Trump gave Harry Reid and Charlie Rangle thousands of dollars.

Trump says he may run as a "republican" and yet...

I just heard Rand Paul say that Trump gave Reid a lot of money.

So I looked it up and sure enough, here it is...

Analysis: Trump gave money to GOP & Dem lawmakers
By: CNN Political Producer Shannon Travis

Washington (CNN) -

As potential presidential candidate Donald Trump touts his conservative credentials, a fresh analysis shows that the real estate mogul has donated money to Republicans – and Democrats.

On Thursday, the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics released figures from its analysis of Trump's political contributions since the 1990 political cycle.

It says that the "Apprentice" host has given money to 96 federal candidates. Of those, 48 were Republicans when they received the money.

The analysis goes on to say name the top 10 recipients of Trump's political cash: six Democrats and four Republicans.

Among those on the list:
New York Democratic Rep. CHARLIE RANGLE, who received $24,750;

Arizona Republican Sen. JOHN McCAIN, who got $13,600;

Sen. FRANK LAUTENBERG, the New Jersey Democrat, collected $12,000;

And Senate Majority Leader HARRY REID of Nevada, who received $10,400.

Trump has also contributed to other politicians on both sides of the aisle. He gave $7,500 to former Republican New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani; $5,000 to former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich; and $2,000 to former President George W. Bush.

Trump previously called Bush, "probably the worst president in the history of the United States," citing Iraq which, Trump called, a "total disaster."

------------------

So while little old me gave what pittance I could to Sharon Angle to try to unseat Harry Reid, Trump is busy offsetting that by giving thousands to one of the most shameless people in government today.

And he claims to be a conservative.

Huuuhhh???

Plus he's a tough-talking war-monger who blames the Chinese for OUR businesses going over there.

Maybe he should point his finger at WHY many US businesses leave - government meddling through over-taxation and over-regulation.

Not sure why anyone's taking

Not sure why anyone's taking Chump seriously... this is the same guy who said Ron Paul can't get elected.. yet he's the highest polling candidate in the election?

Seriously, the only reason he's involved is for ratings and publicity.

I thank Tyler too. Good posting.

It seems some folks here aren't bothered by Trump giving thousands to certain political leaders to sway them to change laws for his favor.

So if Trump is running as a republican then he will have some explaining to do.

And if it comes down to Trump vs Obama then I will vote 3rd party.

But at least Obama has not expressed an interest in a war with China (yet) as has Trump.

Trump

Should go have a bath in the Hudson River to bring himself to his senses.

donvino

I don`t care who he gave money to.

I sure do like the way he is stirring the pot right now.
Of course I would never support his policies but he`s a real hoot in the news lately.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people that pay no price for being wrong.
Thomas Sowell

You should care who he gave

You should care who he gave money too. He'd stir the pot a lot less if Republicans found out he gives a bunch of money to Democrats. Including $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel, which is not talked about in the article.

Thanks Tyler

I used that info in my debate with Michael Savage's assistant (see below).

I posted this on Michael Savage's Facebook page

It must have struck a nerve because the minion that runs Savage's page got a little personal as he spun this info in his reply:

"@Jack Edison - This has been talked about before already. Trump was acting from a business interest, not making a political statement. Two different things."

"When you have a corrupt politician like Harry Reid, and you want to do business in his district, you gotta grease the skids a bit to promote your own agenda. Trump didn't create this situation, he just knows how the system works and how to take advantage of it to achieve his goals and get things done. Look beyond your democrat/republican bias and simplistic analysis and realize that this is actually a good thing, and that Trump is a man with the proper skills and cunning to achieve the things he's talking about."

my reply:

"Oh I see, it was actually a good thing that Trump donated to Harry Reid and Charlie friggin' Rangle's campaigns because he was greasing the palms of corrupt politicians. And since he's already so well acquainted with how the corruption in DC works, what makes you think he wouldn't be corrupt, just like them, when in power?"

Michael Savage's assistant's reply:

"@Jack - You completely twisted what I said. Are you sure you weren't a liberal once?"

I replied:
"I didn’t twist what you said, you said:

'When you have a corrupt politician like Harry Reid, and you want to do business in his district, you gotta grease the skids a bit to promote your own agenda. Trump didn't create this situation, he just knows how the system works and how to take advantage of it…this is actually a good thing…'

You essentially said that it’s good that Trump knows how to work within a corrupt system to achieve his goals, and that it’s a good thing.

I respectfully disagreed and asked you why you thought that a man that’s already a part of a corrupt system would suddenly change his behavior when elected to public office.
Then you replied with a red herring fallacy known as an ad hominem attack.
A red herring is an argument, given in response to another argument, which does not address the original issue.
Ad hominem: attacking the person instead of the argument.

Donald Trump donated $50,000 to the mayoral election campaign of Rahm “dead fish” Emanuel.
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/20/magazine/20Emanuel-t.html?...

So again I have to ask, if a man is already ingrained in a corrupt political system, why would you think that he would suddenly turn his back on corruption once elected? That seems like a pretty big leap of faith on your part."

It's great this is on CNN.

It's great this is on CNN. Now if only Fox would pick it up and get to the Republican voters. But of course they won't since technically, he works there every Monday morning.

Trump has donated LOTS of money to Democrats. Check it out...

Maybe it had to do with

I'm not a fan of Donald Trump

I'm not a fan of Donald Trump but I must say his tenacity with the eligibility question is impressive and effective. He gets it.

What a phony shill!

This is a guy who supported progressives in the recent past and said Nancy Pelosi is "the best!"
We can't let THIS be the focus!!! It becomes a spoiler and ruins real opponents of Obama. If we let the papers/media define our conversation, we will have a repeat of last year...I didn't really like McCain, he became a candidate because he was a media darling...later crushed....same happened with Bush...Ross Perot came in and split the conservative vote....Clinton came in with 34% of the vote....History people....I think Trump is a spoiler too...we have better REAL candidates.

I hear ya... At no time did I

I hear ya... At no time did I think Trump is a viable candidate for president. His foreign policy comments makes my blood run cold. He thinks the world is "laughing" at Americans and I think the world scorns American militarism... but I do appreciate his seemingly genuine quest in outing Barry Soetoro. He is able to do what so many others have been stonewalled doing.

I sure agree with that but...

I know several people who are mostly good liberty-thinkers who are now listening to Trump.

And claiming they like a lot of things about what he is saying.

All I'm saying is let's look behind the scenes to see what Trump is really up to.

Because there is no doubt that if he runs and starts spending some of the 6oo million he says he has, then our man is going to be up aganist that.

So any ammo against him we can collect and disseminate will only help in the long campaign.

Don't you suppose that if

Don't you suppose that if Soetoro is exposed on the eligibility issue...that makes him a liar and a criminal and those who aided and abetted him like Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean who vouched for his eligibility. If this comes to light, then all the bankster payoffs and crimes committed during his presidency will also have to be dealt with accordingly.

I'm not sure in what form Trump gave to these politicians.

For political campaigns at the federal level I believe it is maxed out around $2300.00 per individual - per campaign.

But there may be no such limits if you just want to contribute to a congress-person anytime you want.

Call it a charitable contribution I suppose which could have nothing to do with an election cycle.

Maybe someone knows the details of giving money to elected officials.
