If You're in it to WIN it...

...then I welcome you to THE PLAN, that's right, the blueprint to victory.

I can't figure out whats more mind-blowing; an honest candidate loyal to the Constitution such as RP or the amazing energized die-hard supporters of RP. It's blatantly obvious (no contest) that RP has attracted the MOST loyal, pro-active supporters in the history of politics.

Tragically, I feel that our efforts are misdirected toward tasks (ie. posting signs, ruling the internet, button-pins, on-line polls, hostile msg board wars, etc...) resulting in fruitless outcomes. 2008 election was proof that winning straw polls, having the most signs (paint the town RP), even record-breaking fundraisers DID NOT WIN us any primaries. NOT EVEN ONE! And so, I suggest to all you pro-active supporters out there to pick up what you're doing ONLY AFTER you have implemented THE PLAN.

So what is THE PLAN?

Here it is--THE PLAN---->join your local county level GOP committee & become an official Committeeman

ADVANTAGES:
-Together, the committeemen elect the County GOP Chairman
-Committeemen often become delegates
-They NOTORIOUSLY endorse primary candidates in ALL elections (sheriff, congressman, state legislature, senator, etc.)
-They get invited to the big dinners and establishment straw polls (read my comment from another thread)

Here's the end game--if all the die hard supporters become committeemen, then it's game over! This plan isn't foolproof, but it would be next to impossible for the establishment to counter it. I think every county in America easily has 30-40 die hard RP-committed citizens ready to be committeemen for their county GOP chapters. I'm voicing this because I strongly suspect that there are NUMEROUS loyal supporters out there wasting efforts on other avenues w/fruitless outcomes ie. blimps, sign waves, RP t-shirts, etc... I believe implementing THE PLAN first will make your efforts far more fruitful.

Don't get me wrong...baking RP cupcakes, T-shirts, blimps, raising money for TV commercials is all good, BUT ONLY AFTER you've reserved your spot on the GOP County Committee. As you may have already experienced, we will NEVER be able convince the GOP establishment to endorse RP therefore FIRST AND FOREMOST we have to become the establishment.

HOW TO DO IT:
-Many precincts have unfilled spots.
-With so much apathy, no one cares for these spots!
-It's easy to get a spot, not competitive at all. But rules vary by state.
-It's a volunteer position; therefore, no obligations.
-Do as much or little work as you want.
-Earmark efforts to educating voters about RP & pertinent issues as you feel appropriate. (Great place to hand out your button-pins, t-shirts, blimps, etc...)
-Obviously you can go canvassing door-to-door w/o being a committeeman BUT people will take you more seriously if you are an OFFICIAL GOP Committeeman. It gives you street cred.

I would like to see a good discussion over this approach. I welcome any dissenting views and criticism to THE PLAN. It's the best way to tweak it ; )

Tea Party 2.0: The Block Captain Revolution (Part I)

"We recognized that a new focus was needed. Whereas before we would protest and rally, now we will activate, organize, and build.
This is not the beginning of the end for the Tea Party Movement, but merely the End of the Beginning."

"In St. Louis we’ve just started organizing Block Captain Teams, which are similar to precinct captains, except that the teams don’t rely on a party for their strength, energy, or legitimacy. The teams are decentralized and don’t rely on a pecking order. Anyone can be a leader. And whereas precinct captains are only active during the campaign season, Block Captain Teams are in the field year-round. Anyone can become a Block Captain overnight, and anyone can start a Block Captain Team and start making a difference immediately. The Teams have many projects, including voter registration, Liberty Evangelism, activist trainings, candidate trainings, petition drive projects, volunteering with various candidate campaigns, and on and on."
http://gatewaypundit.rightnetwork.com/2010/06/tea-party-2-0-...

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

Who says precinct captains only active during campaign season?

If you're a GOP County Committeeman, you are essentially the official precinct leader. You should spend all year round organizing monthly events such as:

-reserve a room in the local library
-show documentaries
-hold book reviews on RP books or G.Edward Griffith's The Creation from Jeckyl Island.
-educate about hot topics including debts, central banking, federal reserve
-Teach your precinct that war causes debts and doesn't help the economy
-This list is endless and doesn't have to revolve around elections

As Daily Paulers, this skill is second nature to us. We fit this role perfectly!

