I Think Dual Citizenship is Treason

I am against dual citizenship of any kind. When you benefit from the blood spilled by patriots in the past, the least which can be requested of you is undivided allegiance. The United States is not like any other country, even though I am the first to condemn the crimes of our government, in Latin America, in the Middle East, and across nearly every continent in the world. Nevertheless, it is the greatest country in the world. A country is not its government. The fact that we are now being badly betrayed by our leaders and threatened by domestic traitors to the Constitution is another matter. We can recover. One small step is to outlaw what President Teddy Roosevelt called "a self-evident absurdity."

Roosevelt said "We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance."

For most of the country's history, dual citizenship was considered the equivalent of political bigamy. It is a recent development, dating from 1967, when the Supreme Court struck down a law that forced people to relinquish their American citizenship if they acquired another citizenship.

The absurdity gets worse. It so happens some people are subject to relinquishing dual citizenships, as was revealed in the case of Shamai Kedem Leibowitz, an FBI translator with a top secret security clearance who actually did act as a patriot when he leaked documents which might have been related to the NSA’s surveillance of U.S. citizens, and was prosecuted for it by Obama.

In article on Leibowitz, Politico noted:

"The FBI page on contract linguists says: "Applicants for the FBI Contract Linguist position must meet all of the following requirements: United States citizenship; Willingness to renounce dual citizenship.... Ability to meet all FBI Employment Requirements, pass an FBI Background Investigation, and receive a Top Secret Security Clearance ....""

It is also possible that Leibowitz was prosecuted for being behind the leaked news that Representative Jane Harman had allegedly been caught on an NSA wiretap engaging in a quid-pro-quo conversation with an Israeli agent.

Leibowitz is the grandson of a famous Israeli Torah scholar, philosopher and activist, Yeshayahu Leibowitz. He joined the defense team of a Palestinian activist Marwan Barghouti, and is a supporter of a "one-state solution" to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He has also supports efforts divestment of U.S. institutions in Israeli bonds.

But I digress. The big question is, why are low-level employees subject to relinquishing their dual citizenship, but not U.S. Congressmen like former Representative Rahm Emanuel, later White House Chief of Staff, or those at the highest levels of an administration's foreign policy apparatus like Douglas Feith, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, or Dov Zakheim? Emmanual served in the Israeli Army but not the U.S. one. What does that tell survivors of the USS Liberty?

The idea of liberty dictates that any human being can choose to be a citizen of any country for which he or she qualifies. That's his business. But any country could suddenly be at war with any other country. That is realpolitik. For the privilege of being a citizen of this great country, you must choose.

I am a traitor than!

But my allegiance is with God alone. Every government is evil and I serve none of them.

yeh...

So, you have no loyalty to the family, (i.e., group or collective) into which you were born, without choice? or, maybe the family that you chose to join, by marriage? Can you really just walk away from either of those without injustice? No loyalty to your tribe? No loyalty to your people? Your nation? No loyalty at all...
really?
just G, huh?

Loyalty is not a zero sum

Loyalty is not a zero sum game.

It's just a bit.

0 or 1
There is nothing else when it comes to blood and soil.

You can not be loyal to two

You can not be loyal to two people at the same time? Weird, you seem limited. By the way, what does it mean to be loyal to a government?

But I want to work on two

But I want to work on two plantations!

The least? If undivided allegiance is the least, what would be a modest amount you could give? Indentured servitude? What would be the most?

I thought this forum had libertarian leanings.

When the same "patriots" have spilled the same blood of many innocent natives it is your duty to be truthful of your history.

Matthew 12:25, King James Version

And Jesus knew their thoughts & said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; & every city or house divided against itself shall not stand. This post was overwhelmed purposely to confuse the facts. Still want dual citizen Talmudics infiltrating our government, media, banking system, ect.? By the way, Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees in this quote. The founding fathers of Talmudism.

Not treason. It's your duty.

It's not treason. It's your duty. Your duty to hedge your bets against a failing economy, rising police state, poisoned popular culture, and personal impoverishment.

