Ray McGovern Speaks Out on Bradley Manning Torture the Constitution and War
Submitted by legalizeliberty on Thu, 04/14/2011 - 19:02in
Ray McGovern was an Army infantry/intelligence officer and then a CIA analyst for 30 years; during the 80s, McGovern briefed top White House officials and the Secretary of State one-on-one with the President's Daily Brief. He was among the first to condemn the use of faulty intelligence to justify the war on Iraq and is on the Steering group of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity. On February 15, he stood in silent protest with his back to Secretary Hillary Clinton during a public address about internet freedom. McGovern was violently dragged away by security officers, bruised, and jailed.
McGovern spoke with Sonali Kolhatkar on April 13, 2011.

Well said McGovern!
"Hats off to Matt Lee!"
We need more journalists to call out the obvious nonsense and double speak.
Defense Secretary Ray McGovern?
Thanks for the post! Great interview!
NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.
A good man! Great interview!
It's so heartening to know that people like Ray McGovern are/were in the intelligence community. Neither "liberal" nor "conservative", but constitutional. I love the way he talks about the importantce of Article 1 in regards to this new Lybia war. How great to have wise elders like him speaking out for sanity.
Can somebody summarize?
I don't have the time to watch this, and would be grateful for some bullets.
"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford
While it's fresh in my mind: A summary
-Introduction of Ray's background as intelligence analyst in White House breifings, etc.
-A clip from interview between State Dept spokesman and reporter Matt Lee (?) regarding Bradly Manning where State Dept claims openness and "legal process", but refuses to answer any specifics
-Ray McGovern talking about how Pres Obama must be following some other Constitution than the US
-How Bradley is so courageous. Ray McGovern had similar oppty to leak during Viet Nam, but didn't. That's why he works for Bradley now.
-Sound clip and discussion of his peaceful non-vocal stand during Hilary's talk, and being violently removed.
-His thoughts on Lybia war. He sounds just like Ron Paul on this one. It's unconstitutional, unwise.
-True costs of war: What current wars are taking away from the US economy, schools, etc.
Wonderful in-depth interview of Ray McG!
*** which we wouldn't be watching, if IoP didn't dig out from mountains of youtube junk. Many thanks for finding and posting this gem piece.
*** Ray McG is on a speaking tour for "US Tour of Duty: Operation Full Disclosure" (I have to find out more about this.)
*** The most touching part of this interview (for me) was his account of how he "might" have been able to shorten the Vietnam War, IF he had the courage to expose the real numbers/strength of communist north vietnam when he was 28 yrs old. . . back in Aug of 1967. The commander of that time forbade any disclosure of truth which would undermine the "image of success".
Anyway, many more interesting, alarming points are raised in this GREAT interview.
Bump for two brave men.
Thanks, instrument of peace.
But that man should play the tyrant over God, and find Him a better man than himself, is astonishing drama indeed!~~D. Sayers
