FOMC Rate Decision 12:30; Federal Reserve First Ever Press Conference 2:15pm

(MarketWatch) The Federal Open Market Committee will announce its rate decision at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time today instead of the usual 2:15 p.m. Sources say the Fed is likely to stay with its target federal funds rate of between 0% and 0.25% and its goal of buying $600 billion in Treasury securities by the end of June.

At 2:15, The FOMC will release its quarterly growth and inflation estimate, instead of unveiling it three weeks after the rate decision. Then there will be a first-ever-for-the-Fed press conference. After a brief introductory statement, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will answer reporters’ questions for roughly 45 minutes.

Read more at MarketWatch.

The press conference will be carried live on television, and on the web at CSPAN.org

Trembling Voice

A number of people have commented on Ben's trembling voice. I'm not sure that's relevant or kind.

For one thing, Ron Paul's own voice isn't always a good indicator of the strength and steadiness of his ideas and character.

For another, it's a bullying tactic to attack or tease someone for a physical attribute or something they didn't choose (e.g., their name).

If you want to attack something, attack his lack of common sense, refusal to really answer questions, circular and flawed logic, complete failure to accomplish stated goals, etc.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Why is it not relevant to

Why is it not relevant to analyze non-verbal forms of communication? It's not a form of bullying at all. It is just using all information available to gain a complete understanding of the situation.

Respectfully disagree

He's scared and that's significant. It's not a physical attribute or due to his age. Once we understand who his bosses really are, and most of us do, and what they are doing even in the kindest light, robbing us blind, we see that it's pretty stressful being the front man for the financial mafia. He has the most powerful people in the world pulling his strings. If he's afraid, we should be too and he is.

"Do you want to know who you are? Act. Don't ask. What you DO will delineate and define you." - Thomas Jefferson

he only trembles when he

he only trembles when he talks about something he knows isnt true, only when he is flat out trying to scam or lie. Ive noticed it for years now. Its not a physical attribute he can talk very clearly when he is speaking honestly. Besides when somebody does tremble the way he does, it Does normally mean their lying (obviously not always), its his nerves.

1st Post

Very well said!

I got through!

I am Eric from Dallas (actually Irving).

That was a blast. My comments were:

1) Giving Ron Paul props for influencing the debate. He said "you think this has something to do with Ron Paul's pressure on the Fed?" I said absolutely.

2) I pointed out that the Federal Reserve has a flag, but are a private bank, not a government agency. Bernanke even said "The Fed and other PRIVATE SECTOR" institutions.

3) I also mentioned that I would LOVE to see Bernanke comment on Jefferson's belief that a private central bank would be more of a threat to our nation than a standing army....."

This is so exciting to see these guys on the hot seat, and more and more outlets are being forced to cover Ron Paul, because he is at the EPICENTER of the most pressing issue facing our country.

Go Ron, Go!

I tried to call in to cspan

I tried to call in to cspan but gave up. I have never heard so many vague words spoken by someone in charge. I mean, how can ANYONE have faith in them! Here are words they used over and over : we expect, we hope, we anticipate, we will try, we will see, we think possibly..
It was so obvious. And to think, NO one asked, "Well, what u did so far GOT us here, why do you think u know how to get us OUT..?
It is so obvious from those statements that they are only experimenting and hoping for outcomes. I simply am floored at the vagueness and just plain stupidness of these "global financial planners". MY GOD.

Inflation is an expansion of the money supply. When The Bernanke talks about inflation he's speaking about price inflation. Price inflation is just a paper tiger. Therein lies the rub.
