My NYC Ron Paul ExperienceSubmitted by JerseyRP on Tue, 04/26/2011 - 10:44
Thanks to artistsforRP for a video of Ron Paul's at Webster Hall:
What an awesome time in NYC yesterday. I just had to share it with all of you, it being my experience around Ron Paul.
First I took the train into the city from Metro Park, NJ. Left about 9:15 got into the city at about 10am. Walked from Penn Station down to McNally Jackson and got there just about 11:00. Only a few scattered RP supporters not sure where he was going to be signing. After hearing one fellow ask we were directed downstairs. Me and my girlfriend were the third group in line (about 6 people in front of us).
We waited till just after one, talking to a few nearby people, one being the creator of www.liberty-candidates.org
As Ron came in from a side door he greeted everyone with a smile and the people in the first line got a great handshake. We began and quickly rushed through because of his busy schedule that day. However I did get to say that it was an honor to meet him and thanked him and wished him good luck. (I have a few pictures I will upload later and add to this post.)
Now on to Webster Hall...Later that night I had arrived at Webster hall around 7:00 to find only a couple people waiting. By 8 they had to form 4 lines to keep the people from crowding around the corner of the building. We were like the 10th people in the door after filling out some lame form for the NY Republican committee(some neo-con was there too). We quickly moved to the front with out new friends, a DP member, and a Ron Paul Forums member, where we got right in front of the stage. Couldn't get any closer to Ron.
The First person to speak was a libertarian-republican councilman (the only one in NY he touted and the announcer for the night). Then came the Neo-Con republican leader from NY (not much enthusiasm for this guy, not one mention of ending the wars of course).
Followed by Peter Schiff!! Who was excellent and received great energy from the crowd. Even with his drink in his hand spilling it slightly as he spoke. Very funny as well.
Ron was running late so he did not come on until about 10:30 so Peter spoke until 5 minutes before he came on. Which was kind of late since a lot of us had been spending all day killing time in the city walking around. He spoke for about 20 minutes and got many cheers and a couple End the Fed chants.
Lastly, the new friend and fellow DP member, got his booked signed right after he spoke, and gave out a couple hand shakes to him, myself and I think one other person.
All in all it was awe inspiring to be so close to such a amazing guy. I will never forget this experience and hope you all get to share one just like it if you have not already.
Have to create a youtube account. Tried to embed the vids from facebook but doesn't work. Will upload 2 mins of Peter's speech tomorrow.