Thanks for the article

I appreciate your thoughtfulness and passion, but I have to disagree with you. Not to be contentious, but because I think it's the real issue. If someone wants to be part of their local GOP, then by all means do it. It probably could only be a good thing. I'm sure you could influence the local members and perhaps become a delegate, etc. However, there is something which is described in two words that makes or breaks people. The bottomline is, the mainstream media decides who is going to be President.

Some might say it's the 'people' who control or decide what's on the mainstream media, but the bottomline is mainstream media controls the public. I won't try to discourage people from working within their GOP and maybe you'll make a difference, but mainstream media is what will give us a chance. If they truly keep coverage balance, that is when blimps and signs and all the things you described work. However, when you have all those things and the mainstream media that people see and hear introduce Ron Paul as: "Low in the polls" "Fringe" "Long Shot" etc. then nothing else matters.

I guarantee you could listen to literally any interview Ron Paul did during the election and he will be described with verbage similiar to that. That would be like saying: "Hey, this is my friend Charlie, he's a complete failure at his profession, but he's available to fix your sink" When that is the first thing people are fed everytime, that is what they are going to believe. Unfortunately, a lot of people are brainwashed by the TV. For better or worse, that is the reality.

Once again, I appreciate your article and encourage anyone who wants to be part of their local GOP, but what I described is what I see as the only problem. And ultimately, I think if we get the same treatment, that we could all be part of our local GOP and it still wouldn't make a difference.

After campaigning for liberty-minded, RP candidates

in 2008 and 2010 I learned that it was practically mission impossible and a very EXPENSIVE ordeal fighting a GOP endorsed candidate. We lost badly--twice! Now I can't speak for your locality nor your congressional district, but over here, if you are endorsed by your party then you win easily. It's a fun ride; no expenses needed for advertising. YOU WIN!

Because we didn't have the GOP endorsement; NONE of us were on the GOP County Committee--all the money in the world in commercial advertising would NOT convince those dedicated primary voters to come to our side. They are zombies. They vote as the GOP tells them to. Bottom line, if you get the GOP endorsement--you WIN!

What you're saying regarding MSM is true for general elections. I'm strictly talking about the primaries.

Ron Paul getting airtime, paying for commercials--->expensive!
My GOP Committee's endorsement for Ron Paul---->priceless! (and cheap)

I can only afford 10 bucks at every money bomb. But I believe no $2400 donation can match a GOP County's endorsement. It will be very cheap & effective if we pursue this route. Again, I always welcome good criticism, discussion, and debate :)

Utah County Committee

Anyone from Utah County here on this board? We should organize and get involved right away. Email me so we can start a core group.

It's too late for Utah.

Dude, where were you 6 months ago? Are you a member of the C4L?

Join your local C4L and become a local coordinator asap and all your questions about Utah party politics will be answered.

There may still be open delegate slots available for an appointment depending on where you are located exactly.

Are you a new supporter?

Are you a new supporter? When did you get interested in Ron Paul? Back 2007 we organized locally via meetup groups. I STRONGLY advise you to join your local meetup. The organizers and leaders there have tremendous knowledge on how to become a delegate or a GOP County Committeeman.

Go here:
http://ronpaul.meetup.com/

Enter your zip code on the right to find the nearest meetup to you. Feel free to ask me any questions too. Good luck!

Just joined my local meetup group

for Ron Paul, but looks like the meetup groups need to be repopulated with past and present supporters. Anyone have the ear of the campaign to post the link above on the ronpau2012.com site?

the meetup group is great for

the meetup group is great for communicating to everyone inthe meetup via mass email.

I think other stuff is now being undertaken by Campaign for Liberty. You should join them too. Become a local coordinator. They give you good guidance as to what you should do that will help RP most.

"The Plan" should be to win YOUR precinct

in the 2012 primary, period. By whatever means.

We will be setting up tables at 3 precincts near us at next week's primary with a presidential straw poll and separate questionnaire about voter's concerns: economy, job, Constitution, etc...collecting email addresses on the questionnaire so we may send them the results of the poll. And of course we will have Ron Paul fact sheets and 2012 bumper stickers.

