This is not an April Fool's Day joke. Japanese authorities stated:

Fukushima Workers Threatened by Heat Bursts; Sea Radiation Rises

Japan’s damaged nuclear plant may be in danger of emitting sudden bursts of heat and radiation, undermining efforts to cool the reactors and contain fallout.

The potential for limited, uncontrolled chain reactions, voiced yesterday by the International Atomic Energy Agency, is among the phenomena that might occur, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano told reporters in Tokyo today. The IAEA “emphasized that the nuclear reactors won’t explode...”

Three workers at a separate Japanese plant received high doses of radiation in 1999 from a similar nuclear reaction, known as ‘criticality.’ Two of them died within seven months.

Fukushima Reactors to Be Entombed in Concrete Mar 31, 2011, 2:12 AM

After a 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami on March 11 crippled the Fukushima Daiichi nuke plant, the Japanese government has finally conceded it has lost the battle to contain radiation at four of the plant’s reactors and they will be closed down.

Details of what that will entail have yet to be revealed, but according to Bloomberg, Japanese officials are looking at ways of entombing the Fukushima reactors in concrete.

The government hasn’t ruled out pouring concrete over the whole facility as one way to shutting it down, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said at a press conference today in Tokyo.

Concrete Pumps to Fukushima 01 April 2011

Four more concrete pumping trucks are on their way to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant to help the effort to maintain fuel ponds.

Having overheated and suffered serious drops in water level, the used fuel ponds in the upper parts of damaged units 1, 3 and 4 were refilled by a number of ad-hoc means.

  • First came ineffective drops by helicopter
  • Next was spraying from fire trucks.
  • Brought closer to control with the arrival of Hyper Rescue and Super Pump Truck from the Tokyo Fire Department
  • but, it was an extra-large concrete pumping machine that has been most effective, particularly at unit 4 where steelwork obstructs spraying from the ground.

------------- Pyramid & Other Gigantic Tombs -------------

Somewhat akin to pyramid & other gigantic tombs around the world, concrete will distance the living from death. It will keep innocents & villains away from the most dangerous immediate vicinity. There is no known safe solution.

Fish mongers will ply their trade many kilometers away.

Doomsday Scenario 2.0

With the decision to entomb four Fukushima reactors in concrete, Tokyo Electric (TEPCO) is moving the disaster into uncharted waters. The heat producing fuel rods cannot be turned off. Concrete will insulate the heat from the fuel rods, and cause the internal temperatures to climb. The nuclear fuel will melt down and pass through the bottom of the reactor vessel and containment structure and enter the environment. The radionuclides, primarily cesium-137 and strontium-90, but also plutonium and others, will enter the sea. The human health and economic costs will be enormous.

Thanks, Mark. I guess nobody cares anymore.

The people of Japan were FXXXXX Fukushima lied too! We are being lied to!

This thing is 10 times as bad as Chernobyl.

And still no "c" word on NHK! "C" as in concrete.

You have worked to put together a helpful message.

Thank you for what you did so far.
