The War on Ron Paul

by Susan Westfall

Whether the media establishments want to admit it or not, and believe me they don't, Ron Paul IS the 'front runner' for the republican primary. Despite voracious denials and vitriolic arguments from almost every quarter to the contrary, he is the only one with a chance of shutting out Obama for the presidency in 2012. He appeals to all sides of the aisle, and is attracting the much sought after independent swing vote almost as fast as he has the youth of the nation. The Internet is indisputably Ron Paul country as countless polls and google trends have repeatedly shown. The gradual change in political rhetoric flowing out of Washington, D.C. over the last 3 years reflects an explosion of interest in the freedom message he spreads so tirelessly. The continuos growth in popularity of talk and news shows focussing on freedom and the constitution broadcasts loud and clear the rising prominence of issues he has brought to the debate fore. For anyone with any powers of discernment, it's a no-brainer.

So why do media pundits, dime a dozen politicians, and innumerable experts of self-aggrandized consequence spend great swathes of time, effort, and someone's money working so hard to convince the people otherwise? You can't turn on a TV, pick up a paper or surf the Internet without encountering the words "He can't win," or some other lame variation repeated ad nauseam with great gusto. According to all the most acclaimed talking heads, that mythical beast "The Front Runner" has yet to be seen on the horizon and is still to arise from some unknown lair, "blazing a new trail" of GOP fame and success across political skies sometime in the not too distant future. Their blind adherence to this tired refrain boggles the mind. Personally, I can find only one reason for the constant repudiation...fear. Fear of the known...Ron Paul, and fear of the unknown...future largess. The status-quo is cornered and it's biggest backers are flailing in desperation through media and political mouthpieces.

Notice how...

all the sudden *T-Paw* (sorry, it sounds so ridiculous)is being branded as some kind of truth-candidate? And of course, Herman Cain is the more moderate Dr. Paul: 1/2 tea-party, 1/2 Federal Reserve!

Very

nice! This is probably my favorite part, although it's difficult to actually choose a favorite part:

"...He is a man who stands his ground, refusing to back down, flip-flop, or play the political game of corporate footsie that entangles so many on the Hill. This is the kind of strength America not just needs, but deep down hungers for in a president..." (RE: Ron Paul)

I, too, would pick that line as my favorite. . .

I'll print this article out to fold in "Liberty Defined" that we are giving away. It will offer an excellent objective view of Ron Paul.

Susan, many thanks for writing this eloquent piece!

Dear Susan

I remember your hard work for RP during the last presidential run.
As I recall you lived in Michigan at the time.

Love Liberty & Peace!

Please explain

In New Zealand there is a law that all broadcasters must treat each candidate equally. If they must give all partys and candiates equal treatment. Do they not have to do this in the USA?

Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/youownyou (quotes)
Website: http://www.own-yourself.com

Nope

In America the MSM will shill for whoever pads their pockets the most. Since Ron Paul goes by the Constitution and not big money special interests they fear for their profit margin. People always forget we only have 6 companies that control pretty much all of whats on TV...and those companies are owned by the banks that fear Ron Paul.

ps. Because of the treatment of Ron Paul in '07 I have been TV free for almost 4 years. I doubt I've missed anything. Most people that watch TV are brainless zombies that like to be told how to think by overpaid actors.

TRIAL BALLONS

Every prospective candidate thrown in the ring is merely a trial balloon right now. If the response is not overwhelming and match their criteria, this person will be discarded and FOX and the other MSM machine will just keep going till they find the person they think they can make the most electable and keep the status quo. It's that simple.

The reason Ron Paul is so threatening is because his popularity and support is so widespread through grassroots, internet and his broad based appeal to people from all the so called political parties. He is the only candidate with the potential to be relevant even without the MSM support, and as we have already seen cannot be ignored unless they destroy him through lies and fabricated deception. The onslaught on his credibility and the effort to ruin this man will be cruel, relentless and unfair beyond comprehension. He was considered a harmless oddity last election, but his steadfast course of spreading the truth and following the constitution for the past 40 years is a message the people want to hear.

And if he still survives all the media attacks, I fear his life will ultimately be threatened as he is the only candidate who truly stands to upset the apple cart. I hope I am wrong, but history has shown how ruthless the power machine can be.

Anyone who wishes to submit

my article to their local newspaper has my permission to do so, not that they really need it...at the bottom of Lew's site it says material can be used as long as full credit to authors is given.

Sunny has submitted to a few in her local area, I submitted to paper here...why not get it into local papers if you can? It only takes 5 minutes to post in an email to the editor.

And thank you so much, everyone, for the kind words and encouragement :)

Thanks for the information.

Really appreciate the article.

Ron Paul doesn't exist

I watched a segment on Hardball just last Friday where Chris Matthews had comedian Bill Maher on, and they were doing a full rundown of all the GOP candidates, with various commentary (and jokes) about whether or not they could beat Obama.

They talked about everyone from Sarah Palin to Donald Trump to Michelle Bachman to Mike Hubackbee, etc., naming all candidates who have already decided not to run, as well as those that are in the race.

Ron Paul's name wasn't mentioned even once. Not one single time. He's not in the race. It's as if he doesn't even exist.

Similarly, you find all the Sunday talk shows never mention his name even one time. There is obviously a well-coordinated agenda to treat Ron Paul as either a non-existant entity whose is not even in the race, or to treat him as a totally disqualified candidate that is unworthy of any News discussion or coverage.

