Important Ron Paul video for many

I've had friends tell me that this is one of the most significant video they've seen by Dr. Paul. Here in the South, personal faith is of great concern to many. We don't get to hear Ron Paul speak about his faith because those questions are replaced by, "You want to legalize prostitution and heroine?"

Check out this video and share it with friends! I think it will be very significant for many.

to be a christian to love Ron Paul. RP2012

Why should faith be an issue?

If we are talking about personal freedoms why does a man's faith matter? I think that it's a shame that people of unorthodox faith are put on the political fringe in this country. Ideally this video should not be important to anyone because a person's political ideas should be far more important than their faith when running for public office. Unfortunately you need to be Christian in order to attract the blind believers in the country.

Just adding to the discussion

Like someone else said, his philosophy comes FROM his faith. For instance, his unwaivering respect for life and individual rights. He says they come from our Creator. I think that's important because he understands that they're not given by a person and therefore we all have them.

Also, by hearing what he says about his faith, we can judge his sincerity. Is it lip service or real -- and by extension, is he paying lip service or being sincere about other things? When he talks about his faith, you can tell it's real for him and that he thinks it through and thinks about his actions in relation to it. He also challenges others who profess the same faith. When a lot of the others talk about their faith, it's clear they use it only for gain. (Which I suppose is your point!) OK, well, I do see your point for sure, and I think it causes damage when people just play lip service to their faith and we fall for it. But I'm also grateful to hear Ron Paul speak about his faith, because he speaks about it clearly different than others. It's just another way he's on a different level from the rest. Another example of his integrity and consistency, etc. (And as a Christian, I'm also just glad to see somebody like him living the Christian life as he should and being a role model for others since for the most part we have kind of a bad rep sometimes.)

The other thing is that faith is intensely personal and important to people. So if people know how important faith is to him, they also know he'll stand up for their rights to practice their faith, and that's important. It's important for him to relate to as many people as possible. We all have different things that are important to us (just like he's said he personally doesn't use marijuana but he supports others' rights to do so). Hopefully it can be a starting point for many people to "come around" and see the other things.

And, I simply appreciate knowing more about who Ron Paul is as an individual. He's quite a guy! :)

OK, that was long. My main point is that it's good for him to talk about his faith like this because (1) it challenges what the others say/do, supposedly based on their faith; (2) it appeals to people who care very strongly about their faith and want to be able to practice it freely (and which can be related to other things, such as marijuana, homeschooling, etc., etc.); and (3) it can add to the full picture and tell us just a little bit more about who he is (consistent, honest, brave, has integrity, etc.). But I also agree with you that we have to look at the whole person. Faith alone (having it or not) is not enough.

what people believe dictates what they do

I am very very interested in what these canidates say about their faith. If someone goes up there (like most of them) and says they are a christian, but then know nothing about their faith I know that they are a liar and can expect that they are lying about everything else. If on the other hand someone goes up there and knows a lot about there faith and shows how it has affected there life, I know that they can probably be trusted. For example in this video Ron Paul says that he is a Christian and one of his beliefs is that Christ is the only way to God. Straight up and down that is a major Christian belief that most other politicians would not say because they would be afraid to offend somebody whereas paul says this is what I believe, but then he goes on to say because of that belief he must be a man of peace because Christ is the prince of peace. He tells us what his faith is, and he just told us clearly what that means to those that vote for him.

My thoughts

Cwp4ut, great post....

Dev518... also a great point, I generally agree, but in response to your comment....

I believe it is nice to know of a man's faith who is running for the highest appointment in the land, it is also nice to know that he will not use religious beliefs linked to his faith to dictate policy. Ron has shown us his philosophy over the last 30 years, that he's committed and will not corrupt under pressure like so many. But I still think this video could be essential in at least grabbing the attention of the Christian population that might otherwise blow him off since the MSM only talks about "Legalizing Heroine."

The reason I put this video out is to open doors. I've shown this to christians who see this then decide they actually want to hear more of his message.

I've seen non-christians comment on this clip by acknowledging that he approaches his faith and its role in his public decisions in the proper manner. It's a win-win situation from my personal experience and I can't imagine that this video would hurt his message... his chance in 2012 in any way.

.

" a person's political ideas

should be far more important than their faith when running for public office." Pauls FAITH dictates his political philosophy. His faith gives him the capability to discern between varying philosophies. You'll say his education in austrian economics and Mises dictates his politicial philosophy. ""Diverse weights are an abomination to the Lord, and a false balance is not good" (Proverbs 20:23). The general principle can be summed up as "You shall not steal". The Bible assumed that money was a precious metal and honest weight and measures were to be practiced. The words of JESUS even contain a germ of the Austrian theory of the business cycle..." Ron Paul, End The Fed. Ask Ron why he feels the need to validate his monetary philosophy by Christ's words.

"Ideally" (?? In whose perfect world) "this video should not be important to ANYONE because a person's political ideas SHOULD be FAR more important than their faith when running for public office."
Be careful when outside the DP to make GENERALIZATIONS, the majority will immediately discredit everything you say before or after the generalization. You have the right to believe that politics SHOULD come first and faith SHOULD come second (or last, or irrelevant) when running for office, but by doing that you are insinuating that the two are decoupled = mutually exclusive. For a LARGE voting base, a candidate’s faith (or lack thereof) could swing that person to vote for them. Your rebuttal would be “a person’s faith has nothing to do with politics”, but the opposite is true for some candidates/voters". To isolate, antagonize, rebuke, and discredit these individuals would be very ignorant and hinder the function of Rons movement. Remember, irrespective of the pecking orders people have (faith first, country second....) all WE want is a vote for Ron Paul come nov 2012.