How is it patriotic to allow yourself to go down with the ship, that has been sunk by criminal pirates? I'd rather jump ship and protect my resources to fight another day. Your statist interpretation of patriotism is so cute. Are you a subject of the state? Or a sovereign man who carves out his own destiny?

The United States shares a rare place in the world - with Philippines and Eritrea - as the only countries that taxes its citizens on their worldwide income - regardless of whether their citizens may never step foot back in the country of their citizenship. That's not citizenship. That is feudalism and indentured servitude.

If any one of you has the resources to go where you are more appreciated, welcomed, and incentivized, you should do it without second thought to crowing statists that hurl cobwebs of guilt at you.

I, for one, will be applying for Chilean and/or Brazilian (my spouse is Brazilian) citizenship, and will be protecting my family and resources to fight another day.

Now, with respect to your comments about Rahm Emmanuel - I make a principled exception: If you are called for the duty of architecting FOREIGN POLICY for your country, and you are a citizen of more than one country, you should be deemed ineligible to serve, due to a conflict of interest.

How in the hell were any of the founders of Project for a New American Century taken seriously, and given the power, to formulate and enact US foreign policy in the Middle East, when most of them were dual, US/Israeli citizens? Where do you think their loyalties lie?

You're welcome to write me off as anti-zionist or whatever other moniker you choose, but I always thought it totally wrong that we would assign a jew to the post of US ambassador to Israel. An ambassador's duty is to communicate and execute US foreign policy in his/her host country, and to defend his country's interests. Whose interests will he/she truly be serving? In the same vein, I would consider it wrongheaded to assign a muslim to an Ambassador's post in a muslim country. Or a latino to an Ambassador's post in a latino country. Or a dual-citizen American/Brazilian to architect foreign or economic policy with Brazil. It's all about conflict of interest.

Hugs from down here in Chile.

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAA! Wooo hooooo! Does that include the native blood spilled, the blood spilled in Central and South America, Africa and Asia too?

Undivided allegiance to this DUMP? To this perversion of world rights? When you give undivided allegiance to murderers that simply makes you an ACCESSORY TO A CRIME not a patriot.

The least which can be requested of you is STOP MURDERING AND PLUNDERING THE WORLD. The most is you try to redress the evils perpetrated by your holy patriots.

Is that because you think Dual Citizenship is okay?
I have not read all the comments.

Yet allegiance to the US Constitution does not give one much room to pay allegiance to another govenment.
Interesting topic.

The U.S. Constitution doesn't

The U.S. Constitution doesn't deny the right to dual citizenship either. so....

I respectfully disagree.

Holding dual citizenship is a far cry from treason.

Different words, different meaning. One does not imply the other. Simply false.

Cherokee and American

I have dual citizenship as a card carrying member of the OK Cherokee nation and an American citizen. go F* yourself

Warning my comments may anger a lot of highly educated people who have been taught a lie

Citizenship is slavery.

Citizenship is slavery.

"No physical quantity explains it's own existence, and no amount of time can consume an infinite series of events to bring you to the present, which means all of these somewhere have to be explained by one self-existent cause which is not physical."

Drudge said 'have an exit plan'

I'm doing just that. I've started my search into looking into dual citizenship. I think it will be an important option in case the country turns totally totalitarian.

Essentially, if we lose the battle, it would be prudent to escape. Live to die another day!

Didn't seem to bother Ted Cruz renouncing citizenship

He's still Ted Cruz. He didn't self destruct. He made a choice.

Whether you agree with his politics or not, he's gone all-in 100% American, that is undeniable.

That is admirable, though possibly for self serving reasons if he runs in the RNC primary.

Certainly he didn't start whining and moaning about losing his dual citizenship.

With expanded laws concerning high office public servants we could see more of the same.

Then perhaps we can stop handing out welfare checks to other countries with our tax dollars as the lobby groups lose their grip on Washington.

