Videos Uploaded to Google Video Will Be Removed Next Month

Saturday, April 16, 2011
Google sent the following message to everyone who uploaded videos to Google Video:

Later this month, hosted video content on Google Video will no longer be available for playback. Google Video stopped taking uploads in May 2009 and now we're removing the remaining hosted content.

On April 29, 2011, videos that have been uploaded to Google Video will no longer be available for playback. We've added a Download button to the video status page, so you can download any video content you want to save. If you don't want to download your content, you don't need to do anything. (The Download feature will be disabled after May 13, 2011.)

Look at it this way, none of these Ron Paul videos will be available: http://www.google.com/sea...

Here's a Google video on grassroots campaigning:

Thankfully, I was able to find this video split into two parts on Youtube already. So, before you freak out, take a moment to search for it on Youtube. I post it here because these principles for campaigning are so invaluable.

1. Don't make your issue their issue.
2. Don't get into debates.
3. Don't rat hole the discussion. (philosophies/conspiracies)
4. Don't be afraid to say, "I don't know."
5. Don't trash-talk other candidates.
6. When you make a sale, stop selling.

Side note. You won't be able to view RadioFriendly's documentary anymore:

Bump. This is important to save any videos now!

Easy way to download any video for yourself!

http://keepvid.com/

Just paste the link and click the link to download...

Start Downloading! Here's how:

Let's get many copies of the best ones! Then we can upload them elsewhere.

This program will download most anything, including Google and Youtube and you can download a whole bunch at once.

http://www.streamtransport.com

1 - Copy and paste link of video you want and click start.

2 - When you see video file appear in the bottom frame highlight it and click download.

You can immediately paste in another link and begin another download. Repeat for all videos. You can view status of downloads by clicking the Show Tasks button. They will download into My Documents unless you click to Change Folder.

Makes me wonder.......

Do you think there will be some sort of way for an automatic redirect of the old address links to the new? I know that would not be an end-all fix, but I think something like that would help tremendously.

Hosted video content on Google Video will no longer be available

That's a quote from Google, so it wont be a matter of redirecting or using a new link - the videos will be removed and you wont be able to link to them at all.

The only option to save them is to download them.

In light of all the stuff that's going on in the world right now

This is an outrage. Many very important videos concerning Japan and other important things will disaper. Videos that people have spent vasts amounts of time and invested money will become lost to they're patrons or viewers. Then what about all the comments to those videos? I guess Google just considers them worthless "history".

I have favorited over a thousand videos and I have a hard enough time trying to locate them as is. Now I will not be able to locate many of them ever again. Another giant corporation that got too big for it's own good. I AM PISSED WITH GOOGLE!

At best I feel Google should at least transfer the videos with the comments to another company not just throw the peoples time, money and knowledge base away. To do so is criminal!

My Google disclaimer:

And they do it leading up to a major election!

People are waking up all over the country, and much of it is due to the videos they are finding online.

Just coincidence?

Coincidence?

I waz thinking the same thing.

Google really breached trust

Google really breached trust and sympathy by removing all those vids. Bad move..

Recently MOX mentioned he needed

funds to afford archiving of all his thousands of videos that most of us use and depend on for education of ourselves and others. Watch the video below: he has uploaded over 27,000 videos onto YouTube.
If you can afford to donate to his archival work, please do so; and if you are a tech expert, perhaps you could offer help? Even his equipment is mostly donated, his work is out of dedication, the guy barely makes a living. He needs upgrading of his computer and more hard drive space; even stuff as small as business cards and lunch!
He has proven his value to the liberty movement; please show your appreciation and support:

MOX is crazy/Amazing!

He deserves a bump.

You'll still be able to watch videos there, they just won't

be hosted on their servers, thus Google Video will be merely a search engine for video around the web, not a file hosting service itself.

My guess is they are doing this to avoid some copyright issues. But why the Feds don't bring them down for linking to copyright material just like they do every other small fry that does the same thing I'm sure has to do with their corporate size.

Google's primary technology is in the search, not in serving up content itself. It looks like they will be concentrating on that more.

The solution is to grab every video you can that you want to save, contact the uploaders if possible to alert them to do the same, and then find other sites to host and serve the video on. Then when Google reindexes that site, the videos there will show up in Google Video searches.

sad to learn of this

Thanks for the heads up.

Save the videos, here's

Save the videos, here's how:

If you use FireFox, I just found the following add-on: Video DownloadHelper: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloa...

After installing it there will be a new small button at the top with 3 connected & spinning balls, blue, red & yellow. Anyhow, if you see that it will light up and spin when a video that can be downloaded is detected. Go to a video page, click on the button and then you will be presented with a link that you can click to download & save the video to your computer.

The following websites might also be helpful in downloading videos, but the FireFox add-on seems to be the easiest:

fuck google

this is the epitome of what google is capable of doing to information.

Let's help each other locate the videos that need saved

This looks like a powerful campaign training video. Can someone save this?

UPDATE: Okay, it looks like this one is on Youtube split into 2 parts. Before you freak out it pays to search on Youtube to see if it's already safe. Still, this one is a much watch for anyone wanting to spread the message...many of us still haven't learned these basic lessons.
1. Don't make your issue their issue.
2. Don't get into debates.
3. Don't Rat hole the discussion???
4. Don't be afraid to say you don't know.
5. Don't trash talk other candidates.
6. When you've made the sale, stop selling.

Nooooooo!

That sucks!
I can't begin to tell you how many awesome videos I've seen on google and only google. This is a blow to our movement.
Looks like I have a BUNCH of downloading to do over the next few weeks. I'm sad about this news.

agreed emphatically.

it's hard enough to get the uninitiated to watch full length videos as it is. next to impossible in the 10 minute you tube format. this sucks indeed.

Just a dumb question but if I

Just a dumb question but if I downloaded stuff from internet and saved as a PDF file, will it be in tact? I'm not sure I understand all the effects of this. Does that mean youtube videos also or should I just avoid using "google"???? Sorry I'm such a non-techie but would appreciate further ramifications of this.

How are you saving video as PDF?

PDF stands for Portable Document Format. It has nothing to do with video.

I'm a bit confused by what you are asking. Try again, or explain in some more detail, maybe with some specifics and we'll help you out.

Thanks for attempting to

Thanks for attempting to help. I guess I mean how to download videos??? I have Foxfire. I'll try add-on suggestion offered above.

Try.....

Mousing over the video and right clicking on it. A window should come up saying something like "Down Load this video" and click on that. That should be all there is to it.
