Attracting the Buddhists you know (or anyone) to the Revolution

1 vote

Just re-read this quote and found it to be amazingly perfect for our revolution. Let me know what you think!

Do not believe what you have heard.
Do not believe in tradition because it is handed down many generations.
Do not believe in anything that has been spoken of many times.
Do not believe because the written statements come from some old sage.
Do not believe in conjecture.
Do not believe in authority or teachers or elders.
But after careful observation and analysis, when it agrees with reason and it will benefit one and all, then accept it and live by it.

~BUDDHA

Last night, I shared this quote with a Buddhist couple I am friends with and that I have been working on getting to vote for Paul for some time now. And after a long conversation they both firmly told me that they would vote for Ron Paul! Yes! Well, if this helps anyone else, then even better. Everyone has their own way of "waking up" to the truth we just have to be creative on how to "nudge" them in their sleep. Well, I am off to dissect John Edwards to give a big wake up call to one of my neighbors. One person at at time.

WILDFIRE!

Don't know about Buddhists but...

Some good campaign materials in Spanish, Arabic and Chinese might be useful.

I was trying to reach my rolfing (deep tissue massage) therapist

and one of the things I said, that seemed to have the most impact...and really got the therapist to question me, was when I said something like "Ron Paul is sort of a Ghandi for our time, our nation, and our American culture...."

Bill of Rights /Amendment X: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Do you need a politician or judge to "interpret" those 28

I am also a Buddhist...

I am also a Buddhist, but I don't really consider it a religion... it is more a way of life... a concept...

Religion is going out and proclaiming "I am this, or I am that" - Buddhism is exactly the opposite...

I was raised Southern Baptist and still attend Church once in a blue moon when I am home for the holidays...

I guess that makes me a Southern Baptist Buddhist... I have a lot of Buddhist friends and they all support Ron Paul...

im a Buddhist....

Of all the religions I've had to study, Buddhism by far speaks the most truth to me. There are a lot of parallels with what RP says and with the Buddhist teachings.....

some Buddhists believe that Jesus was a great bodhisattva (enlightened one) so this makes sense.....

And now the obvious

Well, I don't know how to do it, or I would. Someone get a Buddhists for Ron Paul page up and going.

Yes

Absolutely. I just failed myself. Said she was voting for Hillary and hoped we could still be friends!!

I have had similar experiences with Hillary folks

But we have converted some. My wife was actually really into Hillary at first but now is voting for Paul. This is because she was excited about a female president. That is it. And you know what else that is the extent of the majority of Hillary's supporters(at least everyone in the 20-35) category that I have met. They know nothing of her policies and only that she is a woman and how progressive it would be to have a woman in the white house.

I tell them I hear people say, "Hillary? I will not vote for a woman for president." And I say I don't care if you have a penis or a vagina or both, WHAT are your policies? What does this man or woman say and what will they do? This is what is important. Yes, Hillary is a woman, yes it would be progressive to see a woman in the white house - but not at the expense of disastrous policies!

Maybe we need a post just for converting the "I am voting for Hillary only because she is a woman." Combat the notion that it will do amazing things for gender equality in America and the world if she is elected.

Paul will do more than any other person for each individual's opportunities and prosperity!!! We can win them over.

Off this site

Yes I agree, but we need to do it off this Ron Paul site. We love being on here-at least I do. But we are wallowing in our comfort here. We all need to get OUT OF HERE and get to the non-Ron Paul sites and type there. Read there, spend time there. A huge criticism, justified, of Ron Paul supporters is that we stay together too much and too many people out in the world don't even know who he is yet. I've been hit between the eyes with this from a relative. Says we are preaching to the choir. Go tell someone who doesn't know. So with that, I'm outta here.

Add three more to the list. . .

I am Buddhist as is my wife and my business partner. We are all voting for Ron Paul. He is the perfect candidate for Buddhists,

Talk to them about force

Buddhists generally oppose the use of force. So I start with Ron Paul's basic premise that the use of force by one person against another is evil. And government is a tool of force. Because government is a tool of force, and the use of force is evil, Ron Paul believes that government should avoid interfering in people's lives as much as possible. It is a REALLY poweful argument.

I am proudly a Buddhist

I am proudly a Buddhist supporter of Ron Paul

I found Buddhism earlier this year... was raised Catholic.

Great quote! And congrats on telling your friends the message!

I was raised Catholic as well

and discovered Buddhism some years ago. I guess I am an Independent Buddhist, although, that may be redundant.

Same here.

Buddhism to me is freedom. Libertarians should love it no matter what your religion is. It will complement it. Religions hardly ever get into the individual, buddhism is all about the individual and his actions. It is incredibly therapeutic.

"You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. -- all I am offering is the truth, nothing more."

I agree

Buddhism and libertarianism are very sympathetic. I am a fan of both.
