Price increases are the result of inflation

Inflation is an increase in the money supply.

But I know you know that already Mike. Thanks for helping to educate people and keeping your site a place where debate is allowed.

I don't know....I just bought ONE tomato for $2.73

"well, its organic" the cashier said.

"but its ONE tomato!" I responded.

If that's not inflation I don't know what is.

organic is not Bio...you just

organic is not Bio...you just waste your money buying organic

Inflation is increase in money supply as far as I know.

government of the people, by the people, for the people

and how do you think an increase in the money supply manifests itself?

Don't know. I'll let you know

Don't know. I'll let you know if I see inflation.

government of the people, by the people, for the people

If you don't see it

you're not looking.

a clue as to what your looking for

It looks a lot like electricity! Seriously, your joking right? Does someone other than yourself buy your fuel and food? You are probably the only one in America that hasn't noticed food and gas prices going up.

Greed what do you call the

Greed what do you call the Federal reserve being the #1 holder of US treasuries? Its called monetizing the debt. It is an increase in money supply. INFLATION. Say hows that dollar done the past couple
of days in your "deflationary" environment?

GREED's continual faith in deflation reminds me of a quote by William Graham Sumner:" Men never cling to their dreams with such tenacity as at the moment when they are losing faith in them, and know it, but do not dare yet to confess it to themselves."

There is a joint in Cincy that is great for tracking inflation.

Skyline Chile.

It's got the dog.

The bun.

It's got the mediem grade meat for the chile.

And it has some unusual spices like brown suger, cinnamon, chile pepper, and some sort of greek secret spice.

A heap of chedder.

A pretty good basket of diversified ingredients.

18 months ago they used to have $.99 specials once a week and they were a buck 10 on normal days.

I picked up a crate of ten for the family last weekend and whipped out a 20. I got a buck and change back.

And I know the workforce ain't making a dime more.

I rarely eat anywhere but home, but I do like to go to skyline periodically to check the local inflation rate while feeding my pie hole with the local craving.

The grocery stores can add water to their can goods and sell you a box of cereal half filled with air, but if you mess with a coney, people will know it.

I had to vote your post up!

I believe your coney dog indicator is better than the Fed's CPI!

Thanks ...

CPI = Coney Price Index.

I like mine because, no matter how bad it gets, I get to eat the data after it has been calculated.

$5? Hardly noticed the price of carbon. Folly!

Gold & Silver... December 2010. See chart of Nationalized Paper vs Gold & Silver Elemental Metal.

Searched for images of foreign Gas Pump Prices.
None found in several quick searches. USA prices are heavily subsidized. Europe & Asia prices are much, much higher.

Measuring paper promissory notes is folly. Using promissory notes as "Legal Tender" is folly upon folly. The last member of the Ziegfeld Follies passed away last year @ 106. Doris Eaton, I miss her.

CENTURY GIRL, Doris Eaton (Travis), Ziegfeld Follies - by Lauren Redniss

The second book I read this year was RADIOACTIVE, a big hardcover, half-art and half-text, that told in collage, drawing, and summary the lives of Marie and Pierre Curie. That was Lauren Redniss' second book. Her first, CENTURY GIRL, is similar in approach, but this one is devoted to Doris Eaton, the longest living member of the Ziegfeld Follies; she was alive when the book came out, and died at 106.

... The old clippings and photographs are as evocative and loss-tinged as nostalgia itself...

Doris Eaton found fame on Broadway, mingling with the biggest names of the time; I love the photograph of her grinning and kicking her foot toward a baseball held in Babe Ruth's hand. She gained the world but retained her soul--a nice trick, that. She gritted her teeth through the Depression, and knelt before God as age did its best to wither her. Not that it could. Look at how gorgeous she was...

My lying eyes tell me that not only the price of gas is outrageous, but the price of everything else is, too. And the quality and quantity of everything is ridiculous, as well.

It's great that they blame

It's great that they blame speculators instead of their own energy policy. Let's break free from foreign oil, but we won't let anyone drill here.

Why use our own large supply of up tapped oil, that's just silly.

I'm sure they'll find some other way to export some inflation, but I can't imagine it lasting forever. They'll take our dollar, but just give us less in return for them.

Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto. - T. Jefferson rЭVO˩ution

"Everyone wants to live at the expense of the state. They forget that the state wants to live at the expense of everyone.” - BASTIAT

And then they decided the clean energy is Natural Gas. So they allowed the energy companies to drill all over the US using "Fracking" which is way more harmful to extract then crude. The government has no clue what they are doing. There meddling is destroying this country politically and environmentally.

Oh yeah those speculators

They are into everything: Cheese, beef, refried beans, hot sauce, fatty tuna, miso, green tea, gold, silver, copper, aluminum, steel. There is no commodity untouched by those speculator's efforts.

I was worried that increasing the base money supply 5 times in the last decade was to blame. The President assures us it is those darn speculators and not the Federal Reserve. What a Relief.