Advantage: We will be able to gauge the amount of work necessary to win the precinct next year. Can not do the same at your precinct at your upcoming primary? Plan to do it this November at the general election. That will give you 6 months to win your precinct. Have your precinct wrapped up? Move to the next one. No excuses, just do it.

Make no mistake! That is THE PLAN.

Once you become a GOP County Committeeman, you ARE the precinct leader. You are the official GOP spokesman responsible for disseminating info to your precinct. That is your primary function.

The bonus that comes along with that is that you also get to endorse candidates in all kinds of elections throughout your tenure. Get a RonPauler for committeeman in every precinct and you get a 100% UNSTOPPABLE endorsement for Ron Paul during primary season. You also get to endorse RonPaul-type candidates in other positions too--mayor, sheriff, governor, etc.

You have the right idea. I simply think you hold more credibility when you tell people that YOU are the official GOP spokesman. As a result, you'll win over the GOP loyalists who simply vote like zombies according to what the GOP says is so.

Not Ron Paul's approach

I disagree. This approach is all backwards.

Ron Paul's first priority is education. He's not trying to become president in order to educate. He's trying to educate, and becoming president will be a sign that he has succeeded.

Similarly, a Ron Paul success does not involve a small minority of supporters getting a disproportionately large number of committee seats. Success means actually persuading a large enough proportion of the pool from which committee chairs come to get that high number of seats.

THE PLAN should be Ron Paul's plan - spread the message of liberty. Spread the message to friends, family, co-workers, and, yes, on the internet. We need a much bigger presence on Facebook and Twitter, for example.

Shameless bump

*bump*

Thanks for posting!

Here's a bump for some real, practical activism.

While it probably varies by state, taking over the GOP county by county and state by state is fun (and not as hard as you'd think). Politics is a simple equation 50% + 1 wins. In a lot of places, there simply isn't enough motivated Republicans that whoever shows up can get a convention delegate spot or county central committee position. My caucus this winter had 6 people. But because I was one of the six I'm now a member of a very small group that will choose the next county supervisor (as I live in a deep red county, the GOP primary or in this case special convention is the de facto general election). I've already met three of the candidates who have to seek my vote. They were shocked that I actually asked them issue questions, most Republicans let them skate by with saying "I own a business in town, my kids went to school here, blah, blah, blah."

Even if we don't convince the other Republicans to support Ron Paul, our boldness and intelligence can inspire them to take their own shots at the establishment and back our people in lower races where before they had always just gone along to get along.

Our local Ron Paul meetup group (sponsored by Birchers)

provides small information hand outs on different topics and makes knocking on doors fun, because without getting too opinionated, you hand them that particular info, and it has also contact info.
Last campaign, I went door to door for up to two hours and really enjoyed meeting my neighbors. Every person was kindly and interested.
"I'd just like to drop off some information about Ron Paul."
or ... I would leave it in the mail box.
On the same route, I would check up on the banners I would place about town.
It's a lot of fun, you feel like you're really doing something! Further, sign up for a few days of a month in the phone rooms help making calls for your own and other precincts.
This time, as RP is in favorable media, people will be even more anxious to recieve info about the great Dr. Paul.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

That's awesome, you're doing

That's awesome, you're doing everything right! (except I wouldn't put any info in anyone's mailbox :P)

However, if you're an official GOP Committeeman you can con't doing what you're doing and people will also take you more seriously.

Recommendations to make your efforts more fruitful:
Only knock on door of registered republicans who have a history of voting in primaries! Otherwise the people you are contacting simply don't count. Sorry, it's harsh, but it's true.

Also if you're a committeeman, you'll have the opportunity to sway the committee to endorse RP's candidacy! The more RP committeemen, the better your chances of winning over the GOP County!

Good luck!

Right, last time I recieved a list of addresses of Republicans.

And, it's surprising how many info flyers or "slims" one can pass out thru the week, but you're saying make 'em count. I also play the 3-foot rule ... if they are within 3 feet, I talk to them. I just want to get some info out there about RP and thank you for the encouragement and focus on people more apt to listen.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

Sounds like you joined the

Sounds like you joined the precinct leader program in Ron Paul's Campaign in 2007!

You know the game. But hitting up the registered republicans isn't good enough! You wanna hit up all the registered republicans that have consistently voted in numerous, recent, past primaries.

