Let me tell you about Long Shots

In 1997 my 10 year old Arabian gelding, Ashouk, raced to Victory under 36-1 odds, it was only his 4th race. He ran against 3, 4 and 5 year-olds who had a lot of races under their belts. I didn't hire a 'professional' trainer, I became one myself. I didn't have the big bucks the pros had either, I did everything myself. He was considered the Long Shot. He broke first, ran first and finished a full 15 lengths ahead of the field. He ran a 6 furlong race, but we had trained for 100 milers long before we decided to "sprint". From then on, he always ran as the favorite. Don't believe anyone who says you haven't got a shot. Ashouk, now 21, still races in my pasture as proof. It was an okay article, but I know a Winner, when I see one.

Dr. Ron Paul.
