Stop Flossing!!

"Hi Thomas, are you going to make it in for your appointment today?"

"I've been sitting in the lobby for 20 minutes"

The embarrassed receptionist looked up and invited me back to get numbed up for my dental work. I overheard the dentist telling her that he couldn't take the appointment that was running late because he was overbooked.

After the general pleasantries, he asked me what I did for a living. I told him that I worked in trade finance and receivables management

“So what do you think is going to happen with the economy?” He asked.

With the tube in my mouth I said something that resembled “It’s going to get worse”

“I agree" he paused, and then continued, "Especially with the fiscal policy, if they keep printing money.”

I was on the edge of my seat at this point and pulled the tube out of my mouth and said “We need to end the FED”

“you know, I never talk about politics, but I just watched a four part video on youtube of Ron Paul at a University in Massachusetts”

“Stop right there, look at this”

I pulled out my blackberry and showed him the website that I always have open, the one and only dailypaul.com

We went on to have a half hour discussion about Ron and how he is the only person in Washington that makes any sense... People were waiting, the hygienists kept asking him to do things but we just kept talking about the constitution, the second amendment, the FED, the IRS, foreign policy...

This is only the second time I have ever seen this dentist and I didn't even have to bring up Uncle Ron, he approached me.

Anyway, this was my morning, and I wanted to share it with you guys. He is in Matawan NJ

I invited him to come on Monday night in NYC, we'll see

My dad is a dentist. I got him to vote for Ron Paul in the 2008 primaries. I'm sure I'll be able to get him to become a bigger supporter this time around. Also, one of the most active Ron Paul supporters up here in Reno, NV is a dentist. I saw someone below make a post about how there should be a group called "Dentists for Ron Paul". I think that idea would be awesome!

Gee. Which dentist?

I live right next to Matawan..

I used to go to a dentist in Matawan..

Wonder if it is the same guy, I used to go to Weber on Rte 34..

Dentists are more likely to understand

what has been going on with the money supply, because many (or most) of them have purchased gold, to use in their business. Don't you think the gold market has influenced their perspective over the years? It would mine.

The American

Dental Association meeting, in 2012, will be just 6 weeks after Dr. Paul is nominated to be the Republican candidate for President of the United States. I agree with others here that Dentist are a good crowd. If the organizers were smart ... they would sign up Ron Paul now as the keynote speaker. It would be a great campaign stop (they pay well too).

Anybody get the feeling....

My dentist too!

I've started in the past year with a great young dentist who is wonderful in every sense of the word.
Long story short, we somehow ended up in a similar conversation about the state of things and I brought up Ron Paul. She lit up instantly and said her brother had been involved in the meetups last time around in the midwest and now she and her family are solid RP supporters.
I'm wondering if all these dentists support Dr. Paul because his arguments and positions (drum roll)....have teeth!
(sorry, just had to. lol)

It's the gold.

Also, it's possible that dentistry attracts those who want to help people, but who prefer not to deal with as many health and emotional crises as they expect doctors to do. Meaning, dentists may be logical people to a greater degree than pure people people. In which case, principles make sense to them.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Healthcare is

the ideal type of supporter we should all professionally seek for Ron Paul's 2012 campaign for President. Great story!
I have worked in healthcare for 23 years and find all types of providers, if approached professionally, are willing to hear the message about 2 things that are near and dear to them, healthcare and economics. My previous dentist and town mayor in Az attended some of my C4L meetings and is currently on my C4L list in Az.
One of my new medical providers in Indiana also said he would support RP if he runs.
Of the 35 providers I worked with in one of my jobs during the 2008 run approximately 10 already agreed with him and were not aware of him in time.
I have another friend that is a provider that takes time to carefully bring up the liberty message to patients if the opportunity arises and is seeing some success as well.
Doctors are leaving healthcare for other professions (college instructors, consulting, etc) due to healthcare reform and we need to know where to also find them.

So gather the likely professional lists in your area and when we get those beautiful glossy slims jims we know where to begin! : )

This type of creativity is awesome! We definitely need boots on the ground, precinct committeemen and delegates to be successful in 2012!

All my patients

…. know where I stand. Everyday I have at least two or three Lew Rockwell or Mises literature out in the waiting room (after my assistant and I read them). I also have a signed photo of myself and my President taken at a Mises Seminar from 2009.

