Michael Badnarik called lil ole me last night!!!

In regards to this post: http://dailypaul.com/159834/south-carolina-public-school-ent... and subsequent letter to congress critters.

I am tripping out!!! I cannot believe it!! Lil Ole Me!!! :) I'm such a "liberty-geek" I even took a picture of his name in the caller i.d. window.

Now if Ron Paul would just call me, all would be right with the world. :) Also waiting on Charlie Sheen's call ;) WINNING!!!

Who will be next on the Daily Paul to "Light the Fires of Liberty One Heart at a Time"?

Hero Worship

Hero worship makes Dr. Paul very uncomfortable, and for good reason: he doesn't want the responsibility. Anyone who welcomes adoration is especially not to be trusted.

I've met Michael Badnarik and Dr. Paul, and I used to work in Hollywood. Try to imagine these people being another student in your high school English class. That's who they are. Human beings with an assortment of flaws.

I think "fame" is similar to a big rack of antlers or any other indication of being an alpha male in a herd, i.e., that our response to it is hormonal and biological, and as such, a very primitive and underdeveloped response.

Luckily, humans have both animal and human responses to others, and can apply reason at will, recognizing that hero-worship can be a mistake (e.g., Obama-worship), certainly as the foundation for a system of government!

Love the enthusiasm, though! I feel a sign-wave coming on.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I don't think it's that he

I don't think it's that he doesn't want the responsibility but rather he wants the message to be viewed as being more important than the individual who is delivering it. Individuals come and go but the message can live on forever.

I was an AA for an MLB player

so I've talked to some famous people before (never mind my boss).

I'm "no respecter of persons" but am inspired by many Liberty folk who have blazed trails before me. Liberty makes me giddy :)

I would say I'm more new to and excited by "the Philosophy of Liberty" than I am "celebrity". I would be remiss to not share my incident with the phone call as I'm an "ordinary person" and hope to inspire others to - reach for the stars....you may not come up with a handful of the cosmos but you won't come up with a handful of mud either. :)

interesting comments--

which I appreciate. I have always been wary of celebritizing anyone, which is why I find myself amused and annoyed with myself for thinking so highly of Dr. Paul. To think that I, a person who has sought alternative medical learning for decades, would be 'impressed' with a medical doctor makes it even more astounding! LOL!

I wouldn't want to meet him; he has more important things to do--

but I do enjoy listening to him speak, which others on DP say is not his strong suit; not a speaker; I still enjoy hearing him speak, in part, because he doesn't really care how he sounds--

I would rather leave him alone to continue to fight in congress--and do the little updating videos on what is going on--from his perspective.

On the other hand--and I should address this to the OPer (or is that OP?)--

*we* all need to feel a sense of belonging, and belonging to this 'movement' is an important thing. As long as *we* remember that each of these people is only human, perhaps *we* can remember that people in positions more prominent, in the sense of being more visible, not 'higher' in quality or importance really, than our own, too, need support and, even, friendship--

and we can be supportive and friendly when the opportunity presents itself.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Yeah to have had a teacher like that back in h.s.

His speeches in class on "where do we draw the line" are EPIC. And I don't toss around the word EPIC like others might. : )

Thanks for your candor

Very funny and entertaining. I can't even bring myself to meet Dr. Paul face to face. I have had several opportunities and I get too emotional just thinking about it to go do it. Crazy. My kids have met him, but oooo, not me.

LOL, I was just thinking about this :)

Like I should add an addendum to this post in case Dr. Paul reads it: TO NOT CALL....I WILL BE UNABLE TO SPEAK - heehee, I've met him three times and I totally understand what you're saying. I've recanted that each time it was like someone had just told me to "come on down" on the Price is Right or something and all I managed to ever say EVERY TIME was "We love you Dr. Paul!" like some idiot school girl.

I've met Jim DeMint, I was able to speak and even though it was a health care rally, busted my way up to him to thank him for cosponsoring S604, the former senate version of the Federal Reserve Transparency act. I got caught on youtubes doing that (unbeknownst to me at the time), and it's me full-on "peculiar"....I just walk up, shake his hand and tell him "Thank you for cosponsoring S604" he says "What's that?" I tell him "The Federal Reserve Transparency Act" and he says to me "Yeah Bernanke came right to my office after that"....I thanked him again and just turned around and walked off. Like I said "full on peculiar". :) I just now remembered it was on Ron Paul's birthday and that's why I was so adamant to tell DeMint thank you.

I wind up in some uncommon situations.

MB Rocks! Wish he'd consider

MB Rocks! Wish he'd consider running for congress again!

I wish

He would get Texas out of the Union.

Right now.

You are one of the hardest working activists in the movement you deserve some recognition.

Well that is so cool. What

Well that is so cool. What did he say, for crying out loud? Tell us more.

we talked about 15 minutes and I was nervous so I don't remember everything he said verbatim. It was so weird because the phone rang and I said to my husband jokingly, "That's Michael Badnarik" and sure enough my husband passed the phone and said "It is" (and he wasn't answering it, he's the "quiet one" in the relationship so, we hyperventilated a bit and the phone became a hot potato to answer). Freak out!!

He told me he was proud of me for taking a principled stand. He encouraged me to keep at fighting for Liberty. He told a few stories about how "ordinary people do extra-ordinary things". He stated that if everyone would just fight the "tiny injustices" as I did, that we'd have this mess turned around in a jiffy.

I told him I thought maybe I had gone over the top in charging the government with violation of 8 out of 10 of the Bill of Rights and he said "When is it ever too much for Liberty?" or something along those lines.

This tops Steve Dore patting me on the head and saying "Nice Hat" back in 2010 at a TeaParty event in Greenville. Sorry Steve but someone else has taken your place!! ;)

Just to be clear

Michael did not randomly and mystically call me. I had forwarded him my e-mail to my congress critters regarding my experience. Since "I did not comply period!", I thought it may amuse MB. Apparently it did. :)

Michael Badnarik - NO, I WILL NOT COMPLY! PERIOD
