Three words to fix our monetary system: End. The. Fed. (Christian Science Monitor)

Christian Science Monitor:

Of course, markets don’t demand fiat currencies. Free individuals don’t wake up one day and say to themselves, “Gee… Wouldn’t it be nice if we had an unquestionable, unaccountable, centrally controlled monopoly on counterfeiting to help debase our medium of exchange, saddle the populace with that most insidious of all taxes – inflation – and to sell our kiddies future down the drain? I know, let’s create a Federal Reserve!”

I was annoyed when last summer they had an article on 2012 candidates and left off Ron Paul. This sort of makes up for it, even if it is just a guest blog

Wait, I thought Glen Beck invented this policy on his (non-contract-renewed) FOX program a few weeks ago.

The fatal flaw in fiat

The fatal flaw in fiat currencies is that when one geometric function, wages, lags behind another geometric function, inflation, the gap between them widens to infinity.

Let's see the progressives argue with math!

Three words to fix...

Our health care system.....End the Fed
Our school system...End the Fed
Our Labor disputes... End the Fed
Our Justice system...End the Fed
Our political system...End the Fed
Our economic system...End the Fed

Get it? We can not fix anything unless we fix our monetary system by ending the Fed. You can talk until your blue in the face about this program or that program or this budget item or that or any other manner or issue regarding self governing. Until you fix the one thing that affects everything you have fixed nothing!

Hey FreedomFighter...

you are singing my tune! Why do I support Ron Paul? It's the money thing.

It is not enough to Just End the Fed

I would agree with your formula if you change "End the Fed" to "End Fiat."

What's in the name? Nothing! As I said, the Fed will inescapably end itself by its destruction of the dollar. And if the Congress gets the power to do what the Fed is doing now, not a thing will change! The same people will be robbing you, only under a different name, and wearing different hats.

The best way to end fiat is to allow free competition in currencies, because fiat cannot exist without government forced monopoly. End the monopoly, and you have ended fiat ( i.e. you ended the plunder), because it will die by the hand of Free Market, since no one likes being plundered!

So it is NOT enough to End the Fed. You must restore sound money for liberty to prevail. Free Competition in Currencies is the Best way to restore and maintain sound monetary system.

I concur

End the Fed is a just a catchy slogan so people can start to understand in a limited way. I never suggested that the congress then begin to do what the Fed has been doing since the Fed Reserve Act of 1913 that illegally gave away congressional authority.

Sound Money Now! Should be the cry across the land. Every demonstration whether for or against an issue should have someone with this slogan on a sign.

Labor Protest...Sound Money Now!
Tuition Hike Protest...Sound Money Now!
Pro Life Rally...Sound Money Now!

Fixing our monetary system will cure virtually all of Americas ills.

I concur too

my current campaign sign reads:

It is NOT enough to just End the Fed.

The Fed will end itself through its destruction of the dollar, and NOT A THING will change if you do not take away the power of the government to conjure purchasing power out of nothing and enforce it by a government monopoly. The same people will be robbing you, only wearing different hats, because fiat money is FRAUD, and it must end, if liberty is to survive and prosper. Fiat is fraud no matter who does it, the Fed or the Congress. The best way to restore a sound monetary system is to follow Ron Paul's advice and allow Free Competition in Currencies, which will kill fiat, and be a key step in restoring liberty.

I skimmed it. No mention of Ron Paul?

He is Ron "End the Fed" Paul, and not one mention of him?

That's like an apology without an apology.

Gee whiz!

It is great

that they mentioned Hazlitt, but the article was about Ending The Fed with a comment about competing currencies - done without mentioning Dr. Paul?

Sorry, this page has moved or does not exist

The link above is just missing the period at the end of the link.

New link

Good find!

Edit, it was doing it to me too!!!! Weird! Just add a period at the end of the link and your good. Edit again: Now I made the link to where you can just copy/paste it into a new tab, or if you have Firefox, highlight it, right click, and click "open Link in New Tab"

I think the Daily Paul forums

I think the Daily Paul forums automatically reject any link that ends with a period. Come to think of it, this is the first time I've come across such a link. I changed it to a different link that redirects to csmonitor

Check your link.

It didn't work for me.