My waiting room monitor plays Liberty related videos (including a video my assistant and I made "Bullion is a Girls Best Friend"). But what gets most of the attention is a Ron Paul autographed ad I ran right after the moronic Cash For Clunkers program started. My friend's father is a

My friend's father is a dentist and he told me how fluoride treatments don't work! I gotta say, dentists are loaded. It would be great if there was a huge group called "Dentists for Ron Paul". They could do their own money bomb for Ron Paul and eye brows would be raised all over the media.

I like that Dentists for Paul idea... Maybe all medical and dental professionals? ... "Health Care Providers for Ron Paul"?

I like having separate

I like having separate specialties. It gives them each their own autonomy and networking ability and also more personalized so they feel their work is more fullfilling.

Cardiologists for RP
Pharmacists for RP

Each one organized by a dedicated RP supporter. Makes it look like so many associations are behind him. But obviously this would only be viable from within these professional networks.

Mr. Dentist, if you see this,

Mr. Dentist, if you see this, welcome to our R3VOLUTION!!! Ron Paul 2012!

Someone here should start a

Someone here should start a Dentists For Ron Paul Meetup group system nationwide. Talk about a captive audience!

the best part about that story

is that he seems to preach the gospel to his patients who circulate in his office every hour.

good stuff.

another RP supporter dentist!

I only know one dentist and he is a big RP supporter. He knows all about the Fed, and even about the birth certificate bond. Believe it or not!

we are the Remnant

Great article, very gratifying

I am convinced that face-to-face discussions like these are the best way to introduce the apathetic to the libertarian message. I've seen, first-hand, how the libertarian message is gaining momentum with disenfranchised Dems and Repubs here in Southern California. Keep igniting those brush fires in people's minds!

good stuff

These are the encounters that really can make a day.

I think there should be some sort of mobile social networking program where you make a short list of the activities/interests that matter to you most. You then can have the option to make that public and when other strangers in your vicinity register with the same interest (ron paul revolution for example) a little buzz or something goes off in both folks' phones. It could have a lot of uses, but I just think it'd be great to be walking through the streets and know with a glance at my phone, that RP supporters are by my side.
But its random, surprise conversations like your dentist visit that are always awesome.

Delaware dentists love the Pauls!

I am one of two libertarian dentists. Both of us have fun talking politics with patients (you have to be careful, though). Delaware is a solid blue state but there appears to be an awakening. Stay tuned.

Where in Delaware?

I moved to Wilmington recently and I'm looking for a Dentist.

lol, is this why you have to be careful?

sorry, no reflection on your patients, but I'm picturing dentist, fingers in a mouth, saying something that causes a reaction, then wishes he or she hadn't. As a Ron Paul supporter I find myself treading carefully because I've noticed that too much too soon often turns people off. I had a discussion earlier today with two people whose political leanings I am not very familiar with and when one of them asked if Ron Paul has declared I was a bit thrilled that someone not "on board" is interested in whether or not our guy is running. Almost like he's mainstream, which I had assumed he would be, instantly, when he declared his candidacy in 2007. Boy, was I wrong!

Awesome! I work right by

Awesome! I work right by Matawan. In Marlboro! I'm still struggling to find like minded liberty folk around me. Only 1 good friend who woke me up will discuss politics at all.

My dentist a RP supporter too!

We talk politics every time I go in there.

That sounds like one great trip to the dentist

I bet you he is a former Obama supporter, no harm there, I may have fallen for Obama too if I had not been awake before he ran. Dentists make great money, and we need a lot of money if we are going to win this thing, so hopefully he jumps in to the real Teaparty, maybe he can start a group with other dentists who support Ron Paul and start a Teethparty. Keep up the great work F-buzz.

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

Accounts manager at my bank brought up RP too.

We had mentioned the widely acknowledged instability of third-world governments (I'm moving to Ecuador soon) when I said I had similar concerns about the direction things were going in this country. She said, "you're a Ron Paul supporter aren't you?" (I think she must have noticed my Ron Paul hat on other visits to the bank.) She said "my son and husband both think he is great!"

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

I am noticing a lot of people are waking up.

Thanks for

The people are waking up. I see it myself every day.

Thanks for posting.