Bill Maher makes the same point

Bill Maher (believe it or not) made the same point about Christianity on Friday, in a substantially less subtle manner:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TRk8xzKpAw&feature=player_de...

For example:
‎"You're supposed to look at that figure of Christ on the cross and think, 'how could a man suffer like that and forgive?', not 'Romans are pussy, he still has his eyes.'"

"Know what you know, know what you don't know, and understand and appreciate the distinction."

Minarchism
track

reminded me what kind of back bone the man has

I mean how many people running for office that call themselves christians ever say that the only way to God is through Christ. Amen.

FAVORITE VIDEO OF RON PAUL THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN

I truly believe that this is an amazing video and is very important to spread. I felt truly inspired by this and it shows a side of RP that we rarely get to see!

"We need to understand the more government spends, the more freedom is lost...Instead of simply debating spending levels, we ought to be debating whether the departments, agencies, and programs funded by the budget should exist at all."
— Ron Paul

I love

How Dr. Paul is not afraid to speak of his faith with conviction, and live it in his daily life as well. Yet, I also love how close he stands to the American way by not trying to cram his particular faith or methodology down everyone's throat.

NO MORE LIES. Ron Paul 2012.

I met Ron Paul there.

The video footage is from the Values Voters debate held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL back in 2007. As all of the other no-name candidates walked off the stage (the big shots refused to participate), only Ron Paul remained to greet the crowd. Eventually he stepped down from the stage and exited with the crowd where we walked together-- no security envoy necessary-- to the rally point where he would preach to the choir post-debate.

He really did a beautiful job at that debate and was really the only voice that made sense both realistically and spiritually considering the venue. It is touching to hear this clip again since it reminds me of how real Ron Paul is. I met Kent Snyder and Ron Paul as they walked up the aisle where I was seated, and I think that Snyder is pulling some strings up above as Dr. Paul campaigns once more.

It was an OK day. It was the first time for me....

...to meet the good doctor. It was unfortunate that the day was also a horrible day for me as a Christian. When Dr. Paul said that Jesus stood for peace loud booing broke out... that was so horrible. It haunts me even to this day. Fascism at its worse.

I guess "Prince of Peace" is just

a nice sounding slogan for Jesus as far as these people are concerned. It's not like Jesus actually practiced or preached peace, love, and forgiveness, after all.

Just posted!

I liked this video a lot. I just posted it on facebook!

Im not a Christian

but that was a moving, passionate, and authentic display of a man who GETS IT.

Thank you

I just posted this on a homeschool forum that I go to and have been battling them for the last 4 years about Ron Paul. I can't figure out why Christian homeschoolers would have any reservations about Paul.

I first saw a video of Paul in May of 2007 and he cured my apathy and I have never looked back since.
I will keep fighting the good fight until my last breath though I have lost friends over it and still will never give up.

Blind leading the blind

That's why.

I have many Christian friends too. Many are ultra educated, fine, and of high moral character.

Yet, they are confused about freedom, what it is, and how it is "engineered" in a society, in other words, the proper role of government.

Just yesterday, at my church, one of the leaders said something over the pulpit that indicated to me that he may not understand the peril we're in as a country, and who's on the right side of the fight.

It was an indirect, sort of ambiguous quote, but led me to believe he was probably grouped in with vast numbers of the deceived. And that's the reason these homeschoolers don't "Get it". They haven't studied it thoroughly, and are listening to somebody they respect probably, who has ridiculed Dr. Paul, and yet, they have no good rationale to explain their opposition to his positions.

Satan is the great deceiver. He is a master.

If you consider yourself a Christian...

...can there be any doubt who to support for president?

The Bush doctrine of pre-emptive war is decidely un-Christian and he (and his administration) are murdering hypocrites - as is anyone (hint) who continues his pro-war policies.

What we have done the past 8 years is not Christian-like behavior.

Unfortunately those of us who disagree with our government's policies unwittingly support it with our tax dollars.

Thus, all the killing abroad is done in all of our names.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Religion divides us.

Reason unites us. I think this is why he doesn't speak much about his personal religious beliefs, because he understands that religion IS personal, but truth and reason are universal.

I don't post much anymore but

I don't post much anymore but that was powerful.

I'm telling you if he said this enough. He would win the election.

Excellent ! Must Go Viral..It Defines Him As A Complete Man

Of Peace..Huckabee And Palin Are Not The Only Exposed Social Conservatives. So it must be said that Ron Paul is not only a Fiscal Conservative And he is also a Social Conservative as well.

We need to make sure that this is mentioned when describing him.

Remember we are running a campaign and many Americans may not know that he is a complete conservative through and through. We cannot not expect the lying MSM to decribe him accurately.

If i was looking for a social conservative i would need to know this. i haven't heard this about him often enough. They always ascribe him as person who understands monetary policy and the business cycle.

We need to make this priority #1..Especially since Huckabee and Palin are not going to run.

We need the church people to endorse Ron Paul since he is 100% Pro-life.

So nice to hear,

even though it shows through actions :)
