Federal government seeking to make forms of bartering illegal after court ruling!
Submitted by captcorona on Mon, 04/04/2011 - 18:06From my friend Cathy Tanis,"I guess I can't barter your chocolate milk for my twinkies now huh? ITS GETTING RIDICULOUS! UGH". (Good find Cathy!!!)
The Federal government is trying to establish bartering private currency of any type as an illegal enterprise in a false interpretation of the court's recent conviction of Liberty Dollar's owner Bernard Von NotHaus.
In a case where the government used conspiracy and counterfeit charges against NotHaus to establish that he intended to mint and illegally replace US currency with a private one using silver coins, the US Attorney is now parlaying the conviction to say that this ruling sets a precident against any private barter transactions which use any form of currency besides established Federal Reserve Notes.
The Federal government also is seeking on April 4th to take receipt of the $7 Million dollars in silver 'Liberty Dollars' that were minted and sold by Von NotHaus.

Hee Hee... best of luck with that.
That's like trying to outlaw exhaling.
Morons.
I may not know the truth, but I know when I'm being lied to...
This sounds like the last desperate gasp of a fanboy club
for FRNs.
Folks, when they try to make FRNs the only game in town, that means they know the gig is up.
Ditch your FRNs as fast as you can.
This baby is going down fast.
So are they saying that using
So are they saying that using Canadian coin in purchasing a product is illegal? Where do they get the authority to determine what a person can accept in exchange of a product or service?
Homeland Security Directives against barter...
...they're written, but awaiting declaration of emergency or martial law before being implemented.

The Federal Reserve Act of 1913...
..and it's "Legal Tender Status"<<< In their minds, not mine.
I wonder how the courts will
I wonder how the courts will rule on this one. Silver is silver. It shouldn't matter whose silver? What law is being broken? How can it be called "barter" when in fact, silver is being used as currency.
Selective enforcement
Trading labor for health care is barter, as well as trading labor for a car, gas, a cell phone, pensions, etc...
Benefits is barer, tax free.
Good luck to them trying to enforce that law
Can you imagine them trying to enforce it? They will need to outfit all of us with in the body microphones. What a joke. Like my son once said to me when I got stressed about how much the government is taking over our lives: "Mom, when a government is dying, they go out kicking and screaming!" If he is right, we haven't got long to wait.
Study some Soviet history...
...it's easy to enforce.
Your neighbor sees you have something or were trying to trade something. They ran out of their ration card allotment this week.
They turn you in and get a couple of days ration credits.
Cops go into your house and take all of your sh*t.
Done.
I think
they are really getting worried that the FRN is taking the tubes.
These kinds of measures show desperation.
What's that large sucking sound? And derivitives?

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
bump
.
Does That Mean Food Stamps Are Now Illegal?
How about newspaper and magazine discount coupons, of all types.
beesting
what?!
I barter with plants all the time: I give them my exhales, they give me my inhales, we both keep living.
I barter with the floor all the time: I place my weight on it, it pushes back up an equal force, neither fall over.
Who is an organization of force to define the bounds, let alone restrict usage, of arguably the oldest known voluntary action?
I mean, will they purport to tax squirrels for the nuts they find to live? Like, a "squirrel income ta"—....oh...*sigh*
"You underestimate the character of man."
What an unfortunate name
Why couldn't he have been named Bernard Smith...
Almost makes ya wonder...
Don't underestimate the importance of this post
In the Soviet Union, there were 4 notable things immediately outlawed following the communist revolution
ownership of gold
ownership of firearms
bartering
"hoarding"
I agree 100%
But you could basically boil it down to 2 things...
ownership of gold= Savings
ownership of firearms=Self Defense
bartering= trading saved goods
"hoarding" =Saving
So saving and self defense (in a manner of individual choice)..were/ are basically being outlawed!