The only way to get their attention is going to be to win Iowa......not 3rd place, not 2nd place.....but an outright, undisputed first-place win.

So that has to be the goal here. Dispite the CPAC wins, and other strong straw poll showings - they will never take Ron Paul seriously until he starts coming in 1st-place in the Primaries.

I'm starting to think that Gingrich won't get too much traction now. But Herman Cain, Mitt Romney, and Pawlenty are where the Establishment is going to put their weight behind.

I just hope that Ron Paul really has the Organizational structure to canvass Iowa from top to bottom and really win this thing. This is all going to come down to really winning Iowa, and then being seen as a viable enough candidate in New Hampshire and then winning there too.

The good news is that if Ron Paul can win these states, then we can finally move into phase II and past the whole "he can't win" perceptions.

Ron Paul is the huge elephant

Ron Paul is the huge elephant in the room and he is getting bigger everyday. The MSM talk show hosts are painting themselves into a corner by not including Ron in the discussions. Their credibility is getting smaller as Ron' credibility grows. Frankly, I am quite happy they do not include Ron in the discussions. Ron is the only top tier candidate in the race -- he is the only candidate that can beat Obama in the next election. Sooner or later they will acknowledge this fact. The MSM is no longer relevant as far as the election is concerned for the most part -- the power of the Internet has surpassed that of the MSM.

Also, the MSM is unwittingly

Also, the MSM is unwittingly driving the voters to the Internet for news about Ron Paul.

They'll switch to "Iowa never meant much anyway" mode

Ron Paul could destroy the status quo and they realize it. The thing is, with rigged machines and phony media, whoever they pick can easily win. Sad but true. We face a lot of hurdles.

Agree

They've done that before.

When Bob Dole won Iowa in 1988, it didn't mean anything. When Bill Clinton came in 5th place in Iowa, it didn't mean anything.

Yet when John Kerry won Iowa -- it meant everything (grassroots candidate Howard Dean was totally finished off). When Obama won Iowa, then Hillary was "on the ropes". When John McCain won New Hampshire in 2000 it didn't mean anything, but it meant absolutely everything in 2008 (despite him losing Iowa). When Paul Tsongas won New Hampshire in 1992, it meant nothing, etc., etc.

So they play these things anyway they feel like it. But in Ron Paul's case, the reason why Iowa means so much is that it gives him the bonifides to get voters to New Hampshire to vote for him too, and put him over then top and win there. It then gets very, very hard to ignore someone who has won both Iowa and New Hampshire.

At that point, Ron Paul could become an unstoppable juggernaut.

Big Mediea Papers

I'm all about spreading the word locally, for the larger papers are not equal in their reporting they are ONE SIDED.

Barron's (Bland Old Party) had a cover story for example with the top 9 candidates for the Republican party, and completely discounted Ron Paul. Yet how Liberal to include Trump, what a marketing ploy.

I read these papers to filter & discover the Lies being told & the bias reporting we R subjected to more & more in this country.

I will Vote Ron Paul just like my family in Texas did.
God Bless.

Acts 2-40 And with many other words did he testify & exhort, saying. Save yourselves from this untoward generation. "It's Our Duty to Liberty & Ourselves"

I have just sent this article to my 2 local rags.

Please you all do the same. It's TOO good not to send.

This is an absolutely wonderful article and every paper in the country should receive it to post in their editorials.

I sent it to Ron, Carol and Willie N on FB too.

Ron Paul is My President

Spot on!

Outstanding article, Susan. Thank you.

"I have one word for you...predator drones. Oh, you think I'm kidding?" Obombya

My theory is that Ron Paul's coverage

goes up and down with the price of silver. When silver was close to $50, he was getting lots of ink. Now that silver has fallen off, there is complacency about hyperinflation and the belief that the banksters can maintain the system.

I listened to Lou Dobbs talk about Republican contenders with a reporter and Ron Paul's name wasn't even mentioned. I used to think that Dobbs was fair minded because he has appeared on the Alex Jones program a few times. Now I've concluded that he is just a POS.

Famous Quote from Justice William O. Douglas

"The Constitution is not neutral.
It was designed to take the government
off the backs of people."

And herein lies the problem:

For anyone with any powers of discernment, it's a no-brainer.

This is what is lacking - people are literally brain-dead and want to be spoon-fed their information. And who does the feeding? The controlled and manipulated MSM.

What a WONDERFUL thing it would be to marginalize the MSM - making it impotent.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.
Ron Paul - The Revolution

Setting a good example is a far better way to spread ideals than through force of arms. Ron Paul

That the best propaganda is geared towards the common denominator, for the people who aren't paying attention, for those that don't do any critical thinking, who just listen and accept without thought.

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

The "war on Liberty"

I like that phrase, as you concluded your article, Susan. Ron Paul ought to use it.

We have the false "war on drugs", and false "war on terror" and "war on poverty", etc.

These "wars" are meant to create an undefined enemy which justifies government expenditures.

Ron Paul frequently talks about them. He could also coin the term in his attacks on the federal gov't nanny state, "War on Liberty". Except in this case, they are false wars, but very real.

And the evidence of it existing is overwhelming.

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

Thank you.

It is a war on liberty, and because Ron explains it so well to us, understands the true meaning and will act on his beliefs, a war on him by extension.
