The Romney campaign reportedly raised $10.25 million on Monday, May 16, 2011. Looking at the governor's presidential exploratory website and Facebook page has yielded little specifics about the money raised. If this $10.25 million raised was cold hard cash during the 24-hour period of May 16, Governor Romney most likely has broken the one-day presidential campaign donation record set by Congressman Ron Paul during the 2008 election season which was a bit over $6 million in 24 hours.
More specifics on the donations do not seem to be available at this time. One must wonder as to the size of the donor base and if the donations were just pledged or the donors actually have parted with their cash. Ultimately, this is all good news for Governor Romney, as long as the money was actually raised and not empty pledges, as no other contender has raised even a fraction of the sort of money that the governor has claimed to raise. The only other candidate that has had any significant fundraisers to date is Congressman Ron Paul. Congressman Paul raised (Money Bombed) over $1 million dollars on Thursday, May 5, 2011 to coincide with the first Republican debate in South Carolina.
