Ron Paul Responds to President Obama’s Middle East Speech

LAKE JACKSON, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ron Paul, a twelve-term U.S. congressman, member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and 2012 Republican Presidential Candidate, remarked on President Obama’s speech earlier today about the United States’ Middle East policy. Please see the statement below.

“The President gave a speech today about our foreign policy in the Middle East, and once again this administration has proven that it does not understand a proper foreign policy for America. When will our leaders finally do what’s right for America and rethink this irrational approach we’ve followed for far too long?

“Israel is our close friend. While President Obama’s demand that Israel make hard concessions in her border conflicts may very well be in her long-term interest, only Israel can make that determination on her own, without pressure from the United States or coercion by the United Nations.

“Unlike this President, I do not believe it is our place to dictate how Israel runs her affairs. There can only be peace in the region if those sides work out their differences among one another. We should respect Israel’s sovereignty and not try to dictate her policy from Washington.

“The President also defended his unconstitutional intervention in Libya, authorized not by the United States Congress but by the United Nations, and announced new plans to pressure Syria and force the leader of that country to step down.

“Our military is already dangerously extended, and this administration wants to expand our involvement. When will our bombing in Libya end? Is President Obama seriously considering military action against Syria? We are facing $2 trillion dollar deficits, and the American taxpayer cannot afford any of it.

“Our military’s purpose is to defend our country, not to police the Middle East.

“As the President prepares to send even more support to Egypt, we should be reminded that it was our foreign aid that helped Mubarak retain power to repress his people in the first place. Now we have to deal with the consequences of those decisions, yet we keep repeating the same mistakes.

“I am not the only one who can see the absurdities of our foreign policy. We give $3 billion to Israel and $12 billion to her enemies. Most Americans know that makes no sense.

“We need to come to our senses, trade with our friends in the Middle East (both Arab and Israeli), clean up our own economic mess so we set a good example, and allow them to work out their own conflicts.”

It looks as if he is going to start putting out more PR's giving his position on hot button issues.

I like the idea, instead of getting set up in an interview on some show that will be viewed by few people, he should first get his views on the wire services for all to see. That way he can get his thoughts written down and when the interviews come, he can draw on the PR for answers.

"When will our bombing in Libya end?"

Obama: "Days, not weeks."

This article by Dr. Paul clears up my confusion

I'm 60 years old. I'm a 2-time contributor to Dr. Paul's campaigns, and I have never contributed to any other political candidate. I re-registered myself from "Green" to "Republican" just so I could vote for Dr. Paul in the California primary. To me, Dr. Paul has, in the past, appeared to be the perfect candidate, EXCEPT for his strange silence on one key issue -- he never would come right out and tell the truth about 9/11.

The truth about 9/11 which Dr. Paul never mentions is that the crimes of 9/11 were not done by Muslims at all -- and they WERE done by zionist Israeli intel people, with the full support of American intel, military, government, and media people.

Israel is not America's "close friend," as Dr. Paul says. Israel is not America's friend at all. It is no exaggeration say that Israel (which attacked the US on 9/11/01) is controlling American politics, media, and finance, to the total detriment of real American interests.

Dr. Paul proposes auditing the Federal Reserve -- but he never mentions that fact (and it is a fact) that the Fed is a private company owned and controlled by the zionist banking cartel.

This article by Dr. Paul, siding with Israel and calling Israel America's "close friend," clears up my confusion about Dr. Paul. I am no longer his supporter, as I now fully understand who he really works for -- Israel.

Erm

Oh come on, you became a member just to post this? Honestly?

Firstly, Israel is just as much our close friend as anyone else is. We should treat all countries as trading partners, but having alliances with none.

Paul is advocating no longer giving Israel foreign aid, and also not giving Israel's enemies foreign aid.

Take your Zionist crap and your screwed up interpretations of what Paul is saying and shove it. You know he doesn't work for Israel any more than he works for any country other than America and the people who live here.

Shoo, go troll somewhere else.