I became Chairman of the

I became Chairman of the County GOP last time around. I'm dreading the thought of doing it again because the paperwork is a nightmare to me. Plus, the hate directed towards me by the libs and the neocons was at times just unbearable. I lost the Chair to a couple of neocon activists because of a screwup on my part with paperwork. Will I do it again? I don't know. I'm thisclose to moving and intensly preparing for the collapse. But I keep reminding myself of how many years Dr. Paul toiled away it and I say to myself, quit being a wimp! One other reason for not getting more involved now is my wife hates, I mean absolutely hates my involvement in politics. It's a problem, try to lead the sheeple or be happy with being a precinct committeman

Freedom Fighters always face strong opposition...

What, did you think this fight would be easy?

If you are as experienced you are, the movement needs your expertise.

Are you mentoring other Ron Paulers in your geography? Did you become a C4L local coordinator?

It took us 80 years to deconstruct the Republic. It may take 80 years to get it back. Getting Dr. Paul into office could cut that 80 down to 10-20.

No hold barred. We need to win this. Key party positions are key to that win.

I guess I didn't think it

I guess I didn't think it would be as evil as it was. (my county is only 30,000 mostly old people) I was assaulted twice, had and continue to have trumped up charges leveled against me. And to tell you the truth I think we need to collapse before people wake up. Maybe I am wrong. It is very hard to think that I will just walk away from it all because I am a "die hard." (As told to me by other die hards)

I appreciate the kick in the ass! I am not as experienced as it may seem. I always voted libertarian and went about my life, figuring F 'em, if they are that tarded, let 'em have it.

My wife will probably divorce me if I keep this up...Or she will stay and we risk having a severely diminished lifestyle because I took my eye off the cash flow ball. But without her I don't need as much money. (just kidding honey!)

END THE FED!!!

Question on the plan

I haven't been involved with politics for a long time but I breath/live Ron Paul and won't stop until he is elected. Maybe I never got so excited about politics because candidates of years prior (other than Ron) were nothing to get excited about. Big government is big government. Ron Paul gives me hope.

I truly believe that electing Dr. Paul can help save America from this downward spiral we have been on. I want to be a part but can I really make a difference in a state like Washington that is primarily a blue state? My local precinct would be in Olympia, Washington. I want to get involved. I am not going to sit back while the mainstream media chooses our fate. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms.
Ron Paul

Join C4L and become a local coordinator

you will get all the knowledge and tools you need for your area.

All that matters right now is

All that matters right now is the Republican primary and if you live in a Blue State your local GOP should be ripe for a takeover.

NOT EVEN ONE?

You're right about the plan but Ron Paul DID WIN the Louisiana primary (before the GOP gave the win to a "combined candidate" of everyone else vs Ron Paul). Also, I think this win was accomplished by delegates and local level involvement not so much sign waving, just like your plan. When you get involved locally, you will be amazed at how uninvolved most people are and how morally bankrupt and fake those already involved are. The good news is they scatter like roaches when you bring up the Constitution or any informed questioning - it's lots of fun :)

Become the establishment!

You're right about that victory, however, RP's supporters didn't come out to enforce that win and technically they allowed themselves to be robbed of that victory. It was sad. If we only had GOP chairmen & committeemen to enforce the victory, the outcomes would have been different. Delegates and regular voters alone will not win this. We NEED TO BECOME THE ESTABLISHMENT!

So I still stand by that...not even one :(

ALL CORRECT

and....you have to do this right away. South Carolina has already slipped by. We had our state GOP convention this past Saturday. Find out where your state is in this process TODAY and jump in. Don't ponder/worry about being co-opted. It can't happen. Join your local GOP county party.

Like the post says, "Become the establishment".

At the same time think dollars. We have got to get RP all that is out there. If we can ask him to be all in, then we have to be "all in" also. When's the next money bomb?

I agree this is a winning plan. "it's the delegates stupid!"

here is a good primer, from CFR of all places, on the role of delegates in presidential process:

http://www.cfr.org/us-election-2008/role-delegates-us-presid...

Most local committees are thrilled to get new blood into them. The GOP hacks will view you with suspicion, but you will roll right over them because we have the numbers. Taking over every local committee is true grassroots action, best of all we are playing by their own rules.