The nation is an organic thing

The nation must not be understood to be identical to the state. A state is a system; it is composed of artifices, of laws, the products of the human mind. A nation is a people, and a people may have one state, or multiple states, which may change dramatically over time. Remember the Indian tribes, which were often organized into autonomous bands, or the classical Greek city-states. There were regional variations, of course, but there was an awareness of people-hood, or nationhood, that set them apart from others in the world.

Consider the analogy of the family; the family is a natural, organic entity. It is lived and experienced, and membership in the family is dictated by shared experience. There are, of course, deaths and births, and adoption may occur, but the reality of the family is never in doubt. A family, too, may be said to be governed in various ways; the management of household affairs may fall on the woman, and the family may respect the headship of the father. Perhaps, in times of necessity or for other reasons, children may be sent elsewhere, e.g., to be educated or cared for, but the basic integrity of the family remains.

Dual citizenship might be possible on a piece of paper, but it is impossible to have two mothers in the full sense of the word and really fully belong to both. You can claim citizenship under two, three, or four states, but claiming several nations is as absurd as claiming to have four mothers! The minute you call yourself both Mexican and American, or both Chinese and American, I know you are not one of my kind at all, even if you have the right passport. You may have been raised here, you may drink the same water, read the same books, but you have already decided that you are something else, something "additional" to my brother.

What do you think the

What do you think the difference between a nation and a state is?

Are you aware that everyone outside the U.S. sees countries as "states"?

What do you mean?

Countries are not "states." A country, in its primary meaning, is an expanse of land; it may be delimited by natural features, like the "fen country" for the Fenlands of eastern England (the fen marshes have now been mostly drained, but the name remains) or it may be delimited by elements of human geography, like New England as a distinctive (or formerly so) cultural area, or the United States considered as a whole. I did not use "state" in the American sense of an administrative subdivision, but rather to designate the polity, the armed minority to which we misapply the term "the government." In other words, I used the term in the sense familiar to most outside of America.

Here is what the great anarcho-monarchist scholar and writer J.R.R. Tolkien wrote on the use of the word "government" in a letter to his son:

If we could get back to personal names, it would do a lot of good. Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and the process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people. If people were in the habit of referring to 'King George's council, Winston and his gang', it would do a long way to clearing thought, and reducing the frightful landslide into Theyocracy.

Can someone please explain this...

I noticed a lot of the older comments have user names that are crossed out, and from two or three people. Were they banished for being trolls? What gives?

Yeah, gotta say I don't agree

we have a lack of participation by American citizens problem.. seats are emply and if a duel ciotzen steps up, they take the seat.

I don't think you can trully appreciate being American if you don't have some multiculturalism. America is an idea nothing more.
"Where liberty dwells, there is my country."
America may not even exist in the next couple hundred years for all we know.
Not to mention who is to define what is "American"?
Being Mexican-American I have always sruggled with this idea. Is "American" acting like a white man and eating hotdogs? I've never ever understood white American "culture". Never made sense to me. I'm sure Native Americans (which Mexicans are of mixed blood with) feel the same way.
If a Navajo chooses to speak nothing but Navajo and not a lick of English, who the hell are you to tell him he's a traitor or "un-american"???!
Same goes for Mexican-Americans who are native to 1/3rd of the U.S. which the U.S. stole unfairly; so unfairly even Ulysess S. Grant said The Civil War was karma for robbing Mexico. If the state of New Mexico was to decide that Spanish should be their official language (or even a Native American language just for the sake of argument) it's completely within their right to do so as long as they respect the Constitution and the principles of liberty. They even have the right to vote to break away and become independent, or hell.. even rejoin Mexico. Self governance is what America was founded on.
People who quote Teddy Roosevelt forget that he was a racist imperialist pig who had no idea of multiculturalism.
Us Mexicans and Native Americans more than anyone else here have every right to retain and love our 2 cultures.
And just so you can kiss my ass, I'm a Marine Afghan combat veteran and absolutely love America. But get angry whenever some white guy tries to shame me from my heritage.