Little Patience,

Randon_User, many on DP can appreciate your impatience, we too are aware of the articles and videos about 911, there are so many, well presented. We also know that the Fed is a private banking cartel. I hope you understand the situation, we are at liberty to shout at the top of our voices, but those aspiring for high office have to go thru a rigorous filtering process, therefore RP has to move carefully, while not hindering his supporters.
Read Matthew 10:16 You are as lamb, among wolves - -.
Please also be careful, be a healthy skeptic, but not a doubter of RP's intent, nor reach faulty conclusions.
RP has made clear statements about his Christian faith.
Hope you will revise your opinions patiently, positively.
Best wishes.

Having just watched Obama @ AIPAC...

...I so long for a president who will put the US first, second, and third above all others, instead of genuflecting before the lobby of a foreign nation in order to get re-elected.

Israel can be a friend like Canada is a friend:

  1. We give no arms to Canada
  2. We give no loans to Canada
  3. We send no aid to Canada
  4. We have no "Canada lobby"
  5. Canada does not dictate our foreign policy
  6. Canada does not manipulate our politicians
  7. Canada does not cause our congress to vote against the will of the people
  8. We fight no wars against Canada's enemies with our blood and treasure
  9. No elected official cowers in front of Canada or licks her boots in order to get re-elected
  10. ...etc.

I so long for Ron Paul to become our president.

Don't forget, according to

Don't forget, according to arch Zionist David Horowitz, Ron Paul is a vicious anti-Semite, simply because he doesn't want to give our tax money to Israel (or any other foreign country).

I'm a Zionist, and I don't

I'm a Zionist, and I don't want America giving tax money to Israel (or any other foreign country) either!

has everyone forgotten the dead sailors of the USS Liberty?

attacked deliberately by Israel to drag us into the Six Day War? I haven't. Repeat, Israel is not my friend, Dr. Paul.

On June 8, 1967, US Navy intelligence ship USS Liberty was suddenly and brutally attacked on the high seas in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. Survivors have been forbidden for 40 years to tell their story under oath to the American public. The USS Liberty Memorial web site tells their story and is dedicated to the memory of the 34 brave men who died.

The Attack

After surveilling USS Liberty for more than nine hours with almost hourly aircraft overflights and radar tracking, the air and naval forces of Israel attacked our ship in international waters without warning. USS Liberty was identified as a US naval ship by Israeli reconnaissance aircraft nine hours before the attack and continuously tracked by Israeli radar and aircraft thereafter. Sailing in international waters at less than five knots, with no offensive armament, our ship was not a military threat to anyone.

The Israeli forces attacked without warning and without attempting to contact us. Thirty four Americans were killed in the attack and another 174 were wounded. The ship, a $40-million dollar state-of-the-art signals intelligence platform, was later declared unsalvageable and sold for scrap.

The Cover Up
Despite a near-universal consensus that the Israeli attack was made with full knowledge that USS Liberty was a US Navy ship, the Johnson administration began an immediate cover-up of this fact. Though administration officers continued individually to characterize the attack as deliberate, the Johnson administration never sought the prosecution of the guilty parties or otherwise attempted to seek justice for the victims. They concealed and altered evidence in their effort to downplay the attack. Though they never formally accepted the Israeli explanation that it was an accident, they never pressed for a full investigation either. They simply allowed those responsible literally to get away with murder.

In an ongoing effort to reveal the truth about the attack, the USS Liberty Veterans Association has filed with the Secretary of the Army in the manner prescribed by law a detailed, fully documented Report of War Crimes describing the circumstances of the attack on our ship and evidence that it was a crime under international law. In accordance with international law and treaties, the United States is obligated to investigate the allegations. So far, the United States has declined even to acknowledge that the report has been filed. The full text of the report can be found at http://www.gtr5.com/evidence/warcrimes.pdf

Israel can take care of

Israel can take care of herself. I'm tired of US soldiers dying for the MIC and aipacs agenda. On a side note, Dr. Paul isn't even being mentioned on foxnews by ANY commentators.

Jesus is a Zionist and damn proud of it.

Amazing how the self proclaimed Messiah Obama is trying to remove the Jews from the land like a good little anti christ Hitler, while when the true Messiah Jesus Christ returns He will increase it's land according to His promise which He spoke thousands of years ago. And no, He's not joking. The Hittites and the Obamanites (Abominationites) won't be able to do a whole lot about it. Since Jesus is a Zionist, I am glad to be called one as well. God said to Abraham and his descendants through Jacob (Israel), "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you." Obama and the United States is playing with fire if they wish to mess around with the land God promised to Israel.

