*********************************************************************Leaving the Capitol at 2 am this morning I heard a mocking bird singing while perched on a granite gate. As he serenaded the Goddess of liberty on top of the capitol dome, I nearly wept with pride for my fellow Texans who waited from 10 am on Tuesday until as long as 2 am this Wednesday morning in a hearing room to speak for only a moment or two about what liberty means to them and our future.
A Colonel Travis once drew a line in the sand upon one line there was no security in fact it was certain death. On the other side of the line was most certainly an opportunity for life and security. No one crossed the line. Not because they chose insecurity but because they chose liberty.
Tonight many of those who testified brought up that collective Texan memory by asking where do we draw a line in the sand?
We have drawn the line as our families and our dignity have been threatened.
See the good work your fellow Texans and Americans are doing. Watch this video. You will have to fast forward to the last 2 hours of testimony...enjoy this celebration of liberty as we take the first step and petition our representatives announcing that we have drawn a line in the sand.
Begins at 11:12:00

BTW the author of this bill is one of us!!!!!
Earlier this week, freshman Texas state Representative David Simpson (R-Longview) has filed two bills to try to counter the threat of the TSA in Texas airports. One bill would ban airport body scanner in Texas. The legislation already has 18 co-sponsors from both parties. The other bill would make sexual contact with airline passengers by TSA agents a state felony.
David Simpson was endorsed by the Republican Liberty Caucus last year. He also spoke at a RLC meeting in November.
The bill, HB 1938, makes it a civil penalty for anyone working in a locally owned airport to install or operate whole-body imaging equipment — “including a device that uses backscatter x-rays or millimeter waves, that creates a visual image of a person’s unclothed body and is intended to detect concealed objects.” The penalty is capped at $1,000 per day per violation.
Simpson may also have the backing of U.S. Congressman John Carter of Texas, a member of the U.S. House Appropriations and Homeland Security committees. “On Thursday I met with U.S. Congressman John Carter to discuss strategies for stopping the federal Transportation Safety Administration’s implementation of unconstitutional and unreasonable searches of U.S. citizens as a condition of travel,” Simpson wrote in a blog post.
The bill is supported by the Travis County Republican Party, ACLU-Texas, and the Austin-based Texans for Accountable Government. Co-authors so far include: Reps. Jose Aliseda (R-Beeville), Leo Berman (R-Tyler), Joe Deshotel (D-Beaumont), Allen Fletcher (R-Tomball), Dan Flynn (R-Vann), John V. Garza (R-San Antonio), Larry Gonzales (R-Round Rock), Ryan Guillen (D-Rio Grande City), Charlie Howard (R-Sugar Land), Bryan Hughes (R-Mineola), Jason Isaac (R-Dripping Springs), Jim Landtroop (R-Big Spring), Jodie Laubenberg (R-Rockwall), Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), Debbie Riddle (R-Houston), Senfronia Thompson (D-Houston), and James White (R-Hillister).

IT REMOVES THE REMAINING TAX ON CONSTITUTIONAL MONEY.
WOW!!! AWESOME!!!only
WOW!!! AWESOME!!!
only problem is that virtually all the people in Texas are US Citizens, residing (residents of) Texas. I would guess that there are less than 1000 Citizens of Texas, and probably fewer than 100, if even that many. So the bill would have little/no effect.
PS
After reading the bill, I see that the bill applies to "persons", not Citizens of Texas as this post implies, not none citizens either, but ANY person.

Am I reading this accurately.
Am I reading this accurately. This Bill denounces TSA groping rights in Texas.???
Yes, that is what it suppose
Yes, that is what it suppose to do. Although since these airports where the TSA operates are Federal Property, not State Property, I doubt that this bill will have any effect, even if it passes. BUT, at least if it passes it will have the effect of sending the message to the Federal, "we do not consent".
Unfortunately, a majority of the people that WE sent to DC, as a Representation of ourselves, DID consent...

illegal tsa searches
The airports are NOT federal property. DFW for example is owned by the surrounding cities. The state or port authority owns many airports in other states; NOT the federal government. Be aware of the facts.
But this is the first step...
also see HB1938 which would outlaw naked body scanners
I dunno, but they operate
I dunno, but they operate within state boundaries, and there is a possibility of far reaching precedents if this bill passes and is enforced.

visit this site, especially if you are in Texas. Be sure the use the feature that allows you to contact the entire State Legislature. The will be a hearing Tuesday (3-22) on this in Austin. @ 10:30 AM. Be there. Aloha.
Thanks for the link.
Just sent a polite, but firm, request to pass these measures.
A prosecutor with any cajones...
could go after TSA employees already. While I hope this legislation passes, I'd prefer TSA be ordered OUT of the state of Texas.
hope this passes!
