of government completely changed.
Thanks Dr. Paul for straightening things out for me!
This is really a movement and it's here to last a very long time!!!!!!
A Walkover
.
If Tim Russert ever threw a fastball I was not aware of it. He wants his guests to like him, so it's "Hi-how-are-you kind of talk," with some pretty good questions. This will be a working vacation for RP.
Now if the interviewer was Mike Wallace I would be a little concerned. Same with Sean Hannity and other reporters with fangs. They like blood in the water.
But Tim? A Buffalo kid who made good and who is still a little amazed at it all. This will be a good, fairly kind, interview. That's my bet.
.
Prepare?
Suggesting that Ron Paul should prepare to discuss liberty and the Constitution is like suggesting that the rain needs to prepare to fall or the wind needs to prepare to blow. We are talking force of nature here.
There is no Breaking Point
There will be no breaking point. If Ron Paul won the nomination, the press would attack him more to ensure an establishment democrat wins.
As long as we keep working for Ron Paul he will keep working for us.
We should not expect to see any change from the Old Media and its lap dogs. The will tow their line until he is sworn into office, and everyday afterwards.
Dont look for anything to change in what spews out of your TV.
Liberty = Responsibility
Liberty = Responsibility
every battle is crucial now
I keep thinking, allright here comes the tipping point, but it continues to elude us. I agree with you about this coming interview, but I thought the same thing about the TeaParty. I guess we won't really know until January 3rd, but even then the fight will go on. It is not going to get easy. We have a lot of work to do.
I agree...
Even considering all the intervews he went through tuesday, he still looked well rested for the Beck piece... don't worry, he'll be fine... and nothing they attack him on will stick (our doctor is like regan in that sense... only better).

Has he failed yet?
All these interviewers try to find a chink in RP's fortress (not out of bias, it's their job to do that to anyone they interview), but they can never break him. He always explains his position in a clear, concise, and intelligent manner, in such a way that every interview adds to his lead instead of knocking him bac (for an example of the latter, see Giuliani's Meet the Press interview)
In short, he's gonna knock it out of the park as always.
"Never forget that there was only one freedom on which this country was founded, and that was freedom from government."
"Never forget that there was only one freedom on which this country was founded, and that was freedom from government."
You want him to prepare?
He's done nothing but spent his life studing and explaining these policies. It seems to me he has to dumb things down when talking to reporters so they understand him.
Dr. Paul is different, he needs no preparation because he's...
...HONEST! It's real simple when you speak form the heart! We need to court controversy because Ron Paul will win everytime!
He is not politically correct, he's honest! People need to get used to it, because even fanactic Ron Paul supporters seem to forget this!
This is why MLK Day is important as a money bomb day... It's not so much about the money any more, it's about the issues, and we now know the media won't just cover us because we raise money. We need to court controversy to get attention! The media loves a train wreck and they'll think Ron Paul will fall into their trap...but he'll only shine brighter!!!

had to bump myself!
Tim Russert isn't very bright!
Rarely does he ever come out with a question that is truly "politically incorrect" or informative...Vastly over-rated in his field....
Ron Paul'08
I Like
when they try to corner RP on his "fringe" beliefs. Because he never fails to explain his views clearly and concisely. He leaves people thinking, "What a great idea, wonder why I never heard that before?"
As long as Russert lets him answer the questions, he'll do just fine.