The Land of Israel was given to both of Abraham's sons.

As I recall, God promised Abram the land, of which Israel is a part, for him and his descendants for ever. That included most of what is now the middle east, not just what we call Israel. In addition Ishmael (the first son of Abram/Abraham) was promised by God a great nation. Are we to believe that God meant for Ishmael to have a political government without any land to govern? Is that what we are to understand from "great nation" that was promised to Ishmael the first born of Abraham? I think not.
Isaac, the second son, was promised a covenant between his descendants and God. Later Isaac's son Jacob is renamed Israel and it is from him and his 12 sons that the Israel nation comes. The land under the rule of this family and their descendants was called Israel and later that split in two so part of it was called Judea and the other part Israel.(Was Judea outside of the promise God had given since it was not called "Israel"?)
However, once Israel fell and the Jews were dispersed, the land known as Israel fell into non-Jewish hands but for much of that history, the land called Israel was in the hands of Abraham's descendants albeit not always of the Isaac line. A lot of that time after Israel's collapse it was ruled by the Muslims and the Muslims follow the teachings of Abraham's descendant Muhammad, who himself is a descendant of Kedar, who was a son of Ishmael.
Now I agree that the US should not be involving itself in any politics involving that entire area unless one of those countries petitions our Congress to be admitted as a State in our Union. But I wanted to point out that the land wasn't promised to Israel (Jacob) and his descendants exclusively, but rather it was promised to Abraham and his descendants (both Ishmael AND Isaac. Therefore, neither the Jews (descendants of Isaac) nor the Palestinian Muslims (descendants of Ishmael) neither one have an exclusive Biblical claim to the land, as it was given by God to both of them jointly through their common ancestor Abraham. Furthermore the quote you give applies to anyone not just the Isaac/Israel line. And for the record it is referring to anyone who blesses or curses Abraham. I don't recall the American government blessing or cursing the Israelites or the Palestinians.
I make these points as a reminder that we should be neutral and fair to everyone, regardless of which side they are on or which one we as individuals feel compelled to support. I am not a Zionist, and I'm fine with you being one. However, no one should distort the facts of history to support their political views. Israel is a part of the land given to Abraham and his family (both sons), not the exclusive property of just one. Jesus did say "the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a nation that shall bear the fruit thereof" and for over 1,000 years that land fell into the hands of a great Muslim nation which was, like it or not, the great nation promised to Ishmael since Ishmael and his descendants never had anything more than a small tribal migrating society before that. Bear in mind that Jews and Christians both found shelter and peace under Muslim rule and were permitted to visit Jerusalem, something not extended to Muslims and Jews when Christians ruled there during the Crusades.
As for playing with fire if the US messes around with them, well that goes for anyone any where any time the United States involves itself with foreign affairs that we should not be involving ourselves with because it is outside the scope of federal constitutional authority which always produces negative consequences and entanglements that are more easily avoided when our government obeys the Constitution.

Only to one son was the land given

God's covenant with Abraham went to Issac, not Ishmael found in Genesis 17:18-19 , and in Gen 17:8 He said that the covenant would be the land of Canaan as an everlasting possesion.
Genesis 25:17-18 Tells us where Ishmael lived and it wasn't in Israel, it was in the wilderness of Shur located in the northwestern corner of Sinai just east of the old kingdom of Egypt and Havilah which meant "region of sand". Ishamel's descendants as listed in 1 Chron 1:29 lived in Northern Arabia and the Sinai. Not within Israel's borders. The land is called Israel for a reason, the descendents of the twelve sons of Jacob whose name God declared as Israel. That land is not known as Ishmael. Ishmael has no Biblical claim to the land, God gave to him a different land in which to dwell.

I'm no biblical scholar, but

I'm no biblical scholar, but I'm pretty sure Jesus said to love your neighbor.

