Ron Paul Sets Congressional Hearing on U.S. Mint Gold, Silver, Bullion Programs

RENO, NV -

Longtime gold standard advocate, Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, has scheduled an April 1 hearing of his U.S. House Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy to examine the bullion programs at the U.S. Mint.

Last week Paul introduced H.R. 1098, the Free Competition in Currency Act of 2011, that would repeal legal tender laws in order to prohibit taxation on gold, silver, platinum, palladium and rhodium bullion. The bill has been referred to the House Committees on Financial Services, Ways and Means, and Judiciary.

Anybody Have Any Idea Exactly What Dr. Paul Is Going To Bring Up

It's very possible that Dr. Paul could suggest American coins be minted with "No" stamped value on them, only a guaranteed weight.
Please consider the implications of Silver/Gold/Copper/Bronze/Brass/etc. coins without a stamped value.

It would mean these coins could compete with federal reserve notes in the market place, because they too would have a "Floating" value !

Go Ron Paul ! ! ! If that ever passes it would be the first step in bringing back honest money !

I'm really excited

about this one!

Has he..

or will he propose an amendment to the Constitution to include platinum, palladium and rhodium bullion??? Just curious because I think this would be the proper way to go about this...

Kitco

I'm surprised that Kitco didn't report anything on this, they
are usually on top of issues dealing with Gold, Silver, and other metals.

Agreed

However, Kitco deals with this news also or anything that
will effect the Metals Market. Seeing that Rep. Paul now
over sees the minting of coinage, and the value there of,
Kitco should have been keeping an eye out for that.

This is just the announcement of the hearing.

I suspect they will report on the outcome if it is noteworthy.

I just hope Dr. Paul doesn't drone on and instead actually ASKS questions designed to grill those who need grilling.

Stark answers to pointed questions are needed.

I'm curious, is there some bit of legislation he has up his sleeve that will be a part of the hearing?

Ron Paul has mentioned how repealing...

legal Tender laws would be a good start to returning to sound money.

May fortune favour the foolish.

Competing currency...this can really happen.

This is such good news!

Last I checked, I didn't think the U.S. Mint was coining

palladium or rhodium. Is ANYONE coining rhodium?

Anyway, I hope he entertains expanding the program to fractional silver, and maybe even copper.

I would also hope he investigates minting gram based coins with no face value, only weight and purity.

A few places...

that I have seen online are minting Rhodium coins...
