Not much better...

Yes, it is hard to convey Dr. Paul in 30 sec, and this ad tries to do that.

Instead, couldn't we pick the core.

This election, choose Freedom rather than Tyranny.
Ron Paul is the only candidate who is running, not to control you and your family, but to restore your own control over your life, to make your own choices, to spend your money how you wish, to choose which charities you want....

I'm pretty hard to please,

I'm pretty hard to please, but I liked that ad. It definitely gets a thumbs up!

Don't like the ads at all

I've loved just about every YouTube ad for Ron Paul, but don't like any of the paid for TV Ads. In fact, I hate them. I'm saying this as an "outsider", I'm not an American but I've been a libertarian for over thirty years. So I don't know which part of me most dislikes these ads. Maybe its how the drip with nationalism? Maybe you need that to sell a candidate, just know, these ads wouldn't work for me (and I would and do support Ron Paul as best I can).

This is the best Ron Paul Ad I've seen (though I'd remove some bits):

I agree

It s@cks - like everything else the official campaign shells out. No heart. This is better than the earlier efforts, but I fear the people in charge are clueless - or the people they are hiring are clueless. How is it that Ron Paul connects to his supporters so seamlessly, yet his campaign staff shells out this tripe that turns so many of us off? When Ron Paul himself sees some of the independent productions on the web (eLIB3RTY etc.), is he not moved like we are by his own message? Ron Paul is REAL, his message is REAL - the independent internet productions are REAL - yet these ads seem to be borrowing (in embarrasingly "wanna-be" fashion) from the fake-style of any other nebulous corporate advertising campaign, mirroring the exact thing that Ron Paul and we all oppose.

It's a mystery to me.

Um.. no

We don't to need to make him look like some loon. Doesn't matter what you think about the CFR, an attack ad on a thin-tank group is a horrid idea.

Do you actually think

you can stop them from smearing Ron Paul with self-censorship? Or don't you believe the CFR is a criminal enterprise?

ok if we are terrorists, as patriots we must

well there are many peaceful people on a list of terrorist organizations, why not make a patriot list, perhaps a list of these organizations that corner the people, and they will be deemed terrorist by patriots

organizations dangerous to American citizens:

1. CFR
2. Trilateral
3 Think Tanks

Beautiful

Consice and compelling- I haven't seen a better ad.

But that man should play the tyrant over God, and find Him a better man than himself, is astonishing drama indeed!~~D. Sayers

Ron Paul needs an ad

that is a full frontal assault on the CFR. Aim for the intelligent people.

Looks like someone learned

Looks like someone learned how to use masks and keyframes in After Effects finally. They also spent the money on Trapcode Shine. Now just for them to learn to use layers in 3D space, and cameras and lights in it, to give it a little more pop.

Then go shoot some video, and spend money on the rental of a lighting kit and use it well! Put it all together and you'll have me satisfied.

And those who keep saying we needs more of the youtube style stuff. Maybe some aspects, but I don't want stuff going out on the air with titles that jump on screen, are unreadable, big black backgrounds, etc. You gotta make everything look perfect.

There is some good stuff on youtube and a lot of BAD stuff. This new ad is not perfect but at least now the logo is moving, and things feel alive for once. There is some energy in it. My only advice would be to tone down the Shine just a bit during the body, and then crank it up to where it is for the final formation of the logo. AND WATCH THE DISCLAIMER SO IT DOESNT BLOCK THE CONTENT, ITS VERY TIGHT in this version.

It is a great traditional style campaign ad

and folks who need to see Dr. Paul as "one of the mainstream" candidates will benefit by seeing it.

Needless to say, if you are like me and love Jeremiah Black's ads then, it is not your style. But J Blacks ads are not everyone's style either.

So here's to a good mix of ad styles to reach all the folks.

We want it more than they do so we have traditional and non traditional styles of telling the country about our man.

Unify

Traditional?

RP is at 4%-8% right now competing with candidates at 20%-30% producing traditional ads, blending in, promoting the idea that he is one of them?
Even if by some twisted logic it made sense, why are his traditional ads worse than those of his competitors?

it was good

It was good. I'm not sure about great. But after the first ads, I'm happy with good, provided they now start churning them out about specific issues. Congrats RP campaign, now you need more!

everyone's a critic now days

everyone's a critic now days getting tired of all of it,
its a great ad, if you don't like it help fund the IA, and NH ads.