Fair & True,

Novan, what you say is recorded in the OT-Bible, and the Maseah, son of Maryum, reminded the folks of his time, to adhere to this noble principle. Those who believe in him accept his teachings and follow his way.
But there are people on this earth who reject him, slander his mother, and boast that they killed him. There are jokers with these traits still roaming around the world, cheating their hosts, usurp their neighbors' property, beat up the children, uproot olive trees, claim the Temple Mount, and carry a big gun - made in U$A.
Locals are brutalized, neighbors are apprehensive, and the whole world is confused.

above

is a perfect example why we will never have peace

Not to worry

When Jesus Christ returns to set up His kingdom ruling out of Jerusalem then there will be peace. Until then you are right, there will be no man made peace, for the Scripture says "Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles is complete."

Did the Bible ever mention "a new Israel"?

Just wondering

THE LORD IS THERE

Per say, after the nations invade Israel in the future, known as the Gog Magog invasion, and the Lord Jesus returns and kicks their butts, As recorded in Ezekiel chapter 38 and 39. In Ezekiel chapter 47 verse 13 and onward tells us what the Messianic borders of Israel will be, and in Ezekiel 48:35 the city where Jesus shall rule from shall be known as "THE LORD IS THERE"
For a map of what God said is Israel's borders see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Map_Land_of_Israel.jpg

Oh please!

I hope that you are being facetious!

"Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory." --- Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

RƎVO⅃UTION NOW!

Facetious?

No, God is not being facetious, He meant what He said and will carry it out.
Just look at the curse brought upon Ariel Sharon, the ex prime minister of Israel that gave up some of Israel to the Palestinians. August 2005, He expells over 9000 Jewish settlers from Gaza and the West Bank, has their settlements bulldozed, Sept 2005 has all Israel solders removed from Gaza. December 2005, Sharon suffers a series of strokes and is shortly removed from office. As a result, Palastinians in Gaza have been launching rocket attacks into Israel ever since. So much for "Land for Peace"

Hmmmm....

Someone sounds a little bitter about not being Raptured yesterday.

"Give a man a gun, and he could rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he could rob the world."

The great by and by

Since I believe the rapture will occur at the end of the Tribulation I wasn't to concerned with yesterday's false prophecy especially since Jesus himself said "No man knows the hour or the day". Of course if Obama invades Israel with a bunch of other nations like he did in Libya, then I might be getting my bags packed :)

And when Big Bad Barry

And when Big Bad Barry invades Syria, guess who's going to pay the price? Israel.. I'd bet money them and Lebanon will be shelling Israel.

No self respecting Jew in his right mind should vote for Obama, and we should excommunicate any traitorous wretch who does!!!

"When will our leaders

"When will our leaders finally do what’s right for America...?"

When Bible thumpers and fanatical Zionist no longer dictate that our foreign policy is based on old Testament scripture.

Apparently this forum is

Apparently this forum is populated by bible thumpers and zionists.

This could be the beginning of the end of my love affair with RP

all we need in American politics is another Israel-Firster. It is a criminal, oppressive regime. Bibi does not want to be dictated to but he's happy to take our $3 billion in military aid each year and allow our troops to fight his enemies in Iraq.

A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life.

Seriously. I was pretty much

Seriously. I was pretty much confident that RP was a POS after throwing his base (911 truth) under the bus in a sniveling wuss like manner on teevee. Then he walked away with all that money with no fight. Now israhell is our best buddy cause they attack a US ship in international waters to get us to nuke Cairo. Oh and also they murder US citizens in international waters and they are our buddies. Then !DEMAND 20 BILLION RIGHT NOW! for "security". If this man is so stupid he thinks zionist pirates are our friends than I will do everything to expose this phony shill.

Folks, we're not voting our way out of this trouble. Its time all you rule followers and cowards admit that NO POLITICIAN IS WORTH YOUR TIME, ENERGY OR MONEY!!! Including your sacred cow Ron Paul.

Even if he does get elected to phony in chief, nothing will change. All you true believers will be crushed by your superhero savior once again. Just like those family radio saps. Right off the turnip truck.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over thinking you will get a different result. Nothing could be more true than this phony Ron Paul rEVOLution. I do believe that is how they printed their signs in the last raping. Spelling revolution with the EVOL being emphasized in all caps. Funny, don't ya think.