"everyone's a critic now

"everyone's a critic now days"

... and thankfully. As long as the opinion is presented respectfully, I don't see anything wrong with criticism.

"if you don't like it help fund the IA, and NH ads."

I support this statement.

Yes, I am and will be donating more to the grassroots efforts…

… far more bang for the buck. And nobody should be forgetting "Operation Live Free Or Die." The frozen feet on the ground in N.H. need our support: http://www.fiveforfreedom.com.

Great Ad? Hardly…

No matter what ad the "official" campaign churns out, it can never come close to the inspiring grassroots YouTube ads that turned me on to Ron Paul in the first place. I find virtually all of the official Ron Paul ads uninteresting and boring. Sorry, I call'em as I see'em.

I dearly love Ron Paul. He is a far better man than his official ads portray. The thing that irks me the most is that with all of the hard earned money we have been throwing at the campaign, that they still DON'T get it. I believe that the ones in charge of advertising for our hero are oblivious to what makes the grassroots such a success. Any REAL positive publicity that has been generated has been primarily due to grassroots efforts… Period.

Ron Paul is perhaps the most brilliant man to come along in my lifetime. But I must say in all candor that he appears clueless when it comes to hiring talented ad people (I have to admit that I liked the Christmas ad quite a bit, and I don't even do Christmas).

Now, I'll stand back and wait for the forum members to bust my chops. But it still won't change a darn thing. Grassroots ads bring tears of hope and joy… official ads make me yawn at seeing just another boring political ad. If Ron Paul happens lose in the primaries, I believe that a great deal blame will be due to the lousy official ads. To the official campaign: Bring In Grassroots Talent Now… Before It's Too Late.

Cry more! :) Liberty is

Cry more! :) Liberty is making an official ad as we speak, so hold back your tears.

time limitations

It's hard to get Ron Paul across in 30 seconds. Most the youtube stuff is 10 minutes long or so. 30 seconds is a difficult time frame. The latest ad makes me happy because it's a huge step up in the right direction in terms of professionalism. Let's hope their next one takes as big a leap, as well.

The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt

uh, define 'great'

I'm sorry. To me it was slick, smarmy, exactly the kind of political ads that the usual liars run. Especiallly the creepy voice and music. Guaranteed to get the remotes clicking.

Use some of the Youtube masterpieces out there!

...you're kidding me right?

...you're kidding me right? I can agree with the voice, but you want to use youtube videos that run 5 mins as ads? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Protecting God given freedom? Why God?

... and all this flag wavering... what did Sinclair Lewis say, again?

um, because...

Because that's the language and logic of the constitution. If our freedoms are given to us by our fellow man, then our fellow man can take them away. But if our freedoms are given to us by God, no man or government has the authority to take them away- they are inalienable.

I know that Sinclair Lewis did not say that anyone who mentions God ever (gasp!) or waves a flag ever (horrors!) is a fascist. Chill out, man. Dr. Paul is going to be our next president.

The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt

Chill out yourself

I don't believe that any fellow creatures or fellow men gave me my freedoms.
If according to RP, something is bad for Huckster, how could it be good for RP?

Do you have a clue about the

Do you have a clue about the founding of this country?

Ron Paul is not underhand like Huckabee

The cross in Huckabee's ad was intended to be a subliminal message

Was not really that subtle

and RP attacked him not because it was not clear enough.

i think

RP got on huckabee's case for being inconsistent with his christian beliefs- pre-eptive war, taxing the people, being deceiving- not for having the same christian beliefs which ron does.

this is why fascism will come with a cross, because you can only really effectively sell evil when you falsly advetise it as good.

The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt

I agree with you

That means that we should concentrate on the message. If we rap it up with the cross and the flag we run a risk that some people will tune out because they saw all other republican candidates selling evil with it.
I did not do exhaustive search, but I could not find the cross or the flag on RP site and I liked that!

interesting point

Yeah, that's an interesting point. I couldn't say which is the better stragedy. Call someone else on their hypocrisy or just completely disengage from religion alltogether? I would say that calling them on the hypocrisy is better- because that will play better with the typical Republicans we need at this moment. Rather than not ever be religious in the least, I think it might be better to just do what he's doing, but then call out inconsistent religious hypocrisy when it surfaces- like he did in the debate by refrencing the Christian Just War Theory.

The condition upon which God hath given liberty to man is eternal vigilance; which condition if he break, servitude is at once the consequence of his crime and the punishment of his guilt
